Marvel: Superpowers in the Marvel World

Chapter 50: Chapter 50

After leaving the bar, Alex walked along the street with a hopeful smile on his lips. "The Blood God of the vampire clan—let's hope he doesn't disappoint me!"

"It seems this world is about to get a lot more exciting!"

Thinking about the battles that might lie ahead, Alex felt as though his blood was boiling with excitement.

Ever since obtaining the Ghost Eye Technique and experiencing a fierce battle with Weapon Eleven, Alex's once-calm mindset had shifted to an eager anticipation for combat.

Right now, Alex's feelings mirrored those of Zaraki Kenpachi from Bleach—he longed for an opponent who could fight him to his heart's content, someone strong enough to satisfy his thirst for battle.

Peaceful days felt dull and monotonous. Only intense combat could bring him the thrill of life and the satisfaction of testing his strength.

(Author's Note: Actually, this is just the typical mindset of a middle-schooler with a newfound power, itching to show off!)

"?!"

As Alex strolled aimlessly down the street, moving at a leisurely pace of over ten meters per step, his eyes were suddenly drawn to a massive footprint embedded in the asphalt road. The footprint was deeply imprinted and pointed straight towards a distant part of the road.

Judging by the direction, the footprint seemed to have come from Manhattan, New York, and was heading toward Brooklyn, the city's most populous borough.

"Interesting!"

Intrigued, Alex licked his lips in excitement. With a slight tap of his foot, he unleashed half his speed, reaching Mach 0.5 (around 600-700 kilometers per hour), his figure flashing like lightning as he followed the trail.

Racing through the streets, Alex's phantom-like figure appeared and disappeared, startling countless couples engaged in secret rendezvous in the alleys.

It wasn't long before Alex reached Brooklyn. Following the footprints, he arrived in a residential area. The footprints led to a figure hiding timidly under a small tree, peering nervously at a room across the street.

On the balcony of that room, a middle-aged woman in a white nightgown turned and hurried out of the house.

The figure under the tree was clad in an oversized trench coat and a conspicuous, outdated hat. Through the gaps in his clothing, Alex caught a glimpse of his orange, rock-like skin. Upon closer inspection, the figure resembled nothing more than a humanoid pile of stones—a stone man.

"So, it's him? Things are about to get interesting!"

Upon seeing the stone man's appearance, Alex decided to quietly observe from a nearby station platform, waiting to see what would happen next.

A moment later, the middle-aged woman in the nightgown walked toward the stone man, calling out his name joyfully, "Ben! Ben! Where are you?"

"I'm here!"

The stone man revealed himself from his hiding spot.

"Why are you hiding here? Why didn't you come home, Ben?" The woman chuckled as she approached. However, when she saw Ben's current appearance, she screamed in horror.

"No! No! You're Ben? How did you turn into this?" She shook her head, retreating in terror as she struggled to accept the reality before her.

"Darling, don't be like this…"

Seeing the fear on his lover's face, the stone man felt a deep pain in his heart. He stepped forward, trying to stop her from leaving.

Unfortunately, his approach only made her flee faster. She even stumbled into the street, narrowly avoiding being hit by a speeding car.

"..."

The stone man stood frozen, watching her retreating figure. Her terrified expression stabbed at his heart, the pain even greater than when he first discovered his mutation.

Muttering his lover's name under his breath, the stone man wandered aimlessly, consumed by despair.

At this moment, a patrolling officer, alerted by the commotion, hurried over. Spotting the stone man's conspicuous figure, the officer shouted, "Stop right there! You, stop!"

"!"

The stone man snapped out of his daze, panic setting in. In his current form, he would surely terrify the public. Without hesitation, he bolted, leaving the diligent officer far behind.

"Pathetic love!"

Having witnessed everything, Alex shook his head as he stepped off the platform. A woman who couldn't even listen to an explanation before leaving had no right to call what they had "love."

"This stone man was married, and from what the woman said, his transformation is recent. It seems he's a genetically mutated superhuman…"

With this realization, Alex suppressed most of his speed and quickly pursued the stone man.

It didn't take long for Alex to catch up. However, he had no intention of initiating a conversation just yet. Instead, he maintained a distance, following the stone man as they wandered aimlessly through the streets.

The stone man's grief was evident in his every step. Eventually, he climbed onto a bridge spanning the river and sat down, staring into the water.

"Is he planning to jump?!"

Alex was slightly surprised. With his stone-like body, not even jumping from a higher bridge would guarantee death.

Realizing that nothing particularly interesting was going to happen, Alex casually leaped onto the bridge, landing beside the stone man. "Hey, buddy, thinking of jumping into the river?"

"What? You're not afraid of me?"

The stone man looked at Alex in astonishment. This teenager wasn't scared?

"Afraid? Why would I be?" Alex chuckled, leaning casually against the bridge railing.

"You think I'm not scary?" The stone man let out a self-deprecating laugh, shrugging his massive shoulders. "Imagine the chaos a walking pile of stones would cause if seen on the streets!"

"Buddy, you're being way too dramatic."

Alex smirked, his voice calm. "Your despair comes from ignorance. You haven't realized the true nature of this world yet."

"What do you mean?" The stone man roared, though he quickly lowered his voice, fearing he might scare away the only person willing to speak to him. "You're just a kid. What would you know about discrimination and hardship?"

"I know plenty," Alex replied nonchalantly. "In fact, I understand your pain better than you think."

"Impossible!" The stone man gestured dramatically. "You're just a high school kid. How could you possibly understand?"

Alex smirked, a mysterious glint in his eye. "Like I said, your pain stems from your ignorance of this world's true nature."

The stone man growled, clearly irritated. "Fine, then tell me—what is the so-called 'true nature' of this world?"

"Ha, looks like you're not convinced." Alex feigned surprise.

"Damn right, I'm not! If you don't explain, I'll teach you a lesson about lying, kid!" The stone man clashed his fists together, producing a thunderous crack.

"Impressive strength."

Alex's expression turned serious as he assessed the sound. "That impact must have been at least five tons. Looks like his abilities are focused on strength and durability."

Realizing this, Alex grew even more intrigued by the stone man's potential.
