Marvel Multiverse: Family System

Chapter 39: Chapter 39

"Oscorp Biotech has been acquired by me."

"Although the radioactive spider was part of a previous research project, it's now part of my business, so I've come to personally resolve the situation."

"Don't worry. With me here, you're not going to die."

"On the contrary…"

"There might be some unexpected benefits."

With just a few words, Vex distanced himself from the "radioactive spider bite incident" while simultaneously portraying a responsible image.

Gwen's favorability toward him skyrocketed!

Her eyes sparkled as she looked at Vex—just like…

Darcy used to

---

Gwen's eyes sparkled, fully displaying the look of a fangirl. Vex had basically won her over, so he didn't rush things further. He opened his Treasury of the King and pulled out a document.

"This is the project file for the radioactive spider. Once you've read it, you'll understand."

Gwen was a bit taken aback, especially when she saw the label on the file—Top Secret Military Document.

"Am I even allowed to see this?" Gwen asked, uncertain.

"If I'm giving it to you, no one will cause you any trouble," Vex said confidently.

Gwen, feeling reassured, grew confident herself. She blushed a little for reasons unknown and quickly took the file, using it to shield her face.

Vex just smiled without saying anything.

Winning over this girl was only a matter of time.

The tricky part…

Might be getting her parents to agree to him having multiple wives.

But that shouldn't be too big of a problem.

"Alpha, send a message to Fury. Tell him to promote Gwen's father."

[Message sent.]

With a single sentence, Gwen's father, George, got a promotion.

Since U.S. states are autonomous and can make their own laws, George, who was the police commissioner, was now on track to enter city government—likely as a deputy mayor of New York City.

If things progressed further, perhaps one day he could even become mayor or governor, especially once Vex and Gwen solidified their relationship.

As Vex pondered this, Gwen finished reading the file, her expression strange.

The full title of the "radioactive spider" project was The Super Soldier Program, designed to replicate Captain America and create super soldiers.

Those bitten by the radioactive spider would gain spider-like abilities, such as super strength, super agility, vertical climbing, web-slinging, and more.

The ultimate goal was to mass-produce super soldiers to serve as an unstoppable force.

"This is unbelievable. The military is really conducting experiments like this?" Gwen remarked.

"There are many such experiments," Vex chuckled. "The Hulk and Abomination, who appeared recently, are also products of another super soldier program."

Gwen slapped her forehead. "What are these people doing with our taxpayer money?"

Vex smiled but said nothing. The tendencies of the U.S. military were well-known.

"So, does this mean I've succeeded?" Gwen asked. "I thought the Super Soldier Program was a failure? How did I…"

"You're very lucky to have met me," Vex said with a smile. "It would be a real shame for such a young and vibrant girl to have her life cut short."

Vex didn't explain the specifics, but Gwen immediately attributed her success to him, considering the "one-in-a-billion" odds of surviving.

"I really… don't know how to thank you!" Gwen said gratefully. "Though I have limited abilities, if you ever need anything, just ask!"

"Oh?" Vex raised an eyebrow. "Anything?"

"Yes, anything!" Gwen affirmed.

Vex smirked mischievously, causing Gwen to freeze for a moment before her face turned crimson.

Could he be thinking…?

If he really asked for something like that, would she agree…?

"Great, then how about a little exercise?" Vex said slyly.

Gwen blushed even harder, lowering her head, unsure of how to respond.

Vex slowly extended his hand, and Gwen quickly shut her eyes.

I can't see! Do whatever you want!

However…

Vex's hand merely landed on her head, and an odd sensation followed.

Startled, she opened her eyes, only to find that they were no longer in the park but in a closed room surrounded by a variety of weapons.

Could Vex be…

Planning to exercise here?

"No way!" Gwen shook her head hurriedly. "This is my first time! At least find a…"

"Huh? First time for what?" Vex teased. "I just want to test your abilities. This place is perfect for that."

Gwen: "..."

Her face turned even redder, steam practically rising from her head.

How embarrassing!

She couldn't believe she'd misunderstood!

But then she realized what had happened and glared at the grinning Vex.

"You misled me on purpose, didn't you?"

"Ah, well, you're too cute. I couldn't resist teasing you," Vex apologized with a smile. "As compensation, let's start helping you get familiar with your powers."

"Hmph!"

Gwen huffed, using her anger to mask her embarrassment, and began the tests.

The first and most obvious ability was strength—Vex conjured a one-ton iron block, and Gwen lifted it with ease, without even needing to use both hands.

She could climb smooth walls, dodge projectiles without looking, and even shot her first web from her wrist!

---

After an afternoon of testing, Gwen had a basic understanding of her new abilities.

And thanks to Vex's presence, she easily accepted her transformation.

"Now I'm definitely stronger than Captain America!" Gwen said excitedly.

"Want to find out for sure? You could spar with him," Vex said casually. "He just woke up yesterday. He should be in good shape by now."

Gwen "Uh.."

She grabbed Vex's arm excitedly and stared at him.

"Captain America is alive?!"

"Yeah, he was frozen for seventy years, so he hasn't aged much," Vex nodded. "S.H.I.E.L.D. asked me to treat him, and I just woke him up yesterday."

"Can I spar with him?" Gwen asked eagerly.

"Just spar? Don't you want an autograph too?" Vex teased.

Gwen was tempted for a moment but then shook her head, remembering the autograph on her back.

"Yours is enough."

Hmm… Is that her way of showing loyalty?

Vex was pleased.

After all… seeing his woman fangirling over another man, screaming and cheering, would have felt like a thorn in his side.

It seemed Gwen, though only 18, was quite sensible.
