As Emma sobbed, Mike hesitated, unsure whether to comfort her. Suddenly, Raven rushed toward him. However, when she was just a few steps away, she slowed down, leaped lightly, wrapped her arms around his neck, and hooked her legs around his waist.

Scott and Richie were stunned by the scene.

"You bastard!" Raven exclaimed, her emotions surging. She couldn't help but plant a kiss on Mike and said excitedly, "How did you get here? How did you manage to come?"

Mike patted Raven lightly and said, "Get down."

"Oh!" Raven obediently stood on the ground but continued to look at him with gratitude and admiration.

Mike smirked slightly and said, "Don't look at me like that. I'm already a father, you know."

Raven pouted and replied, "So what?"

Hearing this, Scott and Richie perked up their ears.

These two... seem to have a story.

Noticing their expressions, Mike's smirk deepened, and a mischievous glint appeared in his eyes. He looked at Raven with a serious expression and said, "Raven, you can't talk like that. If your sister finds out, it'll be bad for both of us."

Raven was stunned. "?"

What sister? When did I have a sister?

Meanwhile, Scott and Richie were dumbfounded.

(`Д)!!

What's going on?

They cautiously watched Mike and Raven, their curiosity burning like wildfire.

This... this is way too thrilling.

Realizing their expressions and noticing the mischief in Mike's eyes, Raven's lips twitched.

"You're such a jerk!"

She cursed at him, but then she suddenly leaned in, wrapped her arms around his neck again, pressed her body against his, and teasingly blew into his ear. In a sultry tone, she said, "Isn't this exactly what you like?"

Gulp!

Scott and Richie nervously swallowed hard.

Mike's smirk faltered.

He couldn't keep up. He was no match for her.

He cleared his throat lightly and pointed at Emma, who was standing nearby. "Shouldn't you go and comfort her?"

Raven froze for a moment, then awkwardly walked toward Emma.

She had been so thrilled earlier that she had completely forgotten about Emma.

When Raven reached her, Emma wiped away her tears and reverted to her usual cold and aloof demeanor.

She glanced at Raven and the others and said sternly, "What happened to me earlier... don't you dare tell anyone!"

"Earlier?"

Richie scratched his head, confused.

Scott nudged him with his elbow, and Richie's eyes lit up. "Oh, you mean being treated as a—"

Whoosh!

An invisible force surged into Richie's mind under Emma's sharp gaze, freezing him in place and forcing him to shut his mouth.

"If you say another word, I'll erase your memories," Emma warned.

Scott and Raven nodded fearfully, while Emma, after withdrawing her power, glared at Richie, who let out an awkward laugh and retreated two steps.

Emma then said, "Let's get out of here quickly."

The commotion they had caused was far too much.

Everyone nodded in agreement.

Emma turned to Mike and said, "Thank you again."

If not for Mike, she wouldn't have been able to avenge her sister. In fact, she and the others might not have made it out alive.

"Stop saying thank you," Mike replied.

"No, it's necessary."

"You don't get it," Mike suddenly said, looking at her. "If you really want to thank me, do something tangible."

Emma froze, while Scott and Richie couldn't hold back their laughter.

Raven glared at Mike. "How shameless can you be?"

Mike shrugged. "She's the one insisting on thanking me."

Emma glanced at Mike indifferently and said, "Fine. When we get back, I'll have Raven deliver it to you."

"Well..." Raven glanced at Emma, hesitating. "I won't be going back with you guys today. I haven't seen him in a long time. I want to have a proper chat with him."

Emma gave Raven a teasing glance, and Raven awkwardly turned her face away.

"Let's go."

Emma waved to Scott and Richie before turning to leave.

Scott and Richie blew a whistle at Mike, then, after finding the bodies of their two fallen companions, they loaded them into the vehicle and quickly left.

There had been deaths on both sides during the battle, but compared to their enemies, losing only two people was still a relatively small price to pay.

Even though they were prepared for injuries, or even death, when they chose to rescue Raven, Emma and her team had been mentally prepared for the worst.

Raven knew this all too well, but as she watched Scott and the others carry away the bodies, she couldn't hide the sorrow on her face.

"Let's go."

Hearing the distant sound of police sirens, Mike placed a hand on Raven's shoulder and held out a teleportation card. In the blink of an eye, they vanished.

Moments later, several police cars arrived at the battlefield.

Under the heavy snow, the ground was scarred and ravaged, as if it had been the site of an intense battle.

The earth was cracked open, deep pits scattered around like monstrous, gaping mouths.

Scorched marks, signs of corrosion, and cuts made by sharp blades marred the landscape...

Looking at these signs of battle, everyone couldn't help but feel a chill run down their spines. What was even more disturbing were the bodies scattered across the battlefield.

There were dozens of them, and judging by the evidence of the fight... these people were mutants?

What were they doing? Why had they fought?

As the police were left baffled, the head of the New York Police Department, a wrinkled man with graying hair who appeared to be in his sixties, walked onto the battlefield with a stoic expression.

He lowered his head, as if searching for something.

When he saw several familiar faces, including Erwin's, his complexion turned pale. Upon spotting the body of Mister Horror, his legs nearly gave out, and he stumbled, almost falling to the ground.

After a moment, he composed himself and ordered the other officers to clean up the scene. He then walked to a police car, his face contorting with pain as he angrily shouted, "Shit! Damn shit! You're a pile of fucking dog shit!"

Damn Essex!

He closed his eyes, painfully grabbed his hair, and leaned back against the car, defeated.

He had agreed to work with Mister Horror, setting up a trap within the police department, not only to capture Hellfire but also because Mister Horror had promised to treat his cancer.

Although he had agreed to serve Mister Horror in exchange, as long as he survived, he didn't mind the arrangement.

Now, not only had he lost everything, but he was also left with a complete mess to clean up.

Looking at the shattered land and the numerous bodies, and seeing the news vans already arriving, his headache worsened.

What was he supposed to do with all this? How would the journalists report it?

And how would he explain this to his superiors?

Recalling the promises he had made when he first agreed to work with Mister Horror, and how confident he had been when he made those promises, he now felt nothing but regret.

Just then, his phone rang.

After a brief hesitation, he picked it up.

"Starting tomorrow, you should take a proper rest."

Before he could respond, the call was abruptly ended.

It was over...

He cradled his head in his hands, groaning in pain.
