Chapter - 1: New Spider-Man

----------

[Marvel Universe]

[New York]

I wake up with a start, my eyes flying open to reveal a world completely unknown to me. The cold surface beneath me sends a shiver down my spine as I struggle to sit up, only to discover that it's impossible from my current position.

The wind whistles between the buildings, and the distant hum of city life surrounds me. A quick glance around only deepens my confusion. I'm hanging upside down, suspended in the air in front of a window.

I don't know how I got here, nor how much time has passed. I look through the glass and see the city below me, the moonlight filtering through the glass, creating ethereal reflections in the night.

I have absolutely no idea where I am...

Where am I?

As I try to piece together the puzzle of my existence, a wave of disorientation overwhelms me. Fleeting flashes of memories, fragmented and unclear, cross my mind. I remember that at 17, I was attending Midtown High School, my parents had died in an accident when I was very young, and I was living with my aunt and uncle in a small house.

I did very well in school, with excellent results in various subjects. Foreign languages and humanities came particularly easily to me, but even the sciences were not far behind: everything came naturally to me.

However, this academic success led me to drift away from other kids my age. I felt different from them, and this distance resulted in some isolation that led to tough times.

Some of my peers started targeting me, often with teasing and small acts of bullying, making my school experience a bit difficult to bear.

But… it's not all.

The details are confusing. Faces of friends and family blend together, and I can't grasp any concrete connection. But I know I've lived before. It's as if my past life is shrouded in fog, details slipping away like water through my fingers.

I remember… a family? A job at Dr. Connors' lab? Or maybe at the Daily Bugle? An intern at the Baxter Building?

The details are vague, lacking the specific clarity that frustrates me given my current situation.

Frowning, I fixate on my hands, trying to ground myself in the present. The name "Peter Richard Parker" echoes in my mind, but it feels foreign, as if I'm borrowing someone else's identity. My past, my true self, remains elusive, leaving me as a tabula rasa, adrift and purposeless.

"I can't... it can't be..."

I have a sense of what's happening; after all, I've read similar stories, and if I weren't having a bad panic attack, I'd probably laugh at the absurdity of the situation I'm in right now.

The urban landscape stretches before me, and the name "Stark Tower" on a distant skyscraper catches my eye. As I look around, confusion gives way to realization, and I understand exactly where I am.

New York City. Queens… Marvel.

The city, or rather New York as a whole, is a breeding ground for chaos, where various gangs vie for control, criminals with superpowers attack the city at will, causing destruction and death, and the infamous Brotherhood of Evil Mutants (among other Omega-class threats) roam with near-total impunity, killing ordinary people.

A sense of dread settles in my chest as I contemplate the world I now find myself in. The gangs, with their violent power struggles, represent a real threat to me.

I still wonder why I was transferred along with my mind or soul into this feared Marvel universe... A world of extreme dangers and equally exaggerated powers that make me feel small in the grand scheme of things.

Even some of the more outlandish characters could kill me. What could I do against a hypothetical Doctor Doom knocking at my door?

My eyes dart frantically across the rooftop, as if expecting a threat to materialize out of nowhere. Suddenly… until I see my reflection in the glossy glass of a building across from me.

I slowly approach the window, and my reflection becomes clearer as I move. With each step, I notice something is different. My attention shifts to my suit, now almost invisible against the glass. At first, I can't understand what I'm seeing, but then I notice the details of the glossy black enveloping me.

My heart races as my hands gently move over the suit. I can't tear my gaze away from my reflection, observing the sleek lines and dark color covering every inch of my body. It's strange, almost unsettling.

What the hell..."

My hands continue to explore the different texture of the fabric. The black is so deep, so overwhelming. Every time I touch it, my body fills with a growing sense of discomfort.

I don't recognize this costume even from my new memories, and the awareness of how much is changing makes me feel vulnerable. I sense something different. My body is enveloped in something new, a feeling I've never experienced before.

A costume... Black.

"Symbiote Spider-Man?"

I look at it for a moment, the reflection of my figure in the glass showing an image I don't entirely recognize. The white symbol on my chest shines in stark contrast to the darkness surrounding me.

