Chapter 26: 026 Surprise! Cassandra Appears!
Russell was in a great mood.
Even though the newly integrated entry was only purple-tier, his combat power had significantly improved!
And with this experience, the strength of Cassandra's faction would definitely reach an entirely new level the next time they fought!
It might even be possible to take her on directly...
"Tsk tsk, you really did kill them all."
Suddenly, a woman's voice—full of amusement and curiosity—rang through the air.
Russell's scalp tingled. His Spider-Sense flared violently!
He looked up, scanning the surroundings, but saw nothing.
Johnny Storm, the Human Torch, seemed to realize something. With a panicked cry, he betrayed his "good bro" without hesitation and bolted toward the black market.
But the moment he took a step—bam—he hit the ground hard.
Then, he was lifted upside down into the air by an invisible force.
Russell's pupils shrank—he already had a good guess who this was.
Just when he thought Cassandra wouldn't return… that crazy woman showed up!
No—maybe she had been here the whole time!
Russell's body temperature surged as he shifted into a defensive stance.
At the same time, he activated his Spider-Sense to locate her.
But all he could feel was hostility everywhere—danger from all directions.
That was when the woman's voice came again.
"Your combat ability is clearly different from what that Paradox guy described."
"He said you only had the power of Extremis. But now, you not only have Spider-Man's powers—you can also use magic."
"So... was he lying?"
"Or..."
"What secrets are you hiding?"
The voice still echoed all around, but the last sentence suddenly came from directly behind Russell!
"Come, let me read your memory."
Cassandra had appeared behind him in an instant, her five fingers reaching for his head!
Her psychic power was incredibly strong—on par with Professor X.
But to extract memories, physical contact was necessary!
Russell tried to dodge—but realized he couldn't move.
A terrifying invisible force had completely locked his body in place.
He couldn't even move a finger!
Hanging upside down, the Human Torch noticed this and suddenly looked devastated.
This woman was too strong.
Russell had killed five powerful mutants in a row, but against her, he was completely helpless.
Was he really going to lose his dignity today?
He could only hope the rumors he'd heard about her weren't true...
But while Johnny had already given up hope, Russell hadn't.
He didn't expect his high-temperature body to stop Cassandra. He remembered that in the movies, her regenerative power under psychic enhancement was absurd.
He had to try something else!
[Magic Pulse (White)]
[Furnace Overload!]
At this moment, Russell didn't care about whether overusing this trump card would exhaust him—even with his self-healing factor.
All he knew was this:
Cassandra didn't show up because of the sea monster.
She came because the TVA was after him!
He wasn't going to let her do to him what she did in Deadpool 3.
Survival was all that mattered!
With that thought, Russell prepared to fight with everything he had—
BOOM!
Suddenly, a bell rang—and sunlight burst through the sky!
Russell instantly felt his body regain mobility. Without hesitation, he jumped away from the spot.
Then he quickly used the Sling Ring to open a portal and escape!
He didn't care that using spatial magic might attract Elrios.
Staying alive came first.
However, the next second, he realized—
The space around him had been locked!
The portal he opened vanished with only a flicker of golden sparks.
Without hesitation, Russell turned back and summoned the Holy Sword of the Vishanti!
At that moment, Cassandra's angry voice echoed through the air:
"Khonshu!"
"This is outside the black market! Are you sure you want to stop me?!"
Khonshu?
The Moon God?
Russell's pupils narrowed as he followed Cassandra's gaze.
Floating in the air stood a figure wrapped in golden bandages, with a falcon's head and a humanoid body, holding a glowing scepter.
Golden sunlight radiated from the tip of the staff.
Russell blinked—this didn't quite match the Khonshu he remembered.
Aside from the bird head, this figure resembled the Sun God more than the Moon God.
Just then, a voice filled with ancient wisdom echoed from the sky:
"Cassandra, you're still as reckless as ever."
"Your psychic power is strong, yes—but your mind is fragile, and you lack faith."
"If you continue like this... you'll destroy yourself."
Cassandra's face twisted in rage.
"Shut up!"
"Tell me plainly—do you really want to fight me today?!"
Khonshu descended slowly, his scepter touching the ground. With a burst of light, a golden sun seal spread across the earth.
His voice thundered:
"You forget the rules, Ms. Nova."
Cassandra's expression turned ice-cold.
"Rules? This is the Void! I've had enough of your sanctimonious talk!"
Suddenly, she clapped her hands together—and the very air seemed to compress into solid force, collapsing toward Khonshu at the center!
But just then, the sun seal lit up—and the air around it began to burn!
Even breathing became impossible!
Cassandra's body caught fire as well.
Yet she didn't scream.
Instead, she raised both arms—and the ground beneath them began to quake violently!
A massive golem, nearly 100 meters tall and made entirely of sand and stone, burst from the earth.
It crushed the sun seal beneath its feet and lunged toward Khonshu!
And that wasn't all.
Cassandra simultaneously layered her telekinetic powers to pin Khonshu down—preventing him from using his scepter!
Far away, Russell hadn't escaped.
Instead, he began preparing a spell—without hesitation.
His hands spun in rapid motion as he constructed a magic circle.
Suddenly, the sky ignited.
A flaming holy sword, dozens of meters long, shot down from the heavens, slamming into the giant and shattering everything above its chest!
Cassandra only smirked.
"Fool. That's just a puppet I control with telekinesis—it has no life force."
"You're wasting your energy."
"Heh… let's see how brave you are in a minute!"
She grinned wickedly, ready to gloat—
But the next second, a flaming sword materialized above her head!
Russell grinned.
"Thanks for the tip."
BOOM!
The flaming blade descended like divine judgment!
Cassandra's face darkened.
Instantly, the massive puppet crumbled—and a translucent psychic barrier flared to life above her!
The flaming sword shattered against it, unable to pierce the shield.
At that exact moment—
Russell muttered, "Bang."
He hadn't expected the sword to land a blow.
It was just a diversion.
A split second after releasing the spell, he raised his hand like a pistol—aiming at Cassandra.
Then, as the holy sword clashed with her shield, he activated Blood Burn!
A miniature blood arrow—glowing like molten lava—fired from his fingertip with sniper-level speed.
It struck Cassandra squarely in the head—piercing clean through.
Thud.
Her eyes dimmed, and she collapsed to the ground.
Motionless.
Did he win?
Russell stared at the body.
It all seemed too simple.
But he knew—if Cassandra hadn't been distracted by Khonshu, and if he hadn't seized that split-second opening—he never would've succeeded.
One second... two seconds... three seconds passed.
But the system still didn't give any [Plunder Successful] notification.
Then, the ancient voice returned.
"Don't bother. She's not dead."
"Her consciousness has escaped."
