Chapter 177: Chapter 177 : Marvel’s most miserable hero loses his hero!
Thor gripped his hammer tightly and slammed it to the ground. A violent surge of electricity erupted from the impact, charging toward Alex Ray like a thunderous beast.
The force of the thunder felt like it was tearing the fabric of reality apart.
Yet, facing this devastating attack, Alex merely lifted a single finger.
Electricity gathered at his fingertip, the light dancing wildly, crackling as if it might ignite the very air.
He spoke with calm certainty, "Ten Billion Volt Thunder Dragon."
The moment his voice fell, a colossal dragon of lightning materialized at his fingertip.
Its entire body gleamed with a blinding light, resembling a true beast of thunder, roaring as it lunged toward Thor.
The dragon's power exploded on impact, completely devouring Thor's lightning like a predator consuming its prey.
Thor and Odin watched in shock.
They couldn't believe that a mortal could summon such a monstrous force of thunder.
Thor shouted, disbelieving, "How is this possible?!" His divine control over thunder and lightning was utterly eclipsed by a human.
Even as the massive dragon surged toward him, Thor didn't falter. He knew he couldn't endure the blow, but he still summoned every ounce of his strength to stand his ground.
The thunder dragon struck him with full force, engulfing him in a massive storm cloud of smoke and electricity.
When the smoke cleared, Thor's figure reemerged. His body was scorched and battered, the aftermath of enduring such destructive power.
But he was the God of Thunder. It would take more than that to kill him.
Loki watched with dread.
He couldn't fathom that a mortal could possess such terrifying strength.
Though his face remained composed, he cast a glance toward the fallen Thor and sneered, "You're just a brute without a brain."
Loki wasn't interested in Thor's power. His attention was solely fixed on Alex Ray.
"This is how lightning should be wielded, God of Hammers," Alex said dryly.
Alex's use of lightning against Thor wasn't just about dominance—it was mockery. He acknowledged that, despite Thor being the so-called god of thunder, he relied entirely on Mjolnir to access the vast electric force within him.
Thor hadn't yet learned to control the lightning within himself.
Then, Alex unleashed another barrage of lightning attacks.
Thunder roared, and storm-like bolts poured down on Thor like torrential rain.
"Chidori!" Alex gathered pure electricity in his palm and thrust it forward.
"Thirty Million Volts: Thunderbird!" A luminous thunderbird emerged at his command, wings blazing with electricity as it shrieked through the air toward Thor.
"Kirin!" Thunder boomed above, and a massive Kirin —a mythic beast sculpted from golden lightning—leapt from the storm clouds and dove at Thor with terrifying ferocity.
"Kirin" Alex roared, summoning a tiger of pure lightning to pounce forward. The resulting impact shook the ground, detonating in a crackling explosion.
"Super Railgun!" Finally, Alex channeled all his energy and summoned a devastating beam of electric force that shot down from the heavens, striking Thor dead-on.
The God of Thunder was sent flying, thunderstruck by the overwhelming barrage. He collapsed onto the ground, his eyes wide with disbelief.
As he looked up at Alex—whose mastery over lightning far surpassed his own—Thor began to wonder: Was Alex the true God of Thunder? Had he just been wielding a hammer this whole time?
Was he truly unworthy of the title?
Odin frowned. He understood what Alex was doing.
He wasn't just attacking Thor—he was teaching him a brutal lesson.
Alex could've used the chaotic energy or spatial magic within him to instantly end the fight. But instead, he chose lightning—Thor's own domain—as his weapon.
It wasn't just combat. It was symbolic.
Odin's intention had only been to humble his son a little, not destroy his confidence.
Thor was, after all, the heir to Asgard.
Now, seeing that Thor had lost the will to continue, Alex finally stopped his assault.
He didn't actually hate Thor.
Sure, the current Thor was arrogant, impulsive, and hot-headed—far less composed than Loki—but Alex also knew what was coming.
He knew the price Thor would pay for his personality.
He would lose his home, his family, his people.
Even his hammer.
Eventually, everything.
To Alex Ray, Thor was the most tragic of Marvel's heroes—the lost god.
Of course, part of why Alex used his Thunder Fruit powers was to avoid relying on more dangerous chaos magic. Odin had already displayed his pride and superiority—Alex needed to make his point.
He also wanted Thor to understand something:
You are the God of Thunder.
You are a God.
So stop acting like a brute swinging around the Mjolnir.
Alex stepped forward, eyes locked on Odin.
With challenge in his voice, he asked, "So, Lord Odin, what do you think of my strength now?"
Odin's expression grew serious. He was assessing Alex's power, his potential—and how best to respond.
But before Odin could speak, everything changed in an instant.
Loki appeared behind Alex like a phantom, a dagger shimmering with magic already pressed against Alex's spine.
One wrong move, and the blade would plunge in.
But Loki hesitated to kill.
This was, after all, just a contest.
And Alex, regardless of Loki's disdain for the Sorcerer Supreme lineage, was a guest of Odin's.
He couldn't murder him outright.
Instead, Loki turned his attention to Odin, raising his chin proudly, as if seeking validation. His eyes silently asked: Do you see? I'm the one worthy of being your son.
"Combat is about strategy," Loki said coolly. "Charging in without thinking will only lead to ruin. Isn't that right, Midgardian?"
But Odin didn't smile.
He didn't even nod.
Instead, his expression darkened.
"What are you doing?" Odin barked. "Put down our Asgardian soldier."
Loki blinked, stunned.
A soldier? But this was clearly Alex Ray.
Wasn't it?
Before Loki could react, the Ancient One appeared and said calmly, "That's enough, Alex. Come out."
"What?!" Loki shouted.
Then a familiar voice echoed from behind him.
"What made you think I wouldn't use illusions, Your Excellency… God of Mischief?"
Loki whirled around, eyes wide in disbelief.
The Alex Ray he held hostage shimmered and vanished—just an illusion.
The real Alex stood several feet away, calm, composed, and smiling faintly.
Even Odin's gaze shifted slightly, acknowledging Alex's mastery not just of power—but of deception, strategy, and restraint.
