Mephisto's expression darkened. "You're powerful, The ancient one, but your strength is fading. You don't have much time left." His voice turned sharp. "When you're gone, who'll stand against us?"
The ancient one didn't respond right away, instead glancing at Maverick, who was dusting himself off outside.
Mephisto sneered. "Not him. He's too young and far too inexperienced."
"Not now," The ancient one said calmly. "But one day, he'll rise to the challenge. With his resources, he must take more responsibility for this world."
Mephisto chuckled darkly. "That's rich, The ancient one. You really are something."
His body began to fade, but his parting words hung ominously in the air. "Once I deal with that ungrateful wretch of a son, I'll return. Then we'll settle this properly."
"When that day comes," The ancient one replied, "I won't be the one you'll face. I've worked long enough—it's time for me to retire."
She raised her hand, and the scepter of the Mind Stone flew into her grasp. Turning to Blackheart, she said, "Return to Hell. Reclaim your place."
Blackheart bowed deeply. "Thank you, Master Ancient one. I swear, Earth and Kamar-Taj will never see me as their enemy again."
The ancient one gestured for him to leave.
Without hesitation, Blackheart donned the Uru-forged armor and opened a portal to Hell.
But as he stepped through, his eyes flashed with venomous intent. "When I overthrow Mephisto and take the throne, I'll repay this humiliation a thousand times over."
The ancient one didn't react to the threat, watching him disappear with an air of detachment. She knew full well that Blackheart couldn't defeat Mephisto—he was simply a pawn to buy her time.
"The moment you put on that armor, your fate was sealed," she murmured.
With a wave of her hand, she vanished and reappeared in a mysterious void, where a group of uniformed figures stood trapped behind a shimmering wall.
"This isn't your timeline," The ancient one said evenly. "You're in a parallel world. Go back."
The group exchanged confused looks before their leader stepped forward. "We're here to save half the lives in the universe—"
"I know your purpose," The ancient one interrupted. "But I can't let you interfere. Any actions you take here will unleash consequences beyond your understanding. Return to where you came from, and don't come back."
One of them, a burly man, shouted, "It won't affect your world! We'll take the gem and put it back exactly where we found it. No harm done."
The ancient one's gaze was unwavering. "Are you certain? Can you truly guarantee that retrieving the gem won't cause ripple effects? Even if you could, meddling with time carries its own price."
The group tried to argue, but The ancient one raised a hand. "If you return, I will stop you myself."
With that, she waved her hand, and the group vanished.
"These temporal trespassers are a minor nuisance," The ancient one muttered, turning her attention to the chaotic void beyond. The Eye of Agamotto glowed faintly, sealing it off. She frowned. Mephisto had been right—her power was dwindling. Half her strength was tied up containing the chaos beyond the void, and it would only demand more over time.
"How long can I keep this up?" she sighed, exhaustion seeping into her voice. "Hundreds of years without so much as a paycheck. Retirement can't come soon enough."
Returning to the mirror dimension, she reached out, handing the scepter through a shimmering portal to Maverick.
Maverick hesitated, then took it reverently. "Thank you, Ancient one."
Her voice echoed in his ears. "Mephisto has been sent back to Hell. He won't return anytime soon. But Blood God, your time is running out."
Maverick frowned. Was she talking about Thanos?
Before he could ask, the portal vanished, and he was left holding the scepter. He scowled. "Why do all these mystics have to be so cryptic?"
With a shake of his head, he flew into the air, the scepter glowing in his hand. Pulling out his communicator, he called Nick Fury. "Director Fury, I need two nuclear warheads sent to Manhattan."
"What?" Fury's voice was incredulous. "Did I hear you right? Two nukes?"
"You heard me," Maverick replied. "The World Security Council wanted to launch them earlier, right? Well, now's the time. Aim them at the Chitauri mothership. If we don't take them out now, they'll just regroup and come back later."
Fury was silent for a moment, then sighed. "I'll get the Council's approval."
A minute later, he came back on the line. "The bombers are airborne. But those nukes cannot detonate over Manhattan."
"Relax," Maverick said with a smirk. "Unlike S.H.I.E.L.D., I don't botch missions."
He hurled his vibranium spear, impaling a Leviathan mid-flight before catching it again.
Tony Stark flew up beside him, fuming. "Maverick, you destroyed my building! You owe me big-time."
"Take it up with the White House," Maverick said coolly. "I've got an exemption clause."
Tony gritted his teeth. "Fine! But we're even now. No more favors."
"Deal," Maverick replied impatiently. "Now, get out of my way—I've got aliens to kill."
"You've got the scepter! Just close the portal already!" Tony snapped.
"Later," Maverick said, igniting in a burst of crimson flames as he dove back into the fray.
Back at the Council of Blood manor, Mindy was watching the battle unfold on live TV when a loud crash drew her attention. Rushing outside, she found a ragged little girl lying in the grass.
The guards surrounded the girl, weapons drawn, but Mindy held up a hand. "Wait, I'll handle this."
She crouched down. "Who are you, and why are you here?"
The girl, her face pale and smudged with dirt, looked around nervously. "I… I'm… Who am I?"
Mindy raised an eyebrow. "Amnesia? How cliché." She smirked. "Fine. From now on, your name is Hai. We'll figure out the rest later. Now, call me big sis."
The girl hesitated, then muttered, "Big sister."
Mindy beamed. "Good. Let's get you cleaned up. Butler, buy her some new clothes."
The butler looked concerned. "Miss, her origins are unknown. Perhaps we should investigate further?"
"No need," Mindy said firmly. "She's my little sister now. That's all that matters."
Meanwhile, Maverick intercepted the incoming nuclear warheads mid-flight, tying them to himself with tendrils of crimson energy. As he approached the space vortex, he absorbed the nukes into his body for safekeeping.
Within moments, the Chitauri mothership was in his sights. Energy blasts rained down, but they were no match for his speed. He tore through the defenses like a storm, reducing Leviathans and bio-soldiers to ashes as he charged forward.
Inside the command center, the Chitauri leader frantically slammed a self-destruct button, only for a psychic shockwave to hurl him across the room.
Maverick stepped into the cabin, his voice dripping with menace.
"Planning to blow up the ship? Cute. But I'm faster than you."
The leader snarled. "Thanos will crush you!"
"No," Maverick said coldly. "I'll crush him."
With the ship secured, Maverick emerged, shrinking the massive vessel with Pym particles before sealing it away. Deprived of its command, the Chitauri army collapsed, their forces falling lifelessly to the ground.
As the battlefield fell silent, Blade glanced at the carnage. "Even dead, these things cause a mess."
Spider-Man sidled up to him, pointing at Blade's sunglasses. "Uh… do those do anything, or are they just for show?"
Blade smirked. "They make me look good, kid. Cool's a full-time job. You'll get it when you grow up."
At the portal, Maverick held the Mind Stone scepter aloft. "Want a photo before I shut this thing down?"
Tony groaned. "Who takes selfies during an alien invasion?"
Natasha, Blade, and Ivan stepped into frame, phones at the ready.
Tony threw up his hands. "Seriously? What is wrong with you people?"
"Just admit it," Ivan said with a smirk. "You're an antique."
