Chapter 25: The Avengers Assemble (Adam's Version), Natasha's Secret

The world was teetering on the brink. Loki had the Tesseract, and an alien invasion was imminent. Nick Fury was scrambling, activating the Avengers Initiative. Adam, watching the news reports of global panic, felt a strange mix of dread and exhilaration. This was the moment. The team was coming together.

"Alright, Avengers. Time to put on your big boy pants. And your spandex. Especially the spandex. Because the fate of the world rests on your shoulders. And on my ability to make things go 'poof' at inconvenient times for the bad guys."

"Skye, Jemma, I need a secure line to Fury," Adam said, pacing his command center. "And I need real-time updates on every Avenger's location. Where's Tony? Where's Cap? Where's Bruce?"

"Tony's being… difficult, boss," Skye reported, a hint of amusement in her voice. "He's arguing with Fury about his 'consultant' status. Bruce Banner is in Calcutta, trying to stay off the grid. And Captain America… well, he's probably still trying to figure out how to use a smartphone."

Jemma, meanwhile, was tracking the Tesseract's energy signature. "It's radiating immense power, Adam! Loki is definitely preparing for something big!"

Adam knew the initial assembly would be rocky. The egos, the mistrust. He decided to make his presence known, not to the Avengers directly, but to Fury, as a helpful, albeit annoying, consultant.

He sent another encrypted message to Fury's tablet using Technopathy: "THEY NEED A PUSH. A COMMON ENEMY. AND MAYBE A SHAWARMA. - A.S."

Fury, reading the message, slammed his hand on his desk. "Shawarma?! Coulson, who is this 'A.S.'?!"

Adam, unseen, chuckled. "Just your friendly neighborhood meta-commentator, Fury. Always here to help. And to suggest delicious post-battle snacks."

He knew the plan: Loki would be brought to the Helicarrier. The infighting would begin. And then, the attack.

He saw Natasha Romanoff, looking grim, preparing for her mission to bring Bruce Banner in. Adam felt a pang of concern. She was walking into a dangerous situation.

He decided to make a subtle intervention. He used his Teleportation to appear briefly in Natasha's path, invisible, just as she was about to leave. He focused, a faint shimmer in the air.

For a split second, Natasha saw a fleeting image in her mind: a memory of Clint, smiling, before his mind was taken. It was gone as quickly as it came, but it was enough to solidify her resolve, to remind her why she was doing this.

Natasha paused, her eyes narrowing. She looked around, sensing something, but seeing nothing. A flicker of emotion crossed her face, then hardened into determination.

Adam, unseen, smiled sadly. "You'll get him back, Nat. And I'll be here to help you do it. Even if it means dealing with more of Fury's headaches."

He watched her go, then turned his attention to the bigger picture. The Avengers were assembling. And he was their unseen guardian angel, their chaotic support system.

Later, he saw the news reports. Captain America, Tony Stark, Bruce Banner, Thor, Natasha Romanoff, Clint Barton. The team was together. On the Helicarrier. And the infighting was already beginning.

"Perfect. Just like the movie. Now, all we need is a giant flying whale and a lot of property damage. And I'll be there. With my illusions, my teleportation, and a whole lot of sarcastic commentary. New York, you have no idea what's coming."
