Chapter 12: Little Brother; Fending off Enemies
The inner court was far larger and wealthier compared to the outer court. This part of the sect housed the elite disciples of the sect. Only disciples who were known to have broken through from Body Tempering into the Yuan Realms were allowed to enter the inner court. As such it was home to some of the sect's amazing talents and notable disciples.
Today especially, a commotion had been started in the inner court which had drawn the attention of a lot of disciples, even those from the outer courts.
A peculiar situation like this only happened once in ten fucking years hence it was always quite the spectacle.
Above the inner courts fighting square, a lone figure levitated on a long sword, glaring into the deeper parts of the inner courts in a murderous rage. His normally impossibly near white robes had been stained by blood and dirt, yet the murder in his eyes was evident.
Du Yun, the White Robed Heavenly Luo Sword Du Yun, ranked 5th in the inner court, was one of its best talents in the past few years and a real dark horse, had come to sound the drums, all to challenge none other than Luo Ping, the inner courts top disciple to a death match.
"Luo Ping! I Du Yun challenge you. A fight to the death!" Slowly levitating down the stage, he empowered his voice with Yuan Power and projected it into the deeper parts of the Inner court. He wanted the whole world to bear witness today, how he'd kill Luo Ping to avenge the soul of his older brother.
Multitudes upon multitudes of disciples flooded the arena and it didn't take too long, until an entourage came walking through, the crowd parting as they made their way to the ring side.
The youth in the lead was none other than Luo Ping who was gowned in a blue robe while his sharp eyes glared towards Du.Yun in contempt.
"Du Yun. What the hell is this? You and I have no enmity between us.." Luo Ping didn't even walk to the stage. Instead, he stood at the edge of the ring and spoke with a crafty smile while Du Yun's raging eyes met his fearlessly.
"You ordered the execution of my brother, Chen Zhen. It was you, you killed him!" Du Yun couldn't stop the tears from falling down his cheeks, meanwhile the crowd was gobsmacked. Well they did have a reason to be.
"Sigh. If it was within my power, I'd have your brother dead and his head staked out in front of the inner court, but I have nothing to with Chen Zhen's disappearance or whatever you're insinuating.."
Luo Ping was nonchalant. He might be wary of Du Yun's strength, but being wary and being afraid were completely different things. He'd rather not have to fight someone like Du Yun at this time, when the inner court competition was almost around the corner.
"My brother is dead because of you, and you will pay." Du Yun however, was blinded by rage. The sword in his hand levitated before him as he unsheathed it and wielded it to his side.
A fierce gale swept out with intensity, as a sharp and stinging sword aura burst out. Around Du Yun, a faint illusion of a million swords materialized around his figure, all which seemed to be bowing down to him like he was some sort of Sword Deity.
The resultant aura forced out a pressure that caused everyone who was below the Heavenly Yuan Realm to nearly collapse.
'How troublesome..' The impressiveness of Du Yun's sword aura threatened even someone as powerful as Luo Ping, who clenched his fists tightly and took a step forward. Majestic flaming Yuan Power cascaded from his body in spades, relieving him off Du Yun's sword pressure, as he summoned a long golden war spear from his Qiankun bag.
'How is his sword aura at the Early Heavenly Yuan stage able to put such a pressure on me.' Luo Ping frowned as his spear finally pointed towards Du Yun. "You really are a pain in the ass, Du Yun, maybe its fine. I should just take care of you once and for all.."
Luo Ping's eyes gleamed murderously, however Du Yun was unfazed, his sword aura tore through the sky as he slowly pointed towards Luo Ping, about to make the first move. It was then that a figure from behind crept up from behind him and grabbed him by the shoulder.
The level of strength within the grab pinned Du Yun down like a little child. His sword aura was already about to tear through the persons body when a familiar voice rang out in his ears.
"Oi, you brat. I leave you for a little while and you start causing trouble. His sword aura turned into specks of golden light and he turned around in complete shock.
"Big brother.."
