Marvel Cybernetic Girl

Chapter 55: 55 Restricted Zone

According to S.H.I.E.L.D.'s reconnaissance, the convoy heading to Boston consisted of a transport truck escorted by two armored sedans.

The armed personnel numbered around ten and were likely equipped with firearms and other advanced weapons.

Whether the Winter Soldier would make an appearance was anyone's guess.

After reviewing the mission briefing one last time, Kagura Hitomi pocketed her phone and put on her tactical gloves.

Nightfall had blanketed the land.

Hidden behind thick shrubs, the silver-haired girl observed the quiet road ahead.

Surrounding her was an expanse of wild countryside filled with trees, bushes, and a tranquil, earthy scent.

In the distance, the twinkling lights of Boston painted the horizon with a shimmering golden arc.

Due to the sparse population, American suburbs were practically rural landscapes, vast and untamed—a world still ruled by nature.

Glancing at her watch, Kagura Hitomi muttered softly, "They should be here soon."

"Kagura, targets are in sight."

Natasha Romanoff's voice crackled through the earpiece.

"Prepare to engage."

"Roger that."

Kagura Hitomi straightened up, her gaze fixed on the southern stretch of road.

Sure enough, faint car lights flickered in the distance as her HUD began scanning for target responses.

The convoy steadily approached: three black vehicles—a sedan leading and trailing a boxy, futuristic-looking transport truck in the center.

That truck was S.H.I.E.L.D.'s hijacked transport vehicle.

"Targets confirmed. Stick to the plan, Kagura. And be careful—don't get hurt," Natasha reminded.

"Got it," Kagura answered, activating her acceleration ability and starting the charge-up process.

The plan was straightforward: blow up the lead car, intercept the truck, eliminate any resistance, and drive off with the vehicle.

If they could capture someone alive to interrogate about the hijacking, even better—though mercenaries rarely cared about their employer's motives.

"Everything's set," Natasha's voice came through.

"The EMP mine is armed. Once we stop them, we finish this quickly. And Kagura—no flashy pulse abilities, okay? We need the cargo and truck intact."

"Understood."

As the convoy drew closer, Kagura crouched slightly, her core energy rippling outward.

Her silver hair floated gently, exuding an ethereal beauty.

"Countdown: 3, 2, 1..."

As Natasha's count hit zero, the convoy entered the designated interception zone.

BOOM!

An explosion ripped through the air, blue electrical arcs illuminating the night.

The lead sedan launched into the air as if it had hit a trampoline, then crashed back down, completely disabled.

"Move in!" Natasha commanded, tossing a smoke grenade and making her way from the opposite side of the road.

Kagura Hitomi sprang into action, her HUD displaying a flurry of data:

[Acceleration Boost: Activated]

Bang!

A shockwave rippled through the air as Kagura vanished from sight.

"We're under attack!" one mercenary yelled as he leaped out of the vehicle, weapon in hand.

"Where's the enemy?"

"I can't see anything in this smoke!"

"Switch to night vision!"

"Captain, we've hit some kind of mine! The lead car's systems are fried."

"Then push it off the road and keep moving!"

"Captain, we—"

A sudden buzz cut through the chaotic noise.

"What the hell?" The mercenary captain's face twisted in confusion.

"Jack? Jack! Where are you?"

"He was just here..."

Another brief gust swept past the convoy.

"Captain, our guys are disappearing!"

"Argh!"

A mercenary's scream echoed, followed by a heavy thud as his body slammed against the truck's side.

"Open fire! Shoot!"

Ratatatat!

Automatic gunfire spewed blindly in every direction.

"I got hit!"

"Idiot, you're shooting your own people!"

"But I can't see—"

A red blur flashed through the chaos. Another mercenary fell with a soft click.

"Damn it..." The captain gritted his teeth.

"Nobody told me we'd face opponents like this!"

Slamming the bolt of his rifle, he activated his shoulder communicator.

"We're losing control—bring him out!"

Click.

Before he could react, cold metal pressed against his left temple—a gun barrel.

On his right, a silver blade gleamed against his neck.

"Not bad, sis. You're quick."

"Thanks, sis. Glad you recognize my skills."

The two women grinned, their playful banter cutting through the tension as they pinned the captain to the ground.

"Well then..." Natasha knelt before the mercenary captain, her smile charming but deadly.

"As the last one standing, how about you share some useful information in exchange for your life?"

"Last one? Ha..." The captain smirked.

"Oh, ladies, believe me—you'll regret this. He doesn't care about sparing pretty faces."
