Chapter 105: CHAPTER 105
Just as the master's subordinates finished speaking, they suddenly saw the burned, scorching-hot vines come to life like snakes, striking toward them.
One by one, the vines stretched out and tightly bound all of the master's subordinates.
At first, it seemed like mere physical restraint, but these vines had been exposed to a high-temperature flamethrower for a prolonged period, making their surface unbearably hot—heated to several thousand degrees.
Even though the master's subordinates were clad in high-tech battle suits, some could not withstand the constant, searing heat radiating from the vines.
In an instant, they were roasted alive, their skin splitting apart as white smoke curled into the air, accompanied by the sickening scent of burnt flesh.
Not a single one of the master's reinforcements was spared.
With the path now cleared, the Guardians of the Galaxy and their allies stormed into the next level, effortlessly toppling the masters guarding that floor. Star-Lord and Rocket Raccoon spearheaded the assault.
Groot, utilizing his unique abilities, drove his vines deep into the thick alloy plating of the ground. Using the immense tension from his plant-based physiology, he tore the heavy alloy apart, creating an opening to the next level.
Star-Lord and Rocket Raccoon treated the mission like a game, systematically eliminating the master's subordinates one floor at a time.
The master's men tried to fortify their positions, sealing off all known passageways to trap intruders. Anyone who attempted to enter through conventional means would be instantly gunned down.
However, they never anticipated that the Guardians of the Galaxy would take an entirely different approach—they didn't even bother with the existing paths.
With Groot's help, they burrowed through the structure like gophers, breaking through the floors one by one and dropping down unexpectedly.
The master's subordinates, caught completely off guard, had no time to react as the Guardians of the Galaxy descended from above.
Rocket Raccoon was the first to leap through the opening that Groot had made.
Even the automatic-targeting laser weapons wielded by the master's men were useless against Rocket's rapid movements. He darted through the passage with ease, evading every shot and quickly taking down his enemies.
After neutralizing the dozens of opponents on the fourth floor, Rocket Raccoon glanced at the time.
"Hmm, 0.25 seconds faster. Not bad. Let's keep up the momentum for the next level."
Star-Lord scowled. Rocket Raccoon, now enhanced by a parasite, had become even faster.
Before Star-Lord could even raise his gun to take down a few of the master's men, Rocket Raccoon had already wiped them all out.
It was starting to feel unfair.
Meanwhile, Rocket Raccoon analyzed the data provided by Groot. A 3D projection of the underground base in the Saka Arena flickered into view.
Rocket Raccoon pointed at the floor beneath them.
"If my calculations are right, Groot, break through here. We should land right in front of the door to that big dumb room."
Star-Lord's eyes lit up.
"Perfect! Then we can finally rescue this guy."
With a thunderous crash, the three Guardians of the Galaxy dropped from above and hit the ground of the fifth floor.
The master's subordinates stationed there were dumbfounded.
They never expected the intruders to appear this way.
The truth was hard to process.
Star-Lord smirked.
"Why so serious? Come on, relax. Smile a little."
With that, he tossed what looked like a grenade.
Before the master's subordinates could react, the grenade detonated.
It wasn't a typical explosion.
Instead, the space-warping grenade unleashed a powerful gravitational pull, dragging all of the master's men—and their weapons—into a massive, three-to-four-meter-wide sphere of entangled bodies and machinery.
Tangled together, they were completely immobilized.
Star-Lord clapped his hands.
"All wrapped up. Time to save our guy."
He and Rocket Raccoon turned toward the massive steel door.
Rocket Raccoon prepared to use his advanced tech to bypass the door's security.
But Groot shook his head and stepped forward.
"Groot."
Rocket Raccoon blinked in surprise.
"You wanna do it?"
Groot nodded firmly.
Positioning himself in front of the towering alloy door, Groot dug his fingers deep into its edges.
With a mighty pull, the tree-like being exerted his full strength.
With a deafening roar of metal being wrenched apart, Groot effortlessly tore the multi-ton alloy door from its frame.
Rocket Raccoon nodded.
"Okay, this time it's you."
Only then did Drax the Destroyer notice movement in the thick steel-walled room.
His gaze shifted to the door—only to realize it had been forcefully knocked down. Drax was taken aback. He looked toward the entrance, and to his surprise, he saw several very familiar figures.
Rocket Raccoon's eyes darkened when he spotted Drax lounging on a comfortable bed, casually eating. His anger flared.
"I knew it! This idiot is living the high life—eating gourmet food, drinking like a king—while we risked everything, including the danger of '05,' to save his sorry hide."
Since Drax had demonstrated overwhelming combat power and won every previous battle, his treatment had significantly improved.
Drax turned to see Star-Lord and Rocket Raccoon standing in the doorway. At that moment, Groot's large head also peeked inside.
"Groot," Drax murmured. "Why are you here?"
Star-Lord smirked. "What do you think? We came to bust you out. You don't really plan to stay here forever, do you? Are you actually willing to be the Grandmaster's cash cow?"
Drax lowered his head, guilt washing over him.
"I… I betrayed you all. Do I even deserve to come back? I just wanted to become stronger… to get my revenge against the Kree Empire." His voice faltered. "I never meant to take anything from you..."
Star-Lord shook his head. "Come on, man. It's just a parasite—nothing worth a fortune. You're still one of us. You'll always be a Guardian of the Galaxy. I'm not about to sit back and watch you get controlled like some puppet."
He flashed his trademark cocky grin.
Drax wasn't good with words, but his expression grew complicated. "I'm… sorry."
Rocket Raccoon huffed. "Hmph! Well, at least you finally said something human. We went through hell to save you, you know."
Without wasting time, Rocket whipped out his miniature computer and hacked into the collar system restraining Drax. With a sharp snap, the life-threatening collar unclasped and fell to the ground.
Drax crushed it under his boot, his expression darkening. "They chained me up like a dog… they'll pay for this."
The mere thought of the Grandmaster restricting his freedom filled him with fury.
Star-Lord clapped a hand on his shoulder. "Dude, let's burn this place down."
Drax met his gaze and nodded. "Good."
Star-Lord grinned and clasped Drax's hand. "Alright, first things first—let's get the hell out of here."
Rocket walked over to the room's security panel, plugging in his microcomputer. He furrowed his brows as he worked, rapidly typing.
Star-Lord shot him a wary glance. "Rocket, what are you doing? We need to leave now before they cut off our escape."
Rocket smirked. "Relax. Before we go, I'm leaving the Grandmaster a little parting gift."
Star-Lord raised an eyebrow. "What kind of gift?"
Rocket didn't bother answering. Instead, he completed his hack, and suddenly, the underground base's alarm-locked doors clicked open, one by one. Even the cells holding gladiator fighters and parasites unlatched.
Rocket cackled.
Through the prison's intercom, his voice rang out. "Alright, my fellow parasites, here's your shot at payback! Time to raise some hell!"
For a moment, the imprisoned gladiators and parasites hesitated, confused by the sudden turn of events. But as murmurs spread among them, realization set in.
They had been enslaved, beaten, humiliated—by the Grandmaster and his lackeys.
Now, revenge was within reach.
With a collective roar, the prisoners surged out of their cells, stampeding through the underground base. Some simply wanted to escape, but others—those who had suffered the most—craved vengeance.
The Grandmaster's guards scrambled to contain the riot, wielding high-frequency sonic weapons and lethal suppression guns. But with the sheer number of rebels flooding the corridors, chaos erupted.
The uprising had begun.
