Chapter 123: Chapter 123: Collecting Believers, Transformation of the Kingdoms
Late into the night, Jason's figure flickered through the Avengers base at supernatural speed. New York's situation grew increasingly dire, like a pressure cooker building toward explosive release. Thousands had already fled the city, but countless others – trapped by financial constraints or sheer stubbornness – remained to face whatever horrors awaited them.
Jason's master plan for formally settling residents in his God Domain was nearing implementation. For now, the operation would proceed in complete secrecy. Once the cosmic battle between Heaven and Hell concluded, his divine realm would make its grand public debut.
Over recent days, he'd utilized his extraordinary velocity to traverse every neighborhood in Manhattan. When proximity allowed, he could sense his followers' locations and gauge the intensity of their devotion. While methodically recording each believer's identity, he handpicked several thousand possessing the deepest faith tiers. These chosen ones would become the first citizens of his kingdom.
Jason assembled a specialized recruitment team to approach these individuals. Given their profound belief, minimal persuasion proved necessary – they eagerly accepted sanctuary within the divine realm. Many came from working-class backgrounds or outright poverty. Surviving in New York meant facing endless catastrophes with no means of escape. The God Domain offered their only salvation.
His first stop was a colossal warehouse district. Row upon row of supplies filled the cavernous spaces – daily necessities, industrial components, equipment worth billions collectively. This stockpile represented one of Jason's negotiated demands with President Penn. Though bewildered by the request, Penn had readily agreed – especially knowing the bill would ultimately land on Stark Industries' desk.
The crown jewel of the collection was a cache of nuclear reactor components, including rare, enriched fuel rods. While Jason possessed the divine power to materialize any object within his kingdom, doing so consumed substantial faith energy. Standard transportation proved far more economical.
Opening a golden portal to his realm, Jason systematically emptied dozens of warehouses within mere hours.
Now hovering mid-air within his Kingdom, Jason surveyed the vast plains below. A meticulously planned metropolis radiated outward from the center like a massive wheel. Currently, only a fraction – resembling a pizza slice – existed in physical form.
With focused intention, the imported construction materials levitated around him. Over previous days, he'd completed basic residential frameworks; now came infrastructure development – electricity and water distribution networks.
The entire process defied natural laws. Fissures split the earth as utility lines automatically connected themselves before soil reformed seamlessly. Gravel and asphalt components mixed aerially before settling into perfectly smooth roads that dried instantly.
The crowning achievements emerged last: a massive water purification facility and a nuclear power station. The water plant's design was elegantly simple – drawing from a crystalline mountain lake then filtering to perfection.
The nuclear complex, while ambitious, followed Jason's careful study of existing blueprints. Components assembled like cosmic Lego blocks in response to his will. Once the core reactor activated:
"HUMMMM!"
Power surged through the city's veins instantly.
Street lamps illuminated in cascading waves. Most spectacularly, a colossal neon display – a hundred-foot tall head sculpture of Jason himself – blazed into life. Below his luminous visage, animated letters proclaimed the city's identity: JASON CITY.
Despite his citizens' existing devotion, Jason understood the value of reinforcement. The currency would be Jason Coins. Shopping destinations became Jason Supermarkets. Mass communication via Jason Voice Radio. Employment centers were Jason Factories. At the city's heart, a hundred-meter statue captured his supreme authority in bronze permanence.
Surveying his gleaming creation with approval, he conjured a return portal with a satisfied thought.
…
In a Manhattan building's subterranean parking garage, unusual activity stirred at the midnight hour. Vehicles trickled in one by one, while pedestrians arrived carrying modest backpacks, moving with purposeful calmness.
They converged on the third subtier and waited patiently. Time stretched, yet no hint of anxiety marked these gathered souls.
Suddenly – FLASH!
Lightning announced Jason's materialization at the garage's center. Excitement rippled through the assembled believers.
"Ladies and gentlemen, a new life awaits you. I promise it will exceed every expectation!" With those words, he unveiled the golden portal to his realm. Radiant energy flooded the drab space.
"Welcome home!" Jason called before vanishing instantaneously.
This garage represented just one of multiple gathering points. He opened portal after portal across the city. Thanks to meticulous preparation, the entire operation concluded within hours. The first wave of citizens had successfully entered paradise.
Though initially selecting mere thousands, Jason's family-focused approach resulted in tens of thousands crossing over. The immediate effect manifested visibly – the oasis expansion accelerated noticeably.
At current projection rates, full planetary transformation would require centuries. But increasing population meant exponential growth. The future promised rapid development.
Back at Avengers headquarters, Jason contemplated before summoning a portal radiating pure darkness. This led to his Second Kingdom – a realm fundamentally different from paradise.
Where the First Kingdom sparkled with hope, the Second Domain embodied shadow. Perpetual twilight hung overhead while cracked earth stretched endlessly. Withered vegetation dotted the landscape. Thin mist carried the scent of sulfur. Bizarre mountain formations thrust skyward in impossible angles. Absolute silence reigned except for distant whispers.
Yet before Jason stood remarkable vitality: one thousand warriors in obsidian armor, demonic swords at ready position. These were the corrupted souls collected from San Vaganza Contract.
According to the previous Ghost Rider, entering Hell would transform these spirits into mighty warriors instantly. When Jason experimentally deposited them into his Second Kingdom, the metamorphosis proved even more spectacular.
One thousand elite dark demons!
Inspiration struck immediately. The Second Kingdom wasn't suited for mortal habitation, but demons? Perfect environment!
Ancient One had revealed that Mephisto's faction planned using New York as a highway to assault Heaven's gates. Jason's original counterplan involved another nuclear bombing of Hell – but they'd surely prepared defenses after the first strike.
However, possessing a thousand demon generals plus his divine transportation system changed everything dramatically.
If they want to borrow passage through New York, they need my permission as landlord!
Want to wage war on Heaven? Fine – I'll wage war on Hell!
Five tiers beneath the Avengers Research Building lay the facility's most secure zone. Technology actively scrambled psychic intrusion. Even the Vanko father-son laboratory remained restricted to floors above.
The section chief here? None other than Samuel Stern AKA The Leader, that was captured during the Hulk incident!
