Marvel Cybernetic Girl

Chapter 3: 03 Infinite Concept Skill System

"Wow! I'm so strong!"

Kagura Hitomi snapped back to reality and found herself standing victorious, utterly shocked.

The Hulk, lying nearby, shared her expression of disbelief.

At this moment, Bruce Banner understood a fundamental truth: no matter whether the Hulk should be considered a "superhero" or not, there is definitely more than one "superhero" in this world.

Kagura Hitomi and the Hulk exchanged glances.

If one could look back from the future, this would surely be a historically significant moment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The steel rebar in Kagura Hitomi's hand trembled slightly, its sharp tip having perfectly pierced "Abomination's" eye socket, pinning his entire head to the ground.

The massive black giant twitched a few times before going limp.

Black blood flowed steadily from "Abomination's" head, forming a growing pool around him.

"Ugh!"

When Kagura Hitomi shifted her gaze to "Abomination," her instincts immediately told her to step back.

This was the first time she had seen such a brutal, life-and-death battle firsthand.

As an ordinary girl, just a typical high school student, Kagura Hitomi had no real courage when it came to facing blood and violence, especially not something as intense as a headshot.

"Ugh! Eh? Wait?"

She quickly covered her mouth, thinking she was going to be sick, but realized her body didn't feel as bad as she had expected.

The fear of blood and death was more a product of her own subjective imagination.

Placing a hand on her chest, she murmured, "I see... this body, it's an automatic, humanoid one. It's not phased by something like this."

Would you feel sad or afraid if you stepped on a bug?

Of course not.

[Target confirmation silent]

[Task: Kill a hostile target/Complete]

[Earned 5 QP]

The green confirmation bar flashed briefly.

The holographic UI window displayed new information.

[New Skill Information Received:]

[Close Combat Weapon Mastery]

Hmm?

So this is how the skill system works?

Kagura Hitomi focused on the holographic UI in front of her.

She noticed in the corner of the UI was an overview of her abilities and the system's name.

[Infinite Concept Skill System]

"Infinity? Concept? Skill? System?"

I recognize each word, but why does this not make sense when I put them together?

She was still uncertain about the nature of her powers.

What was clear now was that her abilities seemed to evolve based on her actions.

For example, by using a steel rebar as a "melee weapon," she had triggered the new skill of "Close Combat Weapon Mastery."

The triggered skill was in an inactive state, and she could use the QP she had gained to activate it.

As for how to earn more QP...

[New Task]

[Witness the rise of a superhero/10 QP]

Hmm, seems like it's tied to completing tasks.

It seemed like a self-improving ability system, but...

Where is the "infinity"? Where's the "concept"?

These questions would have to be explored later.

Should I activate this "Close Combat Weapon Mastery" skill?

Kagura Hitomi focused on the corresponding character in the holographic UI, and a new window opened before her eyes.

[Close Combat Weapon Mastery/0]

The number after the slash seemed to represent the skill's cost. When she used the "Short-Term Active Acceleration" skill earlier, she noticed that 5% of her core energy was deducted.

[Allows for more effective use of melee weapons]

[Grants combat abilities close to the theoretical maximum for corresponding weapons]

So, if Kagura Hitomi was a well-rounded fighter right now, after learning this skill, her proficiency with melee weapons would greatly improve, reaching near the theoretical limits of those weapons.

Such a simple and direct skill.

Does she need it?

Well, of course not!

Kagura Hitomi swiped across the UI with her mind, closing the skill upgrade window.

Seriously, it's a new era. Who still fights with melee weapons?

Better save my precious QP for other skills. Even something like "Firearm Mastery" would be far more useful than this "Close Combat Weapon Mastery," right?

By the way, will there really be skills like "Firearm Mastery"?

She started pondering again.

Hmm, there should be. Maybe something like a "Gun-Fu" skill, or even like the character Homura Akemi from Puella Magi Madoka Magica, who doesn't have a specific skill name but is extremely proficient with flashy, stylish gun techniques...

Just as she was thinking this, the holographic UI suddenly flashed with a new message:

[Deep Memory Scan Complete, Memory Fragments Confirmed]

[Existing Skill System Connection Confirmed]

[Concept Skill Combination Successful]

[New Skill Information Received]

[Modern Firearm Mastery]

...

WTF???

Kagura Hitomi stared at the new message, suddenly understanding what "Infinite Concept Skill System" actually meant.

In addition to triggering skills through actions, there was a second method for acquiring new skills.

By using existing skills as a foundation, she could extract powers from memories of various ACG works and turn them into "Concepts," which could then give rise to corresponding Concept Skills.

Now it made sense!

The huge list of skills, filled with mostly question marks, consisted mostly of these Concept Skills.

This ability is interesting!

"Bang! Bang! Bang!"

Kagura Hitomi's excitement was interrupted by the sound of helicopter blades.

The battle had ended, and the nearby civilians and army units began to gather.

Clearly, the Hulk and the U.S. military had been fighting "Abomination" for quite some time before Kagura Hitomi arrived.

"Boom!"

A bright white light beam descended from the sky, and the helicopter's spotlight illuminated "Abomination's" body, as well as the area around Kagura Hitomi, turning it into a stark, glaring light. The girl, caught in the intense beam, instinctively raised her hand to shield her face.

This is bad!

Kagura Hitomi realized.

If she exposed herself here, wouldn't she end up like the Hulk, forced into a life on the run?

A suddenly appearing girl, unarmed, taking down a monster that both the military and Hulk couldn't handle...

She would definitely be caught and dragged into some weird lab, subjected to all sorts of experiments!

No, no! That's terrifying! I have to get out of here!

With a quick thought, Kagura Hitomi activated the holographic UI once again.

[Short-Term Active Acceleration: Activated]

As the energy bar quickly filled, the skill indicator switched from yellow to green. The girl glanced at the Hulk, then disappeared from her spot.

"Boom!"

The delayed physical effect exploded into a cloud of dust on the ground. A new cracked crater appeared next to "Abomination's" corpse.

Blue glowing points mixed with the dust, slowly fading into the air.

The noisy night on the chaotic streets of New York went silent, and the mysterious girl who had defeated "Abomination" was gone.
