Chapter 45: "Embarrassed Retreat."

"Yeah, that's right—it's me!"
Facing Odin's proud gaze that seemed to see through everything, Peter didn't flinch or hesitate in the slightest as he answered.
"Figures. Beat the kid, and the old man shows up."
"Too bad... for most protagonists in other stories, this would be a life-or-death situation."
"But for me? Worst case, I'll just take down the old man too."
Looking at Odin—majestic and overwhelming, yet still showing the unmistakable signs of old age—Peter felt no fear. In fact, he was even kind of itching to fight him.
"But hey, I was doing him a favor. Otherwise, he'd just keep thinking he's the God of Hammers and forget what his bloodline really is."
Peter wasn't making excuses. Even though it looked like he had totally dominated the fight just now...
He had noticed something about this universe's Thor—his potential seemed even greater than the Thor from the main movie universe.
In his rage and anger, this Thor had already started subconsciously tapping into his thunder powers from within.
But maybe because he relied too much on his hammer, he'd forgotten that he himself was the true God of Thunder—not the God of Hammers who needed a tool to channel his power.
"God of Hammers, huh…"
Hearing Peter's words, Odin turned to look at Thor behind him, his expression heavy, clearly deep in thought.
Truth be told, Odin had always known Thor had incredible potential—maybe even greater than his own.
And that was exactly why he was afraid. Afraid that, in his twilight years, instead of raising a worthy king, he might've just created another Hela...
"But regardless… Mjolnir still belongs to Asgard."
Pushing aside those troubling thoughts for now, Odin looked back up at Peter floating in the sky. His single eye gleamed sharply, as if trying to see right through him.
He was used to others looking up at him. Now, having to look up at someone else—it made Odin feel a bit uncomfortable.
So in the next second, without any visible movement, his body rose into the sky as if lifted by some invisible force, stopping level with Peter.
"So what now? It's already smashed. You're not seriously gonna ask me to pay for it, are you?"
Facing Odin—the so-called ruler of the Nine Realms—Peter spoke like he was just chatting with an old man on the street.
Down on the ground, Captain America gripped his shield and let out a helpless sigh.
Looking at Nick Fury's tense expression next to him, all Steve could think was, "With the world changing this much, what was even the point of waking me up?"
"Yeah… it's shattered alright…"
Odin stared at the broken pieces of Mjolnir scattered on the ground, lost in thought.
As Thor's father, he couldn't just go all out—it'd look like bullying someone younger.
But as the king of Asgard, he had to restore his realm's honor.
"Stop hesitating. How about we just fight it out already?" Peter suddenly said, challenging Odin head-on. "I've been meaning to see for myself—do you, in your old age, still deserve the title of Ruler of the Nine Realms?"
"You… human… are you challenging me?"
Hearing Peter's straight-up provocation, Odin could no longer maintain his lofty, calm facade.
He struck his spear—the Eternal Spear—into the air. Its golden tip gleamed sharply as it pointed at Peter.
The next moment, an invisible wave of terrifying pressure blasted outward in all directions.
Ordinary people on the ground could barely handle the overwhelming force—they felt like dropping to their knees on the spot.
Peter, directly locked onto by Odin's divine aura, felt that same sharp, oppressive pressure. His face stayed calm, but his eyes grew noticeably serious.
"As expected of the All-Father, Odin. He's so much stronger than Thor... Shame he's just way too old now."
Still, Peter didn't back down one inch. He stared Odin down, scarlet energy swirling and building in his eyes.
"Hmph!"
Odin was surprised—Peter didn't even flinch from the pressure he released. But that only made him angrier.
With a cold snort—quiet, but somehow echoing across all of New York—he shook the entire city. Nearly everyone was momentarily dazed just from hearing it.
High above the city, Odin's power whipped the clouds into a frenzy. A massive storm eye formed overhead, pressing down like the end of the world, shrouding all of New York in a looming doomsday-like scene.
But in the very next moment, a golden light shot up from the ground and pierced through the clouds.
And just like that, Odin's apocalyptic display of divine power was completely dispersed.
"Huh? You're going to interfere…"
Odin instantly turned his gaze in one direction—as if he could see someone standing far off through space itself.
"Ah!"
But before he could process it, his gaze snapped back to Peter—whose eyes now glowed with such condensed scarlet energy, even Odin felt a chill.
Odin's expression shifted dramatically as he hurried to raise the Eternal Spear in front of him, rushing to pour his vast divine power into it.
BOOM!
A massive blast of scarlet and gold collided with explosive force.
The resulting shockwave tore through the sky, shaking the void itself—far more violent and earth-shattering than Peter's earlier fight with Thor.
Just like a blazing star suddenly exploding above New York, a terrifying energy storm erupted, spreading outwards at a speed visible to the naked eye.
Anything that came into contact with that overwhelming force was instantly obliterated—even the air itself couldn't escape destruction.
On the ground, countless people stared helplessly at the blinding energy in the sky. Their instincts told them to run, but their legs wouldn't move. All they could feel was a crushing sense of powerlessness.
They could only watch as that unstoppable wave of destruction surged straight toward them.
"If I could choose… I'd rather just go back to sleep," Captain America muttered, raising his shield—then slowly lowering it…
CRACK!
Suddenly, the sharp sound of glass shattering rang out, echoing in everyone's ears.
In the next moment, to everyone's shock, the raging energy—strong enough to wipe out all of New York—along with the two figures clashing in the sky, vanished without a trace.
CRACK!
But it only lasted a blink.
The very space in front of them shattered like a broken mirror.
A battered figure came tumbling out of the broken void, diving straight toward the ground—Thor. Two beams of blazing scarlet light chased right after him.
"Father… you—?!"
Thor's eyes widened in disbelief as he saw Odin blocking the scarlet beams with the Eternal Spear.
"Heimdall!"
Odin grabbed Thor with one hand and shouted toward the void.
The next instant, the Bifrost crashed down from the sky, engulfing Odin and Thor in its beam of light.
As the glow of the Bifrost rapidly began to fade—
Peter burst out of the shattered void, his eyes still blazing with red energy, and without hesitation, the searing beams shifted course, aiming directly at the vanishing bridge of light.
But it was too late.
Odin and Thor, along with the red energy blast Peter had just fired, completely disappeared inside the Bifrost.
It took several seconds for Peter's full-power heat vision to finally wind down. His eyes still glowing with that eerie, blood-red light, he stared into the empty air and muttered coldly:
"Tch… ran pretty fast, huh."
"….."
