---

The invisible force of psychic energy shielded Mike, rendering him immune to Emma's mental control. Watching the White Queen slowly approach Logan, Mike pretended that nothing had happened, observing the situation unfold while remaining ready to intervene at any moment.

After all, the unresolved tension between the two needed to be addressed.

Interestingly, Mike noticed that while Emma was furious, she didn't exude any intent to kill.

Emma stopped in front of Logan and placed her hands on his temples. Her psychic energy surged forward, delving into his mind to search for traces of Carla.

To her surprise, she found memories of Carla almost effortlessly.

There it all was: the sweetness of their love, Logan's joy upon learning of Carla's feigned death, and the pain he felt when he discovered her deception...

These emotions were etched into Logan's mind, so vivid and profound that Emma couldn't help but be deeply moved.

What shocked her even more was that, despite Carla's lies, Logan bore no hatred for her. Instead, his feelings were a bittersweet blend of regret and love.

Logan had truly loved her sister—far more deeply than Emma had imagined.

His pain was no less than hers.

After a moment of contemplation, Emma erased the harsh words she had just spoken to Logan from his mind.

As she empathized with Logan's anguish and watched the painful memories unfold, Emma's eyes glistened with tears. Hastily, she withdrew her psychic powers and released Logan, fearing she might break down and cry if she delved any deeper.

Mike exhaled in relief as he observed her actions.

Although he didn't know what Emma had seen in Logan's mind, it seemed the issue between them had been resolved.

Did Emma just resolve her own internal conflict?

Mike chuckled to himself. As the psychic grip loosened and life returned to the café, he remained seated, his composure unbroken.

Logan blinked in confusion as he looked at Emma and gave her a polite nod. He no longer remembered what had just occurred.

Emma took a seat across from the group, her gaze falling on Scott, who seemed to want to speak but hesitated.

"If you want to stop him, you need to act quickly."

Scott stared at Emma in surprise, unsure of what had just transpired.

Emma continued, "He plans to release the virus in a highly publicized event to announce his 'new world.' The virus must be released from high altitude. Think—what recent events fit those conditions?"

Mike furrowed his brow in thought. A moment of clarity struck him, and he said, "A satellite! There's a satellite launch scheduled for 8 p.m. tonight."

He recalled the government's televised announcements about the moon-bound satellite, which would be broadcast live.

Logan and Scott looked at Mike in astonishment. "How do you know that?"

Mike raised an eyebrow. "Don't you watch the news?"

"Uh…"

Both men awkwardly looked away.

Emma nodded. "Since you already know, my role here is done."

Pausing for a moment, she turned to Mike and said, "Thank you for your help the last two times. If you ever need my assistance in the future, just ask."

With that, she rose, gave Logan a lingering look, and began walking toward the exit.

Suddenly, Logan called out, "You're not planning to join them, are you?"

Emma stopped in her tracks and smirked faintly. "Who knows?"

She left without another word, her steps swift and deliberate.

Watching her retreating figure, Logan murmured, "Maybe we should find a way to keep her here."

Mike and Scott immediately turned to Logan, their expressions a mix of shock and disbelief, as if they were staring at a monster.

"You'd make a move on your sister-in-law?"

"She literally just helped us by giving crucial information!"

"For God's sake!" Logan swore, glaring at the two of them. "What are you thinking? I meant capturing her because her abilities are too dangerous—not anything else!"

"Oh…"

The two deliberately dragged out their responses, smirking.

Logan's mouth twitched as he resisted the urge to claw at both of them.

"Let's move. We don't have much time."

Mike's voice brought them back to focus. He and Scott headed for the door, and Logan sighed before following.

---

Back at the hotel, they relayed the information to the rest of the team. After a brief discussion with Howard and the others, the group of six immediately set off for California.

With time running out, they rushed to the airport. The plane took off swiftly, heading toward their destination.

To avoid alerting the Black King and risk him moving the virus, the team, after discussing with Howard and Peggy Carter, decided to let the satellite launch proceed as planned. To maintain secrecy, they didn't inform the satellite base about the specific situation, fearing any slip-up might expose their plan.

All their hopes now rested on the Thunder Squad.

---

Meanwhile, California, Vandenberg Air Force Base.

The base was bustling with activity as personnel conducted final checks in preparation for the satellite launch.

In a secluded corner of the base, red mist swirled, and several figures materialized.

The Black King, the Black Queen, Azazel (the Red Devil), Riptide, and several other powerful mutants had arrived.

A patrolling soldier, startled by the sudden appearance of the group, was about to raise the alarm when Azazel vanished from his spot and reappeared before the soldier. With a single hand, he grabbed the man by the throat and lifted him off the ground.

Terrified, the soldier reached for the gun at his waist.

Azazel's figure flickered again, and he reappeared beside the Black Queen, leaving the soldier unharmed but visibly shaken.

The Black Queen, Selene Gallio, a seductive figure with flowing black hair, smiled faintly at the soldier. She reached out and gently touched him, activating her ability.

Life Absorption.

Selene could drain a person's life force, using the absorbed energy for various purposes. If she completely drained someone, they would turn to dust. However, by only taking a portion, she could control them for a limited time.

The soldier let out a cry of pain, but by the time Azazel released him, his expression had changed to one of reverence as he stared at Selene.

Selene gave a faint smile and said to the Black King, "Let's move. Take advantage of this final inspection to load 'New World' into the rocket."

The Black King nodded and instructed the soldier, "Get us some disguises."

The soldier obeyed without hesitation and quickly ran off.

Moments later, the group donned military uniforms provided by the soldier. Using Selene's abilities, they took control of the guards stationed around the rocket as well as the engineers conducting the final checks. With the area under their control, they loaded the virus into the rocket.

Once everything was completed, the Black King turned to Selene, pulling her into his arms. "My dear, return to the club and keep an eye on Emma. Don't let her interfere. Leave the rest to us."

The White Queen, Emma Frost, remained a source of distrust for the Black King. Despite her proclaimed neutrality, he viewed such a stance as tantamount to betrayal at any moment.

He couldn't help but regret allowing Scott and Emma to leave alive back then.

But who could have predicted Selene's arrival would change everything?

Selene leaned in and kissed the Black King. "Then I'll go back and enjoy this grand fireworks display."

The Black King smiled and signaled to Azazel.

In the next instant, Azazel teleported away with Selene, leaving the Black King staring at the rocket in the distance, his expression alight with fervent excitement.
