"A magic that combines the Forgetfulness Charm and the Rain Calling Charm?" Noah glanced at the rain falling from the sky. After a moment of concentration, he immediately detected something unusual about it.
Honestly, he hadn't expected the U.S. Ministry of Magic to come up with such a spell. The complexity of mixed magic was significant.
"Fifty years ago, a wizard from your British magical community came over. Using his pet and the Forgetfulness Potion, he made a torrential rain to erase the lingering dangers from a past war," Brant explained, his gaze fixed on the drizzle. "Although we've repealed the Rappaport Law, we still prefer not to be in the spotlight."
In the American magical world, wizards didn't mind interacting with Muggles. In fact, the guy you might drink with at a bar and see passed out on the floor could very well be a wizard. However, they preferred to stay out of the limelight. Not everyone was like Tony Stark. Magicians were taught to hide in the shadows, living with the mantra: we are people behind the world. So, shouting out, 'I am a magician!' was simply foolish.
Noah nodded, glancing at the group around him. Their expressions were unreadable. He turned to Eric.
Noah couldn't help but be impressed. Maybe it was Eric's helmet, but he managed to dodge the rain almost immediately, though he was still partially soaked. It didn't seem to bother him much.
Eric had grown increasingly alert. The group in front of him was clearly no ordinary bunch. He was curious now. Who were they?
But soon, his curiosity waned. Whoever they were, as long as they interfered with his plans, they were enemies.
He raised his hand slightly, and in an instant, all the guns were pointed at Noah and his companions. With a grim look, he growled, "Who are you? What is your purpose here?"
"Us?" Noah touched his chin thoughtfully. After a brief pause, he answered, "We're here to talk to you."
"Talk to me?" Eric sneered. "Are you qualified?"
Before Noah could respond, the guns fired in unison.
Clearly, Magneto wasn't a fan of small talk, and he wasn't one to hesitate.
"Damn it!" The Sabretooth, still held by Charles, cursed angrily. Despite Charles's influence, he was still under control.
Charles was feeling a bit dizzy after spotting Noah and the others. He realized they were part of S.H.I.E.L.D.—an organization that should not be crossed. However, before he could warn Eric, it began to rain.
This was no ordinary rain. Even without seeing the outside situation, Charles could tell it carried special properties, making him momentarily confused.
As Charles scanned the area, he relaxed and focused. He could hear the thoughts of those around him and quickly realized what was happening.
The memories of these people were being erased, while new information was being implanted.
This method made Charles frown, and as soon as Noah mentioned wanting to talk to Eric, he understood. Some things were better kept from the general public.
Charles sighed in relief. But before he could fully relax, Eric's actions startled him.
"Does this guy even realize what he's doing?" Charles muttered under his breath.
Eric sneered, his voice cutting through the tension. "I knew you'd try something, Charles. You saved them this time, but what about next time? I won't kill them, but my patience is limited."
Just as Charles was about to reply, the bullets that had been aimed at Noah and his team suddenly froze mid-air.
Eric's confusion deepened as he realized something was off.
The ordinary people around them suddenly turned and began walking away with glazed expressions, leaving the area entirely. In the blink of an eye, the street was empty.
As they left, Eric noticed something strange. The space around them appeared to crack.
"It seems I was wrong about having a peaceful chat with you," Eric muttered under his breath, only to be interrupted by a young voice cutting through the confusion.
Noah sighed. He hadn't come here intending to fight Gandalf—no, Magneto—but there was little choice now.
Staring at the man before him, who was controlling metal like a magician, Noah couldn't help but think that Magneto was the real-life version of Gandalf!
Shaking his head, Noah pushed those thoughts away. This was no time for daydreams.
Noah stepped forward and, in an instant, opened the mirror space. All of them, including Professor Charles and Phoenix, who had been hiding in a car by the roadside, were pulled into the mirror world.
In the real world, Noah wasn't strong enough to defeat Magneto. Not with the reinforced concrete surrounding them. Magneto's abilities were too potent in his own environment.
Even with all of Noah's progress, he had to be cautious.
"I heard someone say his powers could affect the Earth's magnetic field if fully developed…" Noah mused quietly, raising his hand. Suddenly, the world turned upside down.
Eric, ever alert, was momentarily stunned. Though he quickly levitated, something felt off. The magnetic force around him seemed to have weakened.
On the other side, Charles and Phoenix were stunned. They hadn't even had a chance to jump out of the car when they were pulled into the mirror space by Noah.
"Hey, next time you plan something, can you let me know first?" Brand muttered, looking around at the warped world around them.
"You couldn't feel that?" Kate shot back, her arms crossed.
Even Evan, Lance, and Fury realized they had entered the mirror space.
"I'll give you a heads-up next time," Noah replied with a grin, as the world around them continued to twist.
With a snap of his fingers, the space transformed, resembling a labyrinth. It was Noah's strategy to deal with Magneto's magnetic power—twisting both space and magnetism.
Charles, watching the chaotic scene unfold, began to worry. Who are these people?
Eric, still hovering in the air, furrowed his brow. This was the first time he'd encountered such a bizarre scene.
"Guess," Noah answered with a smirk, before raising his hand again. A pale golden halo appeared, and his magic surged. A fiery phoenix, wings blazing, spread into the air.
"Damn it!" Eric cursed inwardly. He had initially thought this group of people might be mutants, here to negotiate. But now, he felt like they might be out to kill him.
Calming himself, Eric prepared to retaliate.
He waved his hand, and a wall of metal appeared in front of him. Noah's team may have powerful abilities, but Eric wasn't to be underestimated.
If Lance hadn't acted quickly, Logan would have been overtaken by Eric's metal constructs.
"Impressive abilities," Noah said, sensing the metal around him. Unfortunately for Eric, this was Noah's mirror space. The mutants had no prior connection with Kamar-Taj, nor the ability to interact with the more mysterious magicians.
Noah's magic surged again, and the golden halo flashed. The magnetic force shifted once more.
Eric's iron wall crumbled, and he watched in horror as the fire phoenix soared toward him.
Wherever the phoenix passed, flames ignited.
Eric knew that if it touched him, he'd be reduced to ashes.
"Didn't you say you wanted to talk? Are you planning to kill me instead?" Eric shouted.
