Chapter 3: Chapter 3
Chapter 3: Peter Parker
In Dawes Elementary School in Queens, New York, school ends at 2 p.m. To hide his identity, Luke had no choice but to obey his adoptive parents' wishes and become an elementary school student once again after many years.
At this moment, he was carrying a small school bag with Ross inside. As the school crowd walked down the corridor, Luke followed behind a little boy.
This boy was from the next class. He was about the same height as Luke and looked very thin and frail. At the age of 7, he was only 1 meter tall, which was considered short for his peers, especially in a country where children mature early.
The boy had brown hair, was Caucasian, and his name was Peter Benjamin Parker.
Luke learned this after some inquiries, which were easy for a person with a 20-year-old soul in a child's body. According to Peter Parker's classmates, Peter was fostered by relatives. His uncle was Ben Parker, and his aunt was May Parker.
Yes, this was none other than the future Spider-Man, though at this stage, he was still a half-grown child, and could only be called Little Spider.
Discovering Peter Parker was a pleasant surprise for Luke.
After confirming that this was indeed the future Spider-Man, Luke kept an eye on the little boy, hoping for an opportunity to get closer.
As they passed the broom closet next to the corridor, a pair of hands suddenly reached out from inside and pulled Peter Parker in front.
Luke was stunned and stopped. The other children around him continued walking, ignoring the scene. The school bus had already stopped at the school gate.
Inside the broom closet, there were four little boys in front of Peter Parker: two black kids and two white ones. Two of them were quite fat. The four boys clenched their fists in a pretentious manner, cornering the skinny Peter Parker.
"Parker, remember what I said, don't leave after school. Are you forgetful?" One of the black boys pointed at Peter Parker's chest, speaking in a bad tone. He looked down at Peter, a full head taller than him.
"I-I didn't mean to bump into you," Peter Parker said weakly, shrinking into the corner.
"But you did," the black kid sneered.
"I'm sorry..." Peter apologized.
"Is that enough?" The black kid refused to let up. He and the other three boys moved closer, cracking their fingers. "Seems like you should learn to respect me, don't you think? Hmm? Who's the boss here?"
Just as a beating seemed imminent, a sigh was heard from the door of the broom closet.
Luke appeared at the door, watching the scene in front of him, wondering how a young kid could be bullied like this. Or rather, how Peter Parker could be bullied at such a young age. He remembered that Peter Parker was often bullied by classmates in high school.
"Who are you?" The black boy turned around and saw Luke. He sneered, "Yellow-skinned guy."
"Hey, hey, that's not polite," Luke spread his hands and said.
"Yellow-skinned guy!" The black boy repeated, and the other three kids joined in laughing.
"You know, there are two kinds of people I hate the most," Luke said, then shrugged and added, "One is racists."
The black kid's face immediately darkened. He gritted his teeth and pointed at Luke, saying to his friends, "Let's beat him up!"
The four boys rushed toward Luke, screaming.
Luke curled his lips. Thinking the opportunity was too good to miss, he took a step forward, focused his energy into his dantian, and threw a punch!
The "Inch Punch" was a signature move of the Wu Shen in DNF. In real life, it was a famous martial arts technique popularized by Bruce Lee. It was simple, quick, powerful, and fierce, delivering the greatest force in the shortest distance.
Thanks to the system, Luke had already mastered the Inch Punch by the time he learned it. In terms of technique alone, Luke was a master. Most adults who practiced for years couldn't match his level.
In actual combat, he wasn't as skilled as Bruce Lee yet. What limited the power of his punch was his current physical strength. After all, his body was still that of a 7-year-old. If he grew up, he believed he could surpass Bruce Lee.
But even so, it was more than enough to deal with a few troublesome kids.
Before Peter Parker, who was hiding in the corner, could fully see, Luke had already knocked all four boys to the ground with a few punches and kicks. The four kids lay on the floor, wailing.
"Chinese Kung Fu!" one of the black kids exclaimed, eyes wide open.
"Now that you know, why don't you get out of here!" Luke pretended to throw another punch.
Ross shouted from the schoolbag: "Kill them! Luke!"
"Run!" The boys quickly scrambled to their feet and ran away in a flash, terrified.
Luke clapped his hands lightly, uninterested in chasing them. He had only used a fraction of his strength, not wanting to hurt them. His goal was to drive them off, not hurt them like some crazy person.
Luke couldn't help but feel emotional. Today, he had finally accomplished a great feat—he had punched out a group of bullies and kicked some kindergarten punks out of the way!
Yes, he had!
"Hi, my name's Luke Nelson, what's yours?" Luke walked up to the corner, looking at Peter Parker, who was still confused, and asked knowingly.
Nelson was his adoptive father's surname, and it was the name on his school records.
The slightly dazed Peter Parker quickly regained his senses and said, "My name is Peter, Peter Parker. Thanks for helping me get rid of those guys. Thank you!"
"It's nothing," Luke smiled.
"Thank you so much! These guys are really annoying." Peter Parker was full of gratitude. He had often been bullied by those four boys, who would demand that he stay after school if they disagreed with him.
But Peter couldn't fight back, so he would always hide.
In American culture, the option to "sue the teacher" wasn't really available. That would be even more embarrassing.
Luke's stunning performance, knocking out four boys with just a few precise punches, deeply impressed and inspired the future Spider-Man. Peter Parker, who also knew a little martial arts, was excited and kept pestering Luke to show him a few more moves.
Luke pretended to be profound and said, "Martial arts are for fighting, not for performing."
Peter Parker thought this made a lot of sense. He felt like he was looking up at a mountain, with Luke standing far above him.
At that moment, a system prompt came to Luke's mind: Peter Parker's favorability +10.
The corners of Luke's mouth rose slightly, barely perceptible.
That was exactly what he had wanted—to get close to Peter Parker.
Favorability was incredibly useful. If you maxed it out, you could learn that person's skills. For example, Spider-Man's web-slinging, wall-crawling, and self-healing abilities were something Luke greatly envied. Right now, Peter Parker's favorability was only at 10, and it took 100 points to max it out.
As an adult, he found this easy to do.
Luke, who had helped Peter Parker quite a bit, naturally became friends with him. The two walked out of the school together, got on the school bus, and sat side by side.
Just as in the plot, Peter Parker was very talkative and outgoing. Luke quickly grew annoyed by him and began to wonder whether it had been a good idea to get close to Spider-Man. One Rotus was loud enough.
The school bus passed by a large billboard, and on the big screen, Iron Man was flying across the sky.
Peter Parker immediately leaned against the window, mouth half-open, exclaiming, "Cool!" By this time, Spider-Man had already become a huge fan of Iron Man.
