Marvel : Strongest Siblings

Chapter 288: Marvel 288

A golden beam of energy exploded from his claws, racing toward Lan Xue like a cannon blast. She reacted instantly.

"Thunder Step!" Her second spirit ring flared.

Lan Xue vanished in a flash of bluish lightning, reappearing far to the side just as the Light Wave scorched across the battlefield, exploding against the stone floor and sending debris flying.

Dai Mubai turned sharply, already anticipating her dodge.

"White Tiger Vajra Transformation!" His third spirit ring glowed.

His aura changed. His entire body became more fearsome—his fur gleamed like metal, his claws sharpened, and his Spirit Power surged higher. His defense and attack both spiked, entering a state few Spirit Elders could match.

He lunged again, impossibly fast for his size.

Lan Xue's third ring lit up.

"Celestial Storm Cage!"

Once again, the ring of lightning erupted around her, twelve arcs forming a web of electricity. But this time, Dai Mubai didn't charge blindly.

"Break it," he growled.

Instead of barreling through the lightning arcs, he slammed both fists into the ground, causing a localized shockwave that disrupted the formation just enough to create an opening. With a roar, he forced himself through the gap and launched a slash aimed straight at Lan Xue's torso.

CLANG!

Lightning met tiger claw.

Lan Xue raised her arm, the electric aura around it acting like a shield. Still, the impact knocked her back several steps, her boots skidding across the stone.

The crowd roared in excitement.

"She blocked it?!"

"But she's clearly on the backfoot now…"

Mu Qing narrowed her eyes from the sidelines. "He's good. Stronger than the last one."

Max remained quiet, watching Lan Xue carefully. She wasn't overwhelmed, but she had shifted into a more reactive stance. That meant she was waiting.

As Dai Mubai charged again, claws ready to strike, Lan Xue's first and second rings activated simultaneously.

"Lightning Pulse — Overdrive Mode!"

This time, the lightning didn't arc once—it surged around her whole body, forming a dancing field of electricity that enhanced her movements. Her speed doubled. She ducked beneath Dai Mubai's slash and zipped behind him, delivering a lightning-fast strike to his exposed side.

ZAP!

Dai Mubai grunted, muscles tightening under the paralyzing surge. But he was already spinning around with a backhand claw—Lan Xue jumped back just in time.

"Not bad," he growled, lips curling into a grin. "But I've fought faster opponents."

"Then fight smarter," Lan Xue said evenly.

She extended her arms—and from the sky above, three bolts of lightning descended.

"Celestial Storm Cage: Condense Mode."

Dai Mubai's eyes narrowed. He crossed his arms and braced as the bolts struck—but even with Vajra Transformation, the damage was piling up. Sparks danced across his body as he crouched low, preparing one final charge.

He had to end it in one hit.

"White Tiger Light Wave!"

A golden blast erupted again—but this time, he fired it directly at the ground between them, using the explosion as cover. Through the smoke and flying debris, he dashed in, claws raised.

Lan Xue's eyes flickered. Her third spirit ring shone again.

"Celestial Storm Cage — Core Lock!"

As Dai Mubai emerged from the smoke, his claws inches from her, a focused lightning sphere formed in front of her chest, expanding outward like a pulse.

BOOM!

The blast hit him point-blank, sending him flying backward. He crashed to the ground, rolling several meters before slamming into the edge of the stage.

He groaned, body smoking, hands shaking.

Still, he pushed himself up to one knee. "I'm… not done yet—!"

But the referee raised a hand.

"Stop. You've taken significant damage, and your Spirit Power is running low. Continuing would risk serious injury."

Dai Mubai clenched his fists… then slowly let them fall.

"…I yield."

Cheers erupted through the arena—some in awe, some in shock.

"Barak Academy wins again! Two rounds—two victories!"

Lan Xue exhaled, her aura dimming as her Martial Spirit faded. She turned and walked back to her team calmly.

As she passed Max, he gave her a small nod.

"Well done," Max said calmly as Lan Xue returned to the team bench.

She nodded in response but then slowly shook her head when Max turned to her again.

"Do you still want to fight?"

Lan Xue exhaled. "No. That last hit pushed my core harder than I expected."

Max raised a hand toward the referee. "We forfeit this round."

The referee blinked, surprised, but nodded. "Barak Academy concedes this match."

Across the arena, Ma Hongjun had already stepped forward. Flames flickered faintly around his body, his rotund frame buzzing with heat. His eyes narrowed slightly as he watched Lan Xue step off the stage.

But the moment Max forfeited, murmurs echoed through the crowd.

"They gave up the round?"

"Is that even allowed?"

Yu Xiaogang explained quietly to Flender, "Since they won the previous round, their fighter can continue until they lose or surrender. If the team chooses to pull them out voluntarily, they forfeit the current match."

With Lan Xue stepping down voluntarily, Shrek Academy gained one victory.

Still, it didn't stop the pressure building.

Max turned to his final teammate. "You're next."

Mu Qing rose with a graceful stretch, cracking her neck as she stepped forward. Her violet-green eyes held a sharp glint, and her smile was lazy, almost amused.

She walked toward the arena, where Ma Hongjun was already waiting, his arms crossed. He grinned as she approached, though there was a slight twitch of unease in his eyes.

"Listen, beautiful," he said, voice cocky but with an edge of nervousness. "You might want to back out like the last girl. I've been told I burn real hot when I fight… wouldn't want to singe you."

Mu Qing simply tilted her head, her steps not slowing. "Oh? And I've been told I'm quite… toxic when I get serious."

Her Spirit Power surged gently, and behind her bloomed an elegant, towering ivy—long tendrils coiling like living snakes, pulsing with a faint green and violet glow. Its aura wasn't gentle—it was deadly.