I move slightly, and the costume adjusts to every movement, as if it were a part of me, as if it were... alive. This makes me shiver, trying to resist the urge to tear this suit off, not wanting any violent reaction from it.

And there's a strange power flowing through me, a power I hadn't even experienced from my newly acquired memories, filling me with a mix of sensations that made me feel amazing.

I feel stronger, faster, more... free.

I let go of the web, landing gracefully on the ledge. With just a thought, my face becomes visible, as the costume retracts at my command, at least for now...

I'm not me... Not the me from my old life, anyway. I had an athletic build, more suited to a sprinter than anything else, with incredibly short sweet brown hair.

Honestly, if I had a more defined jawline, I'd almost look exactly like Joseph Joestar from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, which I don't mind at all if I'm being completely honest, since he was my absolute favorite.

I can't remember my family, but I do recall having seen that show? This doesn't even make sense...

Especially since I have no memories of my past life. I only know what most Marvel-obsessed people know, from comics, old cartoons, and as a pop culture enthusiast.

The reflection reveals a face that doesn't match the vague memories I have. It was clearly Peter Parker, the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man from Marvel, which honestly I didn't like at all.

A nervous laugh escapes my lips as I examine my transformed appearance. The absurdity of the situation hits me full force, and the initial fear is quickly replaced by amusement.

I can't hold it in and burst into laughter.

A loud, hearty laugh echoes across the empty skyline. I remember everything now. My death before, the awakening in that twisted place, a woman who was frighteningly beautiful and pale with two black horns on her head offering me a deal I couldn't refuse in any way.

I still feel the horrible pain of the mark forming on my back. "Be interesting," she had said, Atlach-Nacha, or at least that's how she introduced herself to me.

This transformation was supposed to come with abilities, and now, considering the body I'm in, it's clear what they are. The ridiculous talents of Peter. At his peak, he was able to stand toe-to-toe with X-Men powered by the Phoenix Force, which honestly says it all about his strength.

Yes, this world seems a little less terrifying now. But knowing well all the challenges Spider-Man regularly faced, which were far beyond his strength, my thoughts quickly shifted.

For better or for worse, we have to thank some cosmic entity for this situation, or perhaps, as always, it's just the Web of Life and Destiny doing its usual work...

Continuing to bring misfortune across various worlds, the Web of Life and Destiny connects people, offering them numerous benefits. However, due to the resonance effect, everyone connected to the Web of Life leads terrible existences.

To explain further, this Web of Life is responsible for the fates of all the Peter Parkers across different dimensions. All the horror that befalls them, from friends who betray them to girlfriends who break their hearts by dying, to clones and the belief of being replaced, and much more...

I can't help but think that the Web of Life and Destiny are the modern Marvel writers who make Peter Parker more unhappy and make him disliked by other Marvel heroes because of their bad humor.

First things first, though, I need to find a way to get off this roof, but instinctively I knew it would be much easier than I could have imagined, which gave me a good amount of confidence.

I looked down at the street below. The city was completely illuminated by a thousand lights, like a kind of glowing sphere that attracted me, so I decided to trust my new powers.

In that moment, I pushed off from the edge of the wall and fell, as if I were playing Assassin's Creed and making a leap of faith. I felt the wind carrying me as I firmly gripped the web, swinging like a pendulum through the alley towards the open street.

"Wow... this is crazy!" I exclaimed with a grin and dashed forward. I leaped off the rooftop and shot out a web. Swinging between the streets, I tried to get used to everything, and at one point, with an acrobatic flip, I landed perfectly.

I blinked in amazement, looking at my hands and then at the street below where I had just jumped. My stomach fluttered slightly, but it was the first time I had done something like this.

So it was entirely expected; I just needed to get used to it faster while swinging over all of New York and landing on the roof of the building across the street. I slowly detached from the wall and clung to the web, swinging like a pendulum through the alley towards the open street.

"Awesome!" I couldn't help but shout as, for the first time since I had woken up, I felt great and completely in tune with my new spider abilities.

When I saw that I finally had enough control over my webs, I decided to take a tour of the city. This way, I could get a bit familiar with the surrounding environment before thinking about more complicated matters.
