Chapter 81: Chapter 81: Third Eye Prowess.
Logan would do anything to uncover his past. So, even though Kurogai had simply offered him a drink, when he touched that nerve in Logan's heart, Logan didn't hesitate to threaten him.
If Kurogai refused to share what he knew, Logan wouldn't mind forcing it out of him.
That was how Logan operated. And while Kurogai seemed easygoing on the surface, his nature was anything but gentle — reckless, even. So, with Logan's provocation, tension between them ignited immediately.
"Logan, don't push your luck," Kurogai said coldly, eyes narrowing.
He had already pointed Logan toward New York, where he could find answers to his past. That was more than fair. If Logan insisted on crossing this line, Kurogai wasn't going to tolerate it. And when Kurogai was displeased, things had a way of getting dangerous.
"In that case," Logan growled, irritation flaring as the alcohol hit him, "I'll beat it out of you!"
Without warning, Logan lunged forward, his gleaming Adamantium claws flashing.
Kurogai sighed. "Why bother?" he murmured as his right hand rose.
In an instant, magic energy surged through Kurogai's body, forming a glowing rune in the air. A sword made of crackling light and heat materialized in his hand and hurtled toward Logan.
"What the hell is this? Ah, whatever — bring it on!" Logan snarled.
His healing factor made him fearless, and he swung his claws without hesitation to intercept the magic blade.
Boom!
The moment their weapons collided, a powerful explosion erupted, sending Logan flying and crashing to the ground, face-first in the dirt.
Logan groaned as he staggered to his feet. His skin was scorched and torn, blood streaking his chest — a rare sight. Even with his remarkable regeneration, that blast had left a mark.
"Cough… cough… what the hell kind of ability is that?" Logan muttered, staring at Kurogai like he'd seen a ghost.
He'd seen mutants with crazy powers before, but this was on another level. Magic wasn't something Logan understood. In his mind, he chalked it up as another terrifying mutant ability.
But Kurogai didn't answer. His gaze was distant, as though distracted by something only he could sense.
In truth, Kurogai's Ultimate Eye, which had remained dormant for some time, had suddenly reacted. All of Kurogai's attention was fixed on the new message it delivered.
After a long pause, Kurogai finally returned to his senses, his expression shifting from irritation to something bordering on excitement.
Because at that moment, the Ultimate Eye had revealed a condition for unlocking the third eye ring — acquiring mutant blood.
That was it.
Logan was the key.
"Logan, you might just be my lucky star," Kurogai said quietly, his tone unreadable.
He'd spent ages chasing rare conditions to activate the Ultimate Eye's advanced abilities. Countless attempts had failed. And now, by pure chance, this violent drunkard had dropped the perfect opportunity into his lap.
Logan's regenerative blood wasn't just valuable — it was possibly enough to open and strengthen the third eye ring.
To Kurogai, Logan now looked less like an adversary and more like a walking treasure chest.
"Why are you staring at me like that? I don't swing that way, pal," Logan grunted, misreading the expression on Kurogai's face and taking a step back.
Kurogai's brow twitched. "Neither do I, idiot," he snapped.
Still, he quickly steered the conversation back to the point.
"Logan, let's make a deal," Kurogai offered. "I'll tell you about your past, but in exchange, I need your blood."
Logan's expression darkened. "No deal."
He knew enough about shady types experimenting on mutants to recognize a bad idea when he heard one. Even if Kurogai didn't seem like a typical lab coat, the offer made his instincts scream.
"I figured as much," Kurogai sighed. "Then I guess I'll just have to take it by force."
His eyes glinted ominously. The purple-gold hue of his heterochromatic irises brightened, and the distinctive Geass symbol shimmered into view.
"You can't move until I say so," Kurogai intoned.
Logan's body stiffened, the red glow of compulsion flickering in his eyes as the Geass took hold.
Kurogai stepped forward, pulling a small knife from his coat.
"I'll make this quick."
Without hesitation, he made a shallow cut on Logan's chest. Blood welled up instantly, flowing into Kurogai's waiting palm before vanishing into the Ultimate Eye.
The artifact pulsed in response, though the effect was minor. It wasn't enough yet.
Kurogai frowned. With Logan's rapid healing, one drop at a time wasn't going to cut it. He needed to speed this up.
A small magic circle flared to life around Kurogai's fingertip, merging into the blade. This time, when the knife bit into Logan's flesh, the enchanted edge prevented the wound from sealing instantly.
Blood flowed more steadily.
"Your healing is impressive," Kurogai muttered, watching the blood collect.
After a few moments, the Ultimate Eye emitted another pulse, accompanied by a message:
『Do you want to activate the third eye ring?』
