Chapter 39: "Abomination's Fall ."

-----

-----

Inside a certain room, everyone was staring blankly at a huge screen. What they were seeing left them stunned—Abomination was getting absolutely wrecked, unable to fight back at all. He looked as helpless as a little kid.

"He's gotten even stronger! Aren't you guys at least a little curious? Don't you wanna know how he did it?" Ross said, clearly excited. He was getting more and more eager to turn Jasper into a lab subject.

Then Nick Fury calmly chimed in, "And do you have any way to stop him?"

That one sentence made the entire room fall silent. Nobody could argue—none of them had any way to stop Jasper. Which meant, if they pissed him off, there was a real chance he'd just show up the next day and slaughter them all.

A lot of people in that room were dying to study Jasper, but not a single one dared to provoke him. After all, he'd once said he might go to the White House and punch the President in the face. If he'd say that, then dealing with them would be nothing.

Ross quietly sat back down. If even Abomination couldn't take Jasper down, then he had no backup plan. The guy gave off major danger vibes—like a sleeping lion. Wake him up, and you'd pay a serious price.

Ross still wanted to live a few more years. He'd just been testing the waters to see if anyone else in the room was on the same page. Turns out, they were all keeping their mouths shut. Bunch of sly old foxes.

Meanwhile...

Out on the ruined street, Jasper stood atop the rubble, looking down at Abomination, who now had teeth knocked out of his mouth.

Jasper cracked his neck and said, "If you don't scram right now, don't blame me for what happens next."

As soon as she heard that, Black Widow quickly ordered Abomination to retreat.

But Abomination wasn't gonna take that kind of beating lying down.

With a roar, he charged at Jasper again.

Purple lightning flared up all around Jasper, becoming brighter and more intense.

This was his newest power-up—he called it Thunder Form. In this state, his strength and speed skyrocketed.

Of course, it also drained stamina pretty fast.

So he needed to finish this quick.

BOOM!!

Jasper launched himself like a bullet, shattering the ground beneath his feet.

Abomination's instincts screamed danger—his body told him not to take this head-on.

He twisted, trying to dodge.

But could he really avoid it that easily?

BAM!!

Jasper's punch slammed right into Abomination's head.

A blast of purple lightning exploded from the impact.

Abomination went flying, rocketing into the sky.

At that moment, Jasper turned his attention to Black Widow, who was trying to slip away.

She noticed his gaze—and the very next second, he appeared right in front of her.

He grabbed her by the neck and said coldly, "And just who are you, exactly?"

He ripped off her mask—revealing a beautiful face underneath.

Black Widow.

Jasper stared her down and said, "You guys are playing with fire. If you don't give me a good explanation, you're dead."

His hand stayed around her throat.

Black Widow could feel that he really might kill her. She swallowed hard and said, "We just wanted to test your strength. We didn't mean to be your enemies."

Jasper couldn't tell if she was lying, but whatever. Killing her would just cause more trouble, and she had given an explanation.

He let go and dropped her to the ground.

"Don't bring trouble to yourself," he warned, then turned and walked away.

Black Widow rubbed her neck. She could tell—Jasper really was about to kill her for a second there. She'd seen that look before. But he was also smart enough to know taking her out would cause more issues, so he held back.

She made a mental note: stay away from Jasper. If this guy ever loses control, he'll be seriously dangerous.

Back at home, Jasper hopped into the shower. He was drenched in sweat.

While he showered, Shadow Spider silently hid in his shadow.

The Next Day

In class, everyone was buzzing about the fight between Abomination and Spider-Man. It had been one hell of a clash—and Spider-Man had totally dominated.

Spider-Man fans were hyped.

But then someone pointed out that maybe Jasper wasn't really Spider-Man. He seemed way more violent and way scarier. Real Spider-Man never gave off that kind of fear.

A lot of people agreed with that.

Jasper rolled his eyes. How was that violent? It's not like I killed anyone. I just broke a few things...

He put on his headphones and tuned out the noise.

A few minutes later, Michelle Jones pulled off one of his earbuds and whispered, "Don't listen to those idiots. You've been doing your best to protect everyone. And no one's gotten hurt where you show up. These people are just bored."

She looked seriously annoyed.

Jasper glanced at her and said, "I honestly don't care what they think. But... thanks anyway."

Michelle looked at him for a second, then said, "Well, if that's the case, take me out tonight?"

Jasper looked away. "I've got homework."

Michelle narrowed her eyes. "Don't think I don't know Peter's been doing your homework for you."

Jasper blinked. "Huh? Really? I forgot."

Just then, Gwen Stacy walked over. "What are you two whispering about?"

Michelle grinned, "Oh, Jasper was just saying how pretty you look today!"

Jasper: "…"

Gwen turned her eyes on Jasper.

Jasper gave a tiny nod and said, "You do look really pretty today."

Gwen beamed and sat down next to him, happily chatting away.

A few minutes later, Michelle and Gwen walked off together.

P.E. Class

Jasper and Peter Parker were sitting in the corner, watching the other students play basketball. Ned was there too. None of the three were exactly sports stars.

They were used to being teased during gym class by some of the more athletic guys, but Jasper didn't really care.

Honestly, he still didn't know most of their names.

Suddenly, a basketball flew straight at them.

Jasper thought Peter would catch it.

Peter thought Jasper would catch it.

WHUMP!!The ball smacked Jasper right in the head.

Jasper looked at Peter like, Seriously? Why didn't you catch that?

Peter looked back like, Hey, I thought you were going to!

Jasper: "…"

Peter: "…"

The whole place went quiet for a second.

Then one of the boys said, "What are you losers doing here anyway?"

Jasper stood up and stepped on the basketball.

The guy's face darkened—Jasper clearly wasn't planning on giving the ball back.

He walked over and said, "Pick it up."

Jasper raised his foot and kicked the ball into the air—BANG—it got stuck between the hoop and the backboard.

The guy looked at Jasper and just turned around to leave.

Jasper smirked and said, "I can play better with my feet than you can with your hands."

"....."
