Chapter 236: C158(2)
The order was swiftly relayed to Bunpuku. Although the monk was a staunch advocate for peace, he could not ignore the needs of his village and his comrades.
Inside Fenfu's sealed space, Shukaku, the One-Tail, stirred. Its voice echoed in Bunpuku's mind, half warning and half scolding.
"Old man, your body can't handle the Technique anymore. Let me take over this time. If you push yourself, you'll lose control of your body completely."
At first, Shukaku had despised Bunpuku. But over time, the beast had grown to respect the monk. Bunpuku's unwavering kindness and wisdom reminded Shukaku of the Sage of Six Paths.
Though reluctant, the beast now shared an understanding with its host—a bond forged through mutual respect.
The power of a tailed beast is not something to be used lightly, especially for someone like Bunpuku, whose age and condition made controlling such a force almost impossible.
Even if Shukaku, the One-Tail, refrained from seizing control of Bunpuku's body, the sheer strain of using the tailed beast's power would be overwhelming.
"Isn't that fine?" Bunpuku said, his voice calm as he turned his back to Shukaku in the sealed space.
With his hands clasped in prayer, he continued, "If I lose control, you'll have a chance to escape. I've troubled you for so many years, Shukaku."
"Hmph. You don't need to say that, old man," Shukaku replied gruffly. "Just leave it to me!"
Moments later, a deafening bang echoed across the battlefield, and a massive cloud of smoke, towering tens of meters high, erupted in the distance.
As the smoke cleared, Konoha's shinobi, standing a kilometer away, spotted a colossal figure emerging from the Sand Shinobi's side—a ten-meter-tall tailed beast.
Its round, sand-coated body, adorned with purple markings, exuded an oppressive aura that was palpable even from afar.
Gulp!
Some Konoha shinobi instinctively swallowed hard, gripping their kunai tightly. Fighting against other ninjas was one thing; battling a monster like this was another matter entirely.
Boom... Boom.
Every step Shukaku took as he moved toward Konoha's forces sent tremors across the battlefield.
Bunpuku, now entirely consumed by the tailed beast's power, was living on borrowed time. His life was rapidly slipping away, but he continued to push forward, determined to fulfill his role.
Behind Shukaku, Sand Shinobi troops scattered into formation. Under their captain's command, they prepared to smash through Konoha's defenses in one decisive assault.
"One-Tail... If it weren't for the sheer number of enemy forces," Orochimaru murmured to himself, ensuring no one else could hear. Without hesitation, he began entering Sage Mode.
Over the past two years, Orochimaru had strengthened himself significantly, developing two secret weapons: the Extremis Virus and Sage Mode.
As he activated Sage Mode, purple eye shadow appeared around his eyes, and his Chakra flared with a blue, snake-like aura.
The sheer intensity of his power blew away the surrounding dust, leaving Konoha's shinobi awestruck.
This was the first time Konoha's troops had seen Orochimaru in Sage Mode. They didn't fully understand what it was, but the overwhelming Chakra radiating from him was enough to bolster their morale.
"Summoning Technique!"
Boom!
Another explosion of smoke filled the air, followed by a deafening roar. A massive fire dragon appeared, its fierce presence rivaling that of Shukaku.
With each movement of its immense wingspan, powerful hurricanes swept across the battlefield, dispersing the smoke almost instantly.
The dragon's ferocious head loomed large, its razor-sharp claws glinting in the sunlight as if they could easily tear through steel.
Its immense body stood as a powerful counterbalance to Shukaku's oppressive form.
"This... is incredible," one Konoha shinobi murmured in shock.
The fire dragon wasn't the familiar Ten Thousand Snakes that Orochimaru often summoned.
Instead, it radiated a power and majesty far surpassing that of his usual Summoning beasts. Its mere presence left Konoha's troops in awe.
As the dragon's roar echoed across the battlefield, it signaled the start of Orochimaru's counterattack. Hidden in the distance, a specialized Summoning unit received Orochimaru's signal.
Using blood samples he had provided earlier, they smeared his blood onto their hands and prepared to perform a coordinated Summoning Technique.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Explosions echoed as multiple Summoning circles appeared in unison, unleashing reinforcements to join the battle.
Thirty massive fire dragons appeared on the battlefield's outskirts, their arrival heralded by Orochimaru's command.
With a deafening roar from him, the dragons flapped their wings, taking to the skies in unison.
The sheer force of their ascent stirred up powerful gusts, as they soared higher, heading directly in the direction of Orochimaru's signal.
Far from the heart of the ninja world lay Loulan, a nation that had managed to avoid much of the wars plaguing other lands.
However, the presence of the dragon veins—a source of immense power—had drawn conflict to Loulan's doorstep once again.
Boom!
The last mechanical puppet crumbled to the ground, struck down by a blond boy. Naruto knelt down, retrieving a USB drive from his gear, then flipped the lifeless puppet over.
Locating the data interface on the back of its head, he inserted the drive with precision.
"My side is done," Naruto said through the comms, brushing dust off his hands. "In three seconds, all the Pent 42 mechanical guards will shut down. Honestly, I can't believe that idiot Baizu managed to steal the Pent 42 designs. And what's worse? He made so many cheap knockoffs!"
As he finished speaking, the mechanical guards that had been wreaking havoc across Loulan abruptly ground to a halt.
Even the enormous super-mechanical guard battling Kakashi froze mid-attack, its systems fully disabled.
"Well done, Naruto," Kakashi replied over the headset. His tone was calm, though tinged with exasperation. "But I'll be reporting to the daimyo about you tampering with the seal."
"Wait, no, Kakashi-san—" Naruto began, his voice panicked.
But before Naruto could finish pleading, Kakashi deactivated the comm link.
Sighing, he approached Baizu, who was cowering behind a fallen mechanical guard. Kakashi pulled out a formal arrest warrant from his pouch.
"Baizu," Kakashi began, his voice cold, "you're charged with stealing confidential documents from the Land of Fire, trespassing in forbidden areas, and interfering with past historical events. As per the law, I am authorized to execute you on the spot."
Baizu barely had time to process the words before a flash of white light streaked through the air. His eyes widened in terror, but in the next instant, his head fell from his shoulders.
Kakashi sheathed his White Fang blade in a smooth, practiced motion, not even sparing the body a glance.
Scratching his head, Kakashi turned toward Naruto with a weary expression.
"Now the real question is… how do we get back?"
