A month ago, after learning from Nick Fury's little agent that there was discord between the Black and White Kings of the Hellfire Club, they tried to make contact with the White King, Scott.

Although Scott rejected their offer to cooperate and refused their suggestion to capture the Black King, he did not make things difficult for their people.

This was good news for them, as it meant there was still hope if they could talk.

However, before they could persuade Scott to cooperate, just a week ago, Scott suddenly appeared before them, bringing an "explosive" piece of news.

The Black King was planning to release a virus.

This virus could kill ordinary humans, but mutants were immune. Moreover, it could activate the powers of dormant mutants. However, mutants awakened in this way would be under the Black King's control.

The virus's range of destruction would be global.

At this point, Howard Stark fell silent.

And Mike grew quiet as well.

Global…

Even if it wasn't as exaggerated as it sounded, it would likely cover this country without a problem.

"Mr. Kent!" Peggy Carter said earnestly, "We truly need your strength, and you could become a role model for your children, a hero of this world."

A role model and a hero?

Mike raised an eyebrow.

It was an interesting, yet weak argument.

However, if that crazy guy succeeded, what kind of world would be left for Clark and the others?

That was something Mike didn't want to see.

So, he asked softly, "Besides me and Remy, who else?"

Hearing this, Howard and Peggy exchanged looks, their faces lighting up with joy.

"Mr. Kent, thank you for your decision."

Peggy Carter's eyes were full of approval.

Howard Stark said, "There's also Scott, and two other planned candidates."

"Planned candidates?"

"Hank Pym and Wolverine."

Mike was stunned. "Those two?"

Howard Stark smiled. "Wolverine is an X-Weapon created by Strick, and he's also a friend of yours and Remy's. Remy has already agreed to talk him into joining."

"As for Hank Pym, although you're friends with him, you may not be aware of his other identity…"

No, I know very well, and he's been defeated by my 'hand' several times, spending quite some time in the hospital afterward.

Mike couldn't help but secretly snicker to himself, but listened as Howard continued, "He's also a powerful individual, known as Ant-Man."

Mike nodded. Noticing the strange looks exchanged between the two, he raised an eyebrow. "Hmm? What are you two up to?"

"Well..." Howard rubbed his hands awkwardly. "We had some disagreements with Hank in the past, so you'll need to handle him."

"Heh, your plans are pretty clear."

Not only did they want him to work hard, but they also expected him to be the mediator.

Mike looked at them, a mocking smile playing at his lips. "I remember Hank telling me that some jerks were trying to secretly copy his research. Those jerks… are you two, aren't they?"

Howard and Peggy's faces turned awkward.

"I can go talk to him." Before they could even thank him, Mike turned the conversation. "But you'll have to apologize to him first. Only then will I have a chance of convincing him to join this mission."

Peggy Carter hesitated for a moment, then nodded. However, Howard showed some resistance. "The copying of his research wasn't my responsibility. I…"

"Stop!" Mike raised his hand. "Even if it wasn't you, you must have known about it, yet you did nothing to stop it."

Howard's face darkened as he stood up angrily, but Peggy reached out and pulled him back down.

"Ugh!" He took a deep breath and sat back down dejectedly. "I'll cooperate."

It was cooperation, though he viewed it as a mission.

If it helped ease his own resistance, then so be it.

Mike paused for a moment before saying, "One more thing. My involvement should only be known to you few."

Howard nodded. "You don't need to worry about that. The only ones who know about your situation are Peggy and me, and Nick Fury, who initiated the investigation. It's now sealed as a top-secret file."

"Sealed?" Mike raised an eyebrow. "It's better if you don't keep any of my information. It's fine as long as you know."

Peggy Carter promptly agreed.

Next, Mike made a phone call to Hank Pym in front of them.

Mike first told Hank about the Black King's plans. While Hank was silent, Mike handed the phone to Howard and Peggy, letting them apologize for past matters. As Hank's emotions ran high, they explained the consequences of the Black King's success. Finally, they received a response from Hank.

"Alright, I'll join. Not because of those SHIELD jerks, but for my daughter."

There was a brief pause, and then his tone lightened. "You're one hell of a guy, huh? Ha, I knew you weren't just anyone. You can't hide it anymore, can you?"

Hearing Hank's smug tone, Mike let out a cold laugh. "Say hello to your doctor for me."

"You…"

Before Hank could finish his retort, Mike hung up the phone.

Howard and Peggy looked at Mike in confusion. "What's up with Hank? Doctor?"

"He's fine, just bored."

Mike casually replied, "When do we move? Where is the Black King planning to release the virus?"

Howard sighed. "Scott's still confirming the details. We should hear back in two days."

"Once it's confirmed, get in touch with me."

Mike said flatly, glancing at the clock on the wall. "It's getting late. I need to prepare dinner. As for you two…?"

Howard unabashedly said, "Then you'll have to trouble yourself."

Peggy Carter gave a graceful smile.

Mike's eye twitched.

This guy really wasn't shy.

But Mike wasn't petty. It was just a matter of two sets of dishes, after all.

Mike looked at the two of them, paused for a few seconds, then shrugged. Considering their gray hair, he decided to forgo sending them to the hospital.

Leaving them in the living room, Mike turned on the TV for them and headed to the kitchen to prepare.

The TV played the eternally tireless chase of Tom and Jerry, and Howard and Peggy were engrossed in it.

They rarely had such leisurely moments.

Listening to the laughter coming from the living room, Mike shook his head.

He didn't want to live like these two—too exhausted by life.

When he got older…

"Ugh, I'm still young! Why am I thinking about this?"

Mike muttered to himself.

Half an hour later, Clark and the others returned home from school. Upon seeing guests, they quickly became well-behaved.

The clever and sharp trio won Howard and Peggy's affection in no time.
