MARVEL: NEXUS ONE

Chapter 4: CHAPTER 4

Then the alphabet symbol appeared and a pleasant male baritone voice pronounced its sound. After that they turned and walked out, leaving me alone.

A test of intelligence? Will I be able to figure out the remote control and learn the language? Funny. But I agree, it is impossible to communicate without knowing the language. Leaning back on the bed, I lazily listened to the pronunciation of the alphabet. Why is this language and these two so elusively familiar to me? Have I ended up in a world I have already been to? Damn! He probably didn't attack, he just wanted to talk mentally. There is no language barrier in the mind.

Hmm... That's awkward. Even without Neri, my defense is almost absolute. My mind can't be read, I can't be contacted, many types of hypnosis and trance won't work on me, but any defense can be broken or pushed through. Such interference, however, would then kill me with almost 100% probability. At one time, I carefully approached the defense of my mind even with the complete loss of all strength and abilities.

But why does everything here seem so familiar to me?

While I was struggling with these questions, the recording of the training video ended and a new message appeared on the screen:

" English. Lesson two. "

English. Lesson two. I translated automatically, without even thinking about my actions. Damn! Really? That can't be! Am I returned to my homeland? Am I returned to Earth? Stop. My first conscious life is over. I died, and my soul was called to another world, where I had already gone through a long path of formation and development. And in my homeland there were no magicians or mutants! What did he say? "Charles Xavier, Ororo Monroe? And mutants too... I ended up in MARVEL???

Holy shit!!! With difficulty keeping my emotions in check, I sat there, clenching and unclenching my fists, trying to calm down. Did I have to get myself into such a mess?! I always get into all sorts of dubious scrapes and troubles. In my home world, Marvel was a series of comics and movies where some really crazy, mind-blowing shit happened.

What else can you expect from a Universe where the level of NEH** exceeds all reasonable limits?! Although... "Worm" will be scarier, but all the mutants there are less imbalanced. Marvel's mutants' shortcomings and problems are more psychological, and McCray's shortcomings are in the use of powers and their vulnerabilities. However, there is enough NEH in both places, and where I would not like to end up is in "Worm". Although it would be tempting to fight Zion. Or the Endbringers. The level of middle or elder gods. Everything is solvable.

Against the backdrop of global crises and the reshaping of worlds every week, Marvel looks even more preferable, although the number of mutants and entities invented under the auspices of "And mine will be more powerful!!!" exceeds all conceivable and inconceivable limits. Every second one controls space, every first one - time, every third one - all types of energy. It is enough to remember "The Punisher destroys the Marvel Universe" to understand how much the strength and abilities of the characters of this Universe depend on the will of the screenwriter.

Why am I upset? I am far from being an ordinary person, who would be killed on the spot if I got into this Universe. Or, considering the number of battles and permanent ends of the world, within a couple of years... And I will become a pretty good NEH. Strength, speed, power, variety of powers, techniques and energies, immortality and experience of several millennia in the field of destroying my own kind and other creatures. Mutants, magicians, warriors, martial arts masters, priests, Avatars and weak gods, local spirits and entities, animals. Opponents invulnerable to physical and energy attacks or possessing incredible adaptation or regeneration. I have seen a lot of them in my time. Another reason to quickly get back in shape, because everything described is not for my current state.

What Universe did I end up in? A movie, cartoon, or comic book Universe? Here, from Universe to Universe, both the abilities and capabilities of the characters, and the plot of the entire narrative, change. Often, scriptwriters create new versions of Universes just to draw an idea that came to their mind. From world to world, even some villains and heroes change both the side of the conflict, and their gender, nation, or orientation. Sometimes all at once.

What do we have as a bottom line? Overall, I'm in a pretty good spot. Perhaps the X-Men are one of the few groups that have little connection to the government. Perhaps only the Fantastic Four will be more independent. In addition, there are many hints and reservations in TV series, films and cartoons that not everything is so simple with Xavier. A tycoon, a millionaire, a politician. A wealthy mutant who supports not only himself, but also a large institute full of young mutants with constant breakdowns, expenses and costs for their maintenance. Feeding them at his own expense, he naturally chooses who to help. It is impossible to help everyone, but having a capable mutant on the balance sheet is always pleasant and useful. Sometimes even profitable.

On the other hand, there is non-interference in the company's anti-PR, an equipped base that exceeds the technological level of humanity, helicopters and fighters. All of a sudden, we get a bored philanthropist with a trained, equipped and educated squad of super-soldiers who carry out government missions: to settle a military conflict, to provide a service to the army by destroying a mutant, to neutralize dangerous villains. The X-Men team is not shy about being involved in a variety of showdowns and problems, and against this background, the information support is simply disgusting. Government-approved mutant persecution, the development of Guardians, many laboratories and organizations that experiment on mutants. The same Weapon X is simply the most widespread.

Against this background, the values and goals that Xavier promotes do not look very good. There are too many contradictions in the actions and deeds of the most powerful telepath on Earth to immediately exclude him as a government creature who obeys his leaders in everything.

It's not any easier with other groups. The Four are probably the most independent of all the teams. Supposedly the poorest, but with a plane of their own design, a high-tech laboratory, a huge rented building. Which they often don't have the money to rent. A genius inventor and author of many innovations, improvements and breakthroughs in various parts of science? It happens in life, but for this to happen, all the heads of all companies must be blind idiots who do not see the benefit of Richards' inventions. But Reed himself might not want to sell the patents. Many scientific geniuses became villains because of money and the setup of competitors: Octopus, Dynamo, Shocker, Vulture, Lizard, Smart Guy, Ivanko, Spot. Most of them are opponents of Parker, one of the poor geniuses of the Marvel world, but the most popular, perhaps. The Four themselves have enough of their own enemies, who are also geniuses and telepaths through and through. The official and main enemy is Victor von Doom. RULER!!! Of another country. And American citizens are doing this at the risk of unleashing an official war. It is hard for me to imagine that they are doing this without sanctions or approval, if not from the government, then from SHIELD. A war between America and Latveria sounds ridiculous. The weight classes are too different. But Latveria was also considered a superpower quite deservedly and justifiably. More because of the efforts of Doom himself, but nevertheless. But seriously? " America is unleashing a war with another country because of four people and the chaos they create! " However, the situation with foreign heroes and villains in Marvel has always been controversial.
