Chapter 416: Demi-Gods

Rocket glanced unhappily at the towering figures and then at Jasper, who had regained his physical form. Pouting, he muttered:

"This is so unfair!"

"And why is it that this guy, clearly an Earth human, has a dimensional level higher than us 'demigods'?"

Rocket was now at the early stage of the seventh dimension. During their journey through the wormhole, Zane had explained that beings who achieved godhood through divine power were not true gods.

Only by reaching the eighth dimension and mastering a rule of the Omniversal order could one truly be called a god.

However, Rocket refused to accept Zane's term "false gods" and instead referred to himself and others like him as "demigods."

Yet, not long after becoming a "god" and arriving in this ultimate universe, he found that this Earth human in front of him was a higher-level existence, which left him feeling somewhat conflicted.

Zane heard Rocket's complaint and nodded lightly in agreement.

Back when Jasper's body was reformed by Zane using the power of the Phoenix Force and he fought Venom, Zane had already noticed that Jasper had reached the advanced stage of the seventh dimension. This was comparable to Bastis, who had absorbed significant death energy from the [Divine Realm].

On the other hand, Venom, who had taken over Jasper's body, was even stronger, surpassing Bastis and only slightly weaker than Lorna, who had reached the peak of the seventh dimension.

Now, with Jasper regaining his body, he had advanced further from his previous high-level seventh-dimensional state.

Sensing the doubt and curiosity about his strength, Jasper puffed out his chest proudly and declared:

"I, Jasper, am an Omega-level mutant and the strongest mutant in this Ultimate Universe 1610!"

The group noticed the subtle change in Jasper's self-description. After his defeat by Venom, "the strongest in the universe" had become "the strongest mutant in the universe."

"In fact," someone interjected, "it might be because the Ultimate Universe has weaker constraints on energy beings compared to the Prime Universe."

"The dimensional structure of this universe is also less stable than that of the Prime Universe."

"Therefore, advancing to higher dimensions here is less challenging—even reaching the eighth dimension might not be as difficult."

"But at the same time, it comes with a significant drawback."

"When ascending to the eighth dimension, one's insights might be lacking, potentially missing the opportunity to elevate their potential to a higher cosmic tier."

Roma, recalling her father Merlin's teachings, slowly explained this to the group.

Zane listened thoughtfully, realizing that at higher dimensions, the level alone was not the most important factor. One's cosmic tier was the critical determinant.

For instance, the previous Galactus, though also at the seventh dimension, was slightly superior to Zane at the same level.

However, due to insufficient energy manipulation, Galactus had been utterly overpowered by Zane, who was Omnipotent.

Similarly, while Jasper now possessed a Multiversal tier, according to Roma, even if he ascended to the eighth dimension in this Ultimate Universe, he would likely remain at the Multiversal tier.

In this case, Zane was fully confident that he could still overpower Jasper in a head-to-head battle.

Unlike Zane's companions, who surged through several dimensions while crossing the wormhole to reach the Ultimate Universe, Zane himself remained stuck at the early stage of the eighth dimension.

When he defeated Death, he was already at the early eighth dimension.

Even after becoming the Reaper of the Omniversal Realm, absorbing an endless flow of soul energy and being empowered by the rules of death, he still lingered at the same level—his foundation merely solidified.

Yet he lacked the final push to step into the mid-tier of the eighth dimension.

Zane understood that this stagnation was tied to the growing number of human races within the Omniversal Realm discovering ways to ascend to higher-dimensional lifeforms.

As more humans gained from these advancements, their lifespans grew exponentially longer—some even becoming infinitely immortal beings.

This, in turn, led to a decline in the supply of primal soul energy, upon which the Reaper of Death relied.

At that moment, Zane realized why his predecessor, the former Reaper of Death, had been so obsessed with spreading slaughter across the Omniversal Realm.

She had cultivated loyal followers and nurtured potential killing machines across different dimensional universes, all with the goal of harvesting more souls to replenish her dwindling essence of soul energy.

Zane now faced a similar bottleneck.

Although he had gradually refined the rules of death, this obstacle remained immovable, leaving him with an unsettling thought—that the only way to ascend might be to annihilate every lifeform in the Omniversal Realm.

It was then, as Jasper had transformed the surrounding grand pyramids into towering statues, clearing the view, that the group noticed something.

In a far corner stood a glowing orb radiating a dazzling spectrum of colors.

"Chaos magic?"

Roma suddenly voiced a term that baffled the group.

The glowing orb rested in the corner, next to a slightly smaller pyramid behind the Great Sphinx pyramid.

When Zane had used his [Mangekyō Sharingan] to locate Venom earlier, his view had been blocked by the Sphinx, causing him to overlook the smaller pyramid behind it.

Now it seemed this small pyramid had likely been Venom's hiding place before the group arrived.

Venom must have teleported from there into the Sphinx pyramid's interior the moment they approached.

But what exactly was this glowing orb that had been with Venom all along?

With that question in mind, the group approached the orb to investigate.
