Chapter 34: Relic from a past life
The battle was far from over.
The battlefield trembled under the sheer might of their clashes. Space twisted and fractured, and the very air trembled under the weight of their battle. Gojo's fists flashed like meteors, each strike bending reality itself, while Mo Xie's sword howled through the air, leaving trails of crimson destruction.
BANG! BANG! BANG!
Fist met blade in rapid succession, their bodies moving faster than the eye could track. Gojo grinned wildly, enjoying the fight more than anything else. His six eyes calculated every motion, every feint, every shift in Mo Xie's stance. He was untouchable, or so it seemed.
Mo Xie, however, was no fool. He had fought countless battles, slain countless opponents, and even in his madness, he was a cunning predator.
He suddenly faltered, his footing slipping, his balance breaking. It was subtle, barely noticeable, but Gojo caught it instantly.
A mistake.
Gojo smirked. "Sloppy."
He moved in for the kill. His body blurred as he twisted to Mo Xie's exposed side, his fist cocked back and shimmering with overwhelming Yuan Power. The very moment he struck, however
Mo Xie vanished.
Not an illusion. Not speed. A calculated deception.
Gojo's punch tore through empty space, his six eyes widening in realization, too late.
SHRIIIP!
"Hell Devouring Slash!"
A violent crimson arc ripped through his torso.
Mo Xie had reappeared behind him, his blade drenched in silver blood. "Got you."
Gojo staggered. A deep, gruesome gash had been carved diagonally across his torso, from shoulder to hip. Silver blood poured out freely. For the first time in the battle, silence hung in the air.
Mo Xie grinned, his bloodthirsty eyes gleaming with victory. "Heh… Didn't see that one, did you?"
Gojo slowly looked down at his wound. His breathing hitched for a moment. His entire torso would've been sliced cleanly through if not for the strands of ligaments holding both parts of him together, then, a chuckle escaped his lips.
A chuckle that turned into a full-blown laugh.
"Heh… HAHAHAHA!"
Mo Xie frowned. "What's so funny?"
Gojo wiped the blood from his chin and cracked his neck. "You got me, I'll give you that." He exhaled, his wound already but slowly beginning to mend. "But you really think this is enough to bring me down?"
BZZZZT!
Gojo's vision swam as the pain in his torso flared. His body was tough, monstrously so, but the Hell Devouring Slash wasn't something that could be shrugged off so easily. The wound wasn't just physical; it gnawed at him, a lingering Yin energy corroding his insides, trying to halt his regeneration.
For the first time in a long while, he felt slower.
Mo Xie saw it. The slight hesitation, the millisecond delay in his usual movement. He lunged, blade singing through the air for another devastating blow.
BANG!
A shockwave erupted.
Gojo's fist landed first.
A direct, point-blank Black Flash to Mo Xie's ribs.
CRACK!
Time itself seemed to warp for an instant as the devastating blow connected. Mo Xie's body folded inward as shockwaves tore through his bones, sending him rocketing backward like a meteor. Black and red lightning exploded forth and the shattering of mirrors echoed. Gojo didn't just hit him with Physical strength and Yuan Power. He made sure to shatter space upon collision, tearing through Mo Xie's flesh.
Gojo staggered, in pain. The gruesome wound wasnt healing as fast as he would've wanted. He spat out blood, his breathing ragged. "Tch... that actually hurt..."
But he wasn't done.
His six eyes flared—calculating, refining, locking onto Mo Xie's trajectory. Before Mo Xie even touched the ground, Gojo was already there.
BANG!
A second Black Flash, this time an uppercut straight into Mo Xie's gut.
The sheer impact inverted the air, folding space itself. Mo Xie coughed up blood, his entire form bending at an unnatural angle before he was launched skyward.
Gojo exhaled, his smirk returning. "One more."
He bent his knees, tensed his muscles—
Then—
He vanished.
BANG!
A third Black Flash exploded against Mo Xie's spine, driving him downward like a meteor, crashing him into the shattered earth below. The ground split apart violently, forming an impact crater hundreds of meters wide.
Gojo landed casually at the edge of the crater, rolling his shoulders. His wound still throbbed, but he ignored it. Compared to that, hitting three Black Flashes had put him in the zone. His regeneration was working even faster this time. He was healing. The only problem was, he was beginning to feel the mental exhaustion from the six eyes. This wasn't something the regeneration could heal. The six eyes had been in constant use since day 1 of stepping foot in this goddamned region. He didn't know how long he would hold on for, but he had to damage Mo Xie as much as possible or possibly kill him.
Right in that moment, a sensation lit up in his soul, something he had not felt since his reincarnation, a remnant from his own world here to aid him, Gojo sighed.
He raised a hand.
"Spatial Lock."
A pulse of silvery Yuan Power rippled from his fingers, weaving through space itself. Instantly, Mo Xie's battered form jerked to a halt. His body refused to move, his limbs locked, his aura restrained, his very existence frozen in place.
Mo Xie's eyes widened in fury. "What the—?!"
Gojo appeared in front of him.
A punch crashed into his face, backed by insane force.
BANG!
Mo Xie's head snapped to the side, blood spraying from his mouth.
Gojo cracked his knuckles. "Man, I really needed this."
Then, he raised his hand again.
"Spatial Lock."
