Chapter 2: Ch.: 2. Selling and buying
The beggar entered the portal carrying the sea products and put them near the garbage bin. He put a plastic cover on them and covered them with garbage bags.
He found pants and a shirt in a plastic bag and word them quickly.
After doing it, he closed the portal and stepped out of the dark alley and looked around.
He found that son was about to set, he saw many people holding cameras to take pictures of the sunset in New York, he had seen shorts on youtube about these types of people in his previous life.
After half an hour the sun was set and these camera guys were packing their bags and tourists were also leaving slowly.
These cameramen also take pictures of tourists for money.
The beggar got back in the alley and found a paper sheet and picked up corals and sat on the footpath.
"Come people, come! Look, these are corals, conchs, glass shells and iron coral produced in the deep sea! Come and buy them, decorate your home or office or gift them to your lovers!" Beggar started yelling loudly attracting the attention of people nearby, they took a look at products and men yelling.
Many people looked at clothes and found that he was a beggar.
They turned and left.
But few came forward and looked at products with more focus.
Some found them attractive and pleasing.
Some found a soft glow in a few corals.
"Hey, where did you find these things?" Suddenly one of the women asked the beggar.
"Well they are my family treasures, I went bankrupt and now I don't have any choice but to sell them." Beggar replied.
"Ok, give me this glass shell." The woman said to the beggar after hearing what he said.
"Ok two hundred dollars." Beggar said.
"This is expensive, reduce the price. If not, I will not buy it." The woman said.
"Sorry no price haggling." Beggar replied.
"Hey man can I check it?" Suddenly a man in fifties asked a beggar.
Beggar nodded.
The man picked up a glass shell and looked at its outer layer and found that everything was blurry, but when he looked from the inner layer he saw everything was crystal clear like there was no shell in front of him, he put it on his face like a mask.
"Ok, here two hundred dollars." The man took out money from his pocket and handed it to the beggar.
The woman who wanted to haggle was left stunned.
The man left with his glass shell.
Looking at the man walking away with the glass shell, she quickly chased him, as she had seen the effect of the shell, but because of her greedy nature she wanted to lower the price further.
But luck was not on her side and someone snatched the thing she wanted.
"Hey man, what is the cost of this glowing coral?" Another customer asked as he touched one of coral which glowed on his touch.
"That's for one hundred and fifty dollars." Beggar replied.
"Ok deal."
The man paid the money and left.
"Hey man, why is this coral so heavy and looks like metal?" Suddenly a young man asked, lifting the black coral in his hand.
"That is iron coral formed under great pressure of the deep sea, it was found by my great grandfather in India, when he was travelling across the world." Beggar replied.
"So what's the price?" A young man asked.
"One thousand." Beggar replied.
"It's so expensive." The young man muttered and put the iron coral back slowly.
Many people have already left hearing the prices, and the beggar was lucky that his two things were sold.
The remaining people just muttered slowly whether to buy or not.
A beautiful girl who was standing a few meters away was looking at this side, she was surprised by strange products of the beggar.
She was hearing the descriptions given by beggars to potential customers.
When she saw that all the people had left, she stepped forward.
"Hey sir, I want to buy them all." The girl said to the beggar who was about to stand up from the footpath.
"Oh, ok, three bioluminescent corals, one iron coral, total 1450 dollars total." Beggar replied.
"Ok, follow me and put all of these things in my shop there." The girl said as she walked towards her shop.
The beggar picked up all the corals and followed the girl to her shop, he put all the corals in the place the girl pointed.
He found that this was a cloth shop with a few spa things in the corner.
"Here 1450 dollars and another 50 for your service." The girl gave money to the beggar.
"Do you sell clothes for men?" Beggar asked the girl.
"Yes, If you want a haircut, I can give it to you." The girl replied with a smile.
"Ok, then give me a haircut first." The beggar said as he sat on a chair in front of the mirror and the girl took out her scissors and other tools.
A few minutes later.
"Ok done, you can choose what clothes you want to wear." The girl said to the beggar who has become a man now.
Beggar nodded and started looking for clothes suitable to his taste.
"By the way what's your name?" The girl asked.
"Mark, Mark Wayne." Mark made up the name on the spot, he didn't know whether DC comics existed or the world was mixed with Marvel.
He didn't ask the name of the girl in return, he just wanted to complete his task here and go.
The girl pouted slightly, but didn't say anything.
The way Mark talked and his posture was not like a beggar but a person from a well-off family, and that talk he said earlier that he went bankrupt earlier and these products he sold in the name of family treasure hinted that he was rich.
She has some hint in her heart that this man will achieve something in future.
But when she saw he ignored her talks, she thought that her hints were just thoughts which popped out of nowhere.
"Ok these ones will do." Mark said as he put the clothes he chose on the counter.
The girl snapped out of her thoughts and quickly made a bill.
"Total two hundred dollars." The girl said, handing the bill.
"Do you have a changing room?" Mark asked.
"Yes there." The girl nodded and pointed to the door.
Mark nodded and picked up a pair of clothes and came out in a few seconds in new fresh clothes.
He threw clothes he picked up from the dustbin in the dustbin.
He picked up the clothes packed in a paper bag and exited the shop.
"Now let's head to the motel and think about what to do next, as I can open the portal again next month, this cooldown is very long." Mark muttered as he entered the motel next Street and booked up one room, paying a few extra dollars to the motel owner.