His eyes watered as he gazed on the only person who had given his all to love him and care for him. Without Chen Zhen, there would not be a Du Yun, something he truly believed deep down, and even when he found out Chen Zhen could not cultivate, he never once disrespected him or looked down on him because he was his hero. The child who stood in front of spirit beasts with a stone to protect his life. No matter how Chen Zhen was he Du Yun was always going to be his beloved little brother.
Du Yun gazed on the familiar face that seemed to have changed so much in such a short time. And the blindfold which covered his eyes caused his heart to ache badly.
"You came out here in front of all these people to battle this fool, just because you thought he had killed me? You're still as reckless as always Du Yun.." Gojo seemed to be berating him, but he had a wide satisfied smile on his face.
"I thought you had truly died." Du Yun lowered his head and sobbed like a little boy. The ever cold and nonchalant youth was like a little boy in front of Chen Zhen. That just spoke on the influence, Chen Zhen had had on him.
Even the golden robed ice cold young lady who had followed Gojo from the outer court couldn't help but raise a brow in surprise, her cold expression cracking for a minute there as a special look in her eyes flashed towards Gojo's figure.
"Dead? Hahaha. By the hands of this son of a bitch? Naaa. The man who can kill me, Chen Zhen has not been born into this world yet.." The sheer arrogance with which Gojo spoke with and his natural prideful disposition had the crowd looking towards him with expectant expressions as he uttered such bold words. Nobody knew why, but all of sudden they found themselves holding him a higher regard than before.
"Such big words there, bastard. Big words without strength to back it up is nothing but empty sayings in the end.." Luo Ping stepped out with his spear, as Majestic flaming Yuan Power burst out of his body.
"Luo Emperor Spear Art: Dissonance!!" A majestic spear light tore through the air, shooting towards Gojo and Du Yun without hesitation. Luo Ping finally made his move agaisnt the two brothers.
Du Yun unsheathed his blade once more as majestic sword aura cascaded onto his body like starlight. He was ready to fight back, when a gaze from Gojo stopped him.
"How can I call myself the big brother, when I need my little brother to fend off my enemies for me.."
Gojo's words sounded one after the other as he slowly removed the blindfold that covered the upper part of his face. In the next moment, the crowd was stunned completely, at the sight of his azure gem like blue eyes that glowed like polished sapphires.
Strand after strand of silver Yuan power swept out of his body, bathing him in a surreal glow. It was like all of a sudden, the Chen Zhen from before had disappeared. His aura, his gaze, it was as if a true Supreme being was looking down on the land. He looked mysterious and breath taking as he took a step forward and positioned himself, his arm stretching outwards.
Slamming all the strands of Yuan power in his dantian into the air around him, space was torn asunder, like glass, it shattered as the shards reflected other dimensions and planes. He slammed more and more of his Yuan power into the air, shattering space, as the gaps between dimensions frayed.
The meaning spear light ripped into the broken shards of air, as a metallic screeching sound and the sound of shattering of glass resounded.
The two stalemated for a while, but eventually the spear light disappeared, absorbed into other planes. With a manic smile, Gojo wiped the blood that flowed from his nose and his hand swept out horizontally.
A vertical slash in the air folded space around it, as if he cutting down at the center of a mirror as shards ruptured on either sides of it. The attack had been instantaneous. A vertical slash of folding space ripped into Luo Ping's chest hurling him backwards as his feet dug into the ground, creating a long trail that only stopped when he was meters away.
Luo Ping looked down at the armour underneath his clothes and involuntarily gulped down in fear. Had Gojo targeted his head, he would've died instantly.
That attack had been unpredictable and unavoidable. Just who the fuck was this Chen Zhen. The bystanders were gobsmacked at the sudden turn of events.
The golden robed lady, and most importantly Du Yun who stood close to Gojo knew how terrifying that attack had been. Just what the hell had his big brother been through. Before he left he could barely cultivate and now he was strong enough to nearly injured Luo Ping with one strike.
The golden robed woman's eyes fluttered in shock, as she stared down Gojo's lean figure from a distance.
"Space element?" She uttered internally, and an unknown light flashed within her eyes as she stared at him now.
A/N: We can do this together people!.