Mo Xie's body locked in place once more. He couldn't dodge. Couldn't counter. Couldn't do anything.
Gojo smiled.
Then he beat the shit out of him.
Fist to the gut. Knee to the jaw. Elbow to the temple. Every hit landed clean, unrestrained. Mo Xie tried to break free, but the Spatial Lock was absolute. He was nothing more than a training dummy for Gojo's fists. He let his fists rip into Mo Xie's figure without hesitation. With punch after punch, the shattering of space echoed through the air in shattering impacts. Flashes of silvery blue light.
But Gojo wasn't done.
He stepped back, lifted a single finger..
"Spatial Lock."
Mo Xie froze again.
Gojo dusted off his sleeves. "You know what? This is kinda fun."
He grabbed Mo Xie by the collar, lifted him up then drove his knee into his ribs, again and again, each blow making the air shudder.
Mo Xie coughed up more blood, his breath ragged, yet his eyes burned with defiance. "You… think you've won?" he growled.
Gojo simply smirked. "Nah."
Then, with a final clench of his fist..
"Spatial Lock."
Mo Xie froze again.
Gojo grinned.
"But I am having fun."
For the last attack, he didn't throw a punch. No, he blasted everything he could into the man's chest, his body recoiling from the impact, the shards of space splintering in an earth shattering crash. Like thousands of glass windows shattering at the same time.
A huge gash opened across Mo Xie's chest as his body was sent crashing through the earth.
Gojo was brutal. He refused to give Mo Xie a breather. Who knew what someone as devious as him could cook up in a split second. He couldn't risk it, neither did he want him to escape. Instead, he lifted his foot and just stepped down.
"Titan's Step: Spatial Quake!"
The bass dropped.
BOOOOM!
It was as if time had frozen. The world itself turned bleak for a moment. Space shattered instantly. The gaps between dime sions frayed. An omnidirectional shockwave exploded forth from the point of collision, tearing through everything in its path.
The entire area within a 5km radius had been reduced to rubble. Gojo had to hold back, no in fact, he wasn't sure he could recreate that wonderful effect when he first used the technique and he didn't want to find out.
As the dust settled, he found Mo Xie sprawled powerlessly within a crater, barely recognizable. His once-proud figure was now a wreck, limbs twisted, blood dripping from countless wounds, his blade shattered beside him. And yet, even in his ruin, his crimson eyes still burned with fury.
And to his surprise, he was alive -barely. Gojo walked to him and crouched down a meter before him. The man forced his shattered body up and laughed in Gojo's face.
"Hahahaha!! You think you've won? You have no idea what the fuck you're doing boy! My Northern Region Territory Alliance would raze this place to the fucking ground. None of you would be spared! None!"
He finished his words with a violent cough to which Gojo shrugged. "You're tenacious, I'll give you that. But you have to die.
"Heh…" Mo Xie coughed, blood splattering onto the broken ground. "What… are you waiting for? Finish it."
Gojo tilted his head. "Yeah, yeah, I was just admiring my handiwork. You really took a beating, huh?" He wiped some blood from his own mouth, Mo Xie had gotten him good too. That wound from earlier was still messing with him.
But it didn't matter.
Gojo slowly stood up, rolling his shoulders as a slow, satisfied grin spread across his lips. "Alright then… you wanted this, so let's make it flashy.
Honestly, I didn't think I had this in me anymore, but here it goes.."
His six eyes flashed.
The world trembled.
Gojo raised his hand, fingers forming a familiar, deliberate sign.
"Domain Expansion—Unlimited Void."
The air collapsed. Reality itself folded in on itself.
A blinding, infinite void expanded outward, swallowing everything. The battlefield, the shattered earth, the very concept of space—all of it disappeared into nothingness.
Mo Xie's eyes widened. His body jerked as if trying to resist, but it was useless.
They now stood in an endless black abyss.
Within it, everything was revealed. Every sight, every thought, every piece of existence was forced into Mo Xie's mind at once.
Infinite knowledge.
Infinite sensation.
Infinite information.
Overwhelming.
Paralyzing.
Mo Xie tried to scream, but no sound came.
His mind fractured under the sheer weight of it all. His body convulsed, his limbs twitching uncontrollably. The proud and bloodthirsty Mo Xie, the feared demon of the Northern Region Territory Alliances, was reduced to a mere insect drowning in the vastness of infinity.
Gojo watched impassively.
"It's beautiful, isn't it?" he said casually, hands in his pockets. "You're feeling everything. Seeing everything. Knowing everything. But you can't do a damn thing about it."
He knelt down one last time, bringing his face close to Mo Xie's.
"This… is what true despair looks like."
With a snap of his fingers the Void collapsed.
Everything returned to reality.Except Mo Xie.
His body remained, but his mind was gone. His eyes, once sharp, fierce, and filled with bloodlust, were now empty. Hollow.
Dead.
Gojo exhaled, cracking his neck as he stood. He rolled his shoulders, feeling the weight of battle leave him. And then, his body shook. A nerve wracking migraine assaulted his senses. Trickles of blood swam down his nostrils and he coughed into his hands, tasting the mettalic flavor of blood.
He healed in a mere instant, yet the weight of mental and psychological exhaustion was too much for the six eyes. He staggered and nearly collapsed. In one last move, the key to the picket dimensions shone and his body disappeared completely.
