Marvel: AS A PRINCE IN ASGARD

Chapter 65: CHAPTER 65

Stormbreaker was a weapon of immeasurable power, capable of channeling and amplifying the might of the storm. However, the awakening of the Thunder Court's true power was something only Thor could achieve. This was Odin's intent all along—the God-King had forged Stormbreaker long ago as a contingency, a weapon meant for his son when the time was right.

Above the battlefield, Heimdall stood vigilant. The great guardian of Asgard, untouched by the chaos, observed everything with the all-seeing power of the Bifrost, his gaze piercing through the realms. Though the battle on Earth had been hard-fought, Thor had finally reclaimed his birthright, his divine might restored.

After a moment of contemplation, Heimdall activated Bifrost, transporting Thor, Sif, the Warriors Three, and their allies back to Asgard's golden halls.

As the new Gatekeeper of Asgard, Heimdall wielded the Eye of the Nine Realms, a gift and a burden that allowed him to see all—past, present, and future. Through this sight, he had long known of Loki's deception.

No illusion, no magic, no trick of the mind could ever deceive Heimdall's omniscient vision.

Even now, despite Loki's ascension to the throne in Odin's absence, Heimdall's loyalty had never wavered. He did not serve Loki. He served Asgard.

Thor returned to Asgard just as he had many times before, but the realm he knew had changed in his absence. Loki had seized control, and before Odin's very eyes, he wielded the All-Father's sacred weapon—Gungnir, the Spear of Kings.

With a single treacherous strike, Loki ambushed Laufey, the King of Jotunheim—his own biological father. Laufey, wounded and already weakened, never saw it coming.

The spear's enchantments magnified Loki's power beyond its natural limits. Though he had always been a mere third-tier sorcerer, wielding Gungnir elevated his strength to the brink of fourth-tier might.

"Three Zeros."

Laufey, unable to resist, fell before his son's hand. His source of power stripped away, his fate sealed.

Yet, as Loki stood over the dying King of Jotunheim, his triumph was cut short—Thor had returned.

For the first time, Loki's carefully constructed plans were thrown into disarray. He had not foreseen Thor's resurgence. He had not anticipated his brother's return to Asgard so soon.

His expression twisted into one of disbelief.

How did Thor regain his power?

How did he return without my knowledge?

What went wrong?

It was beyond his control.

But Loki had no intention of backing down. He would not be denied.

As Thor confronted his brother, his voice thundered with fury, demanding answers.

"Why did you betray me?

Why did you let the Frost Giants into Asgard?"

Loki, ever the schemer, offered no answer. He had already committed to his plan, and there was no turning back.

If Thor stood in his way—so be it.

Loki turned Gungnir's power toward Bifrost, forcibly activating the cosmic bridge. His goal was clear—Jotunheim must be destroyed.

"This is my destiny, Thor."

"I will finish what Odin could not."

To prove his worth to Odin.

To prove his love for Asgard.

Even if it meant genocide.

But Thor would not allow it.

Not now.

Not after witnessing the cost of war firsthand.

Not after watching innocent mortals perish needlessly.

Thor had fought the Frost Giants all his life. They were his enemies. But not all of them were warriors. Not all of them deserved to die.

Bifrost had become a weapon of annihilation, and Thor would not let it be used for mass slaughter.

He had to stop Loki.

With Heimdall wounded and unable to intervene, and Gungnir overriding Bifrost's controls, no one else could prevent Jotunheim's destruction.

Thor made his choice.

Raising Mjolnir, he called upon the full might of the storm. I'm

And with a single devastating swing, he shattered Bifrost.

The bridge between realms collapsed in an explosion of light and energy.

The space between worlds became unstable. Asgard's defenses crumbled.

And at that precise moment—

Ragna arrived.

Above the ruined Bifrost, standing in the churning storm, Ragna watched as Thor and Loki plunged toward the abyss.

Endless void.

They would be lost forever.

But then—

Odin awakened.

The All-Father appeared in an instant, grabbing hold of Thor with one hand.

And in the other—

He caught Gungnir, still clutched in Loki's grasp.

Loki's illusions melted away under Odin's gaze. His tricks meant nothing before the All-Father's might.

And yet—

Nothing Loki had ever done would be enough.

"No matter what you do…"

"No matter how much you prove yourself…"

"You will never be my equal."

Loki's mind fractured.

All his schemes, all his sacrifices, his very identity—

Odin had never intended for him to rule.

Loki had never been a son to him.

He was merely a tool, a pawn in Odin's grand strategy.

A contingency, meant to one day serve as Asgard's ruler over Jotunheim.

A child stolen from Laufey, groomed to take the throne after his father's death.

"It was always about Asgard."

"Never about me."

Loki's lips trembled. His fingers slackened.

He let go.

And as he fell into the endless void, the last thing he saw was Ragna —standing above, watching with an unreadable expression.

"…Did he predict all of this?"

A final thought.

Then—darkness.

Ragna had foreseen much.

His deal with Loki had been an idle play, a means to move the game forward.

To Loki, Midgard and other realms were mere stepping stones, tools to expand his rule and prove his kingship.

But to Ragna , ruler of a vast interstellar empire, such conquests were meaningless.

He had only made a small move, yet fate had shifted.

And now, the balance of power had changed.

As Odin pulled Thor to safety, his gaze locked onto Ragna and the Valkyrie who stood beside him.

Recognition flickered in the All-Father's eyes.

He had long known of Ragna 's strength.

But the divine power within his companion—that was unexpected.

"The power of the God of War…"

Odin's mind raced. He forced a smile as he turned to Ragna .

"Master of the Celestial Palace."

"Ruler of the Holy Empire."

"Ragna , you make me proud."

"Asgard will always welcome you."

"This place will always be your home."

But Ragna merely shook his head.

His gaze was cold, piercing.

"Home is where one's kin reside."

"Asgard?"

"No."

He took a step forward, his voice sharp, unwavering.

"Great King of the Gods…"

"I am here to negotiate."

"Release Hela."

"And withdraw from Midgard."
