Marvel Cybernetic Girl

Chapter 37: 37 The Red-haired Beauty

On the deserted street, the gangsters lay sprawled out, defeated.

Before Kagura Hitomi stood a beautiful red-haired woman.

She wore a sleek black bodysuit that perfectly highlighted her curves, with practical equipment strapped to her waist and wrists, much like Kagura's own gear.

Her face bore traces of Russian heritage, and her body was stunning in a way that could captivate any man.

"You're impressive," the red-haired beauty said with a smile.

"You almost stole my job."

Kagura Hitomi tilted her head in confusion.

"Huh?"

"Oh, sorry, I guess that was a bit cryptic," the woman said with a soft laugh.

"I'm Natalia."

She stepped closer and extended a hand with a warm smile.

"I was sent by a mutual acquaintance to protect you, but it seems like you didn't really need my help."

"Not at all, thank you, Sister Natalia." She took her hand, giving her a polite smile.

"I'm really grateful you showed up when you did."

Although Kagura appeared to be sincerely thanking Natalia, inside, she couldn't help but make snarky remarks.

'No, your name isn't Natalia. It's Natasha Romanoff.'

'You don't seem like someone protecting me from the shadows either. You showed up after I took care of almost everyone. Clearly, you were testing my combat abilities!'

Natasha Romanoff worked for the famous S.H.I.E.L.D.

The "Level 7" agent that Coulson mentioned—most likely her.

Her deliberate choice to hold back while Kagura fought off the attackers proved one thing: S.H.I.E.L.D. was definitely taking an interest in Kagura's abilities.

Judging from Natasha's comment about her being on a "higher level than Tony," it seemed Kagura was already on the "Avenger Initiative" radar.

Hmm, not exactly bad news.

Although S.H.I.E.L.D. had turned into a rather shady organization, with people like Director Nick Fury still working to maintain world peace and stability, collaborating with them wouldn't be so bad.

Kagura had no intention of flattering S.H.I.E.L.D. or joining them, but if it was someone like Nick Fury or Natasha Romanoff, working together might be useful.

"So, about your skills..." Natasha continued, her voice now more direct.

At this point, it wasn't subtle probing—it was a full-on interrogation.

Kagura knew that her battle footage, showcasing her powers, was likely already recorded by S.H.I.E.L.D., and trying to make up an excuse would be pointless.

Kagura had no intention of hiding her strength.

However, she didn't want to cause any misunderstandings or panic by revealing too much, especially if it led to being locked up for experiments—that would be terrible.

Since Natasha had already hinted at S.H.I.E.L.D.'s intentions, Kagura figured she could reveal her abilities in a simple, non-threatening way.

Perhaps she could even take this opportunity to become a public superhero. That might be a better option than hiding.

"Well..." Kagura pondered for a moment, then spoke up.

"I don't know the exact reason, but I have this innate ability to control various forms of energy to enhance my physical abilities."

She made it up on the spot—who would know? Hehe!

"Oh, that sounds fascinating! I've never seen anything like it," Natasha said, clearly intrigued.

"Umm... Sister Natalia, could you keep this a secret? I really don't want to be locked up in some lab," Kagura said with a worried expression, testing Natasha's response.

Natasha smiled reassuringly.

"Don't worry, I'm not a journalist."

"Thank goodness. That would be so troublesome," Kagura said, visibly relieved.

"Thanks for keeping it quiet, Sister Natalia."

Of course, there was someone else who knew about Kagura's abilities—Natasha herself.

Kagura's HUD had already scanned her, and—

[Military-grade eavesdropping device, threat level: none.]

[Military-grade covert communication device, threat level: none.]

Natasha had a hidden communication device and miniature intelligence-recording gear. Their conversation was almost certainly being transmitted to Nick Fury.

Kagura could almost imagine the grin on that guy's face.

But it was fine.

As long as she conveyed a friendly attitude through Natasha, and gained Nick Fury's approval, his influence would help ensure she didn't end up in the hands of some shady research facility.

That took a huge weight off her shoulders.

After all, no matter how long she tried to hide her powers, the truth would eventually come out. It was better to address it now and settle the issue once and for all.

As for the automatic humanoid identity, the HUD system, and her conceptual skills, well, those could remain hidden for now.

She had already created a plausible story around her abilities.

"No problem," Natasha nodded.

"Actually, you're not the first person with special abilities we've encountered. We have a lot of experience dealing with situations like yours, so don't worry."

While comforting Kagura, Natasha was also transmitting relevant data to S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters.

Meanwhile, in a faraway office, Nick Fury sat in front of his computer, reviewing the preliminary evaluation report on Kagura.

The initial evaluation report on Kagura Hitomi was steadily coming together.

With a slight smile, Coulson muttered to himself, "Found two candidates in one go, not bad, not bad."

Location: Los Angeles, city streets.

"I'll take you home."

After sending the report, Natasha smiled at Kagura Hitomi and said, "It's not safe for a girl to be out alone at night."

Whoosh!

At that moment, a bright streak of light flashed across the sky. It was the Mark III Iron Man suit. Shortly after, distant explosions could be heard.

It seemed Tony Stark had already figured out Obadiah's plans and was going to confront him.

Kagura Hitomi looked up at the distant glow and pointed. "No, I want to go over there."

Natasha followed Kagura's gaze and tapped her earpiece. "What's happening over there?"

"It looks like two Iron Man suits are fighting."

"Two suits?" Natasha frowned, "I see."

She turned to Kagura, "Are you sure you want to go? It could be dangerous."

"Mhm, I want to go." Kagura nodded firmly.

"Alright, I understand." Natasha wasn't too concerned by Kagura's decision. "I'll take you there."

"....Eh?"

We're speeding again, aren't we?!
