The ocean breeze carried a sharp chill as Gwen Stacy, wearing her Spider-Woman suit, stood face-to-face with a familiar figure she hadn't seen in a long time.
"Hi, hello!" Gwen greeted awkwardly, trying to mask her surprise. Her identity as Spider-Woman could not be revealed, and she struggled to act nonchalant despite the sight of her former biology teacher, Antonia Aguilar.
Rumors had spread about Antonia's disappearance months ago, which only made her sudden reappearance on the streets even stranger. Gwen tried to keep her cool. "Do you need help? Maybe your wallet was stolen? I could assist."
Antonia smiled, her charm undiminished by the black trench coat she wore. Her tied-up hair and composed demeanor added to her mystique.
"No, my wallet's fine," Antonia replied. "I just want to have a word with you."
"About what?" Gwen asked cautiously.
Antonia's smile deepened. "I want to speak with Spider-Man. Do you know where I can find him?"
Gwen coughed awkwardly. "Sorry, I'm not familiar with him." She shot a quick glance around, preparing to swing away on her web.
But before she could act, Antonia's voice rang out, sharp and unexpected. "Gwen Stacy, my student. Why the rush?"
"!"
Gwen froze mid-motion, her mind racing. How did Antonia know her identity? Her pulse quickened, panic rising as she turned to face the woman.
"I thought you'd at least acknowledge me as your teacher," Antonia continued with a teasing tone. "But you pretended not to know me. That's disappointing."
Gwen stammered. "I... I..."
Antonia's smile became sly. "You know, I've indirectly helped you a lot. Without my intervention, you and Peter Parker wouldn't have gotten together so quickly. I helped you take that crucial first step."
Gwen's mind flashed back to the strange events at the pool. She had kissed Peter that day, an action entirely out of character for her. Could it have been Antonia's doing?
Antonia seemed to read her thoughts. "Have you forgotten? I'm a biology teacher. Isn't it natural for a biology teacher to create factors that bring boys and girls closer together?"
"That's not natural at all!" Gwen thought furiously, struggling to stay calm.
Taking a deep breath, she looked at Antonia warily. "Fine. Thanks for the 'help.' What do you want now?"
Antonia's expression darkened. "Didn't I just say? I want to talk to Spider-Man."
"You don't need me for that. Find him yourself," Gwen retorted.
Antonia's gaze sharpened. "Oh, I will. But I want him to understand something first—if I wanted to, I could hurt the most important person in his life."
Her tone sent a chill down Gwen's spine. Antonia took a step forward, her voice lowering. "You have no idea what I've been through. One night, after being exposed to that cursed black violet, something horrifying happened. A parasitic creature tore its way out of my chest. The pain was unimaginable. If not for my immortality as the 'beast's vessel,' I would have died."
Gwen's breath caught as Antonia continued, her voice tinged with anger. "Peter Parker is responsible for that monstrosity. In a twisted way, I gave birth to his 'child.' Now, he owes me."
Before Gwen could react, Antonia launched herself at her with inhuman speed.
