Chapter 74: Chapter 74: Dealing with Baron.
Kurogai looked at the twins in front of him, feeling a slight surprise. These were Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch.
According to Kurogai's memory, the two should have been captured as test subjects by Baron Strucker in the future. But the Marvel timeline was chaotic, with multiple balanced universes overlapping, so it wasn't impossible for them to appear here now.
However, these details weren't the main point. What mattered most was their value.
One was Quicksilver, with incredible speed, and the other was Scarlet Witch, who wielded chaos magic. Both were incredibly valuable in the future. Now that they stood before him, if Kurogai saved them, they could serve him going forward.
He only needed to open a spatial portal and send them out of this Hydra base. Then, he would gain two powerful allies for the future.
This opportunity was like a gift from the heavens—something even Kurogai hadn't expected.
"Can you do it? We're willing to do anything," Wanda said, her voice shaking with uncertainty. They had nothing left, and their only bargaining chip was their potential future value, though they didn't even know what that would be. That's why they were hesitant.
All of this fear came from Baron Strucker. His Hydra base conducted horrific experiments on humans, and many prisoners died because of it. That left a dark shadow over the siblings.
Others had gone mad trying to escape, and Wanda and Pietro feared death if they stayed. They chose to strike this deal with Kurogai because fleeing gave them hope. Staying meant certain doom.
No matter how you looked at it, this was a favor to Kurogai. If he knew Baron Strucker was the cause of their desperation, he might even thank him.
"Of course, I like this deal. But remember, if you choose to trade with me, you'll belong to me from now on," Kurogai said, a faint smile appearing on his lips. Magic surged around him as golden sparks formed a complex rune floating before him.
It wasn't a complicated spell—just a simple tracking magic, like the one he had left on Skye before. It would let him know their location, but he wasn't forcing them. If they agreed, he would accept them.
"Decide carefully. If you're truly willing to follow me, these two runes will bind you, but I won't force it," Kurogai said calmly. Being marked by him meant belonging to him.
"We agree," Wanda and Pietro exchanged a look, then nodded firmly. The golden rune flashed and sealed itself onto the backs of their hands.
"Good. Go outside and wait for me. I'll come for you once this is settled."
Kurogai opened a spatial portal and pushed it toward them. They stepped through and vanished from the Hydra base.
None of the prisoners knew that while they struggled to escape, two had already left—though it had come at a great cost.
On a small hill not far from the base, Wanda and Pietro emerged from the golden light, still stunned.
"Are we really safe?" Pietro asked, his voice full of disbelief.
"Probably," Wanda answered, equally uncertain.
According to their expectations, escaping would have been a long, difficult journey. But Kurogai's magic had whisked them safely away instantly.
It felt like a dream.
"What do we do now?" Pietro asked, looking to his sister.
Wanda thought for a moment. This day was unforgettable—they had barely processed it. But recalling Kurogai's mysterious powers, she made her decision.
"Let's wait. That man isn't ordinary. He might be like a god. His abilities are beyond normal, and I have a feeling that waiting for him here will change our lives forever."
Wanda's conviction was strong; she refused to miss this chance.
"I understand, sister." Pietro nodded, trusting her judgment and willing to wait by her side.
Kurogai had no idea how quickly the siblings' thoughts had changed, but even if he did, he would only smile quietly. Different choices led to different outcomes, and this was theirs.
For now, Kurogai still had business to attend to—namely, dealing with the big boss, Baron Strucker.
