Chapter 1: The Villainous System
In a high-rise apartment in New York, Jason stepped out of the bathroom, drenched, wrapped in a gray bathrobe. He stood before the floor-to-ceiling windows with a glass of whiskey, gazing out at the sparkling skyline of Manhattan.
The towering office buildings gleamed in the night, traffic congested the streets, and the murmur of pedestrians echoed in the background.
What a vibrant city.
On a large screen in a nearby square, a news anchor in a blue-and-white suit announced a breaking news story.
"According to sources, the U.S. military is considering purchasing the Jericho missile, a cutting-edge weapon developed by Stark Industries..."
Jericho missile?
Jason took a sip of whiskey, trying to recall the details in his mind.
Stark Industries… wasn't there a villain involved with that company? What was his name?
Time had passed, and the memories of his previous life were nearly faded.
Jason Walter was born on October 15, 1981, in the slums of Midtown West, Manhattan, a neighborhood also known as Hell's Kitchen.
His father worked for a small gang in Hell's Kitchen, and his mother was a convenience store clerk. He was their only son.
Growing up in a rough environment, Jason's childhood was marked by gangs, guns, and violence—things that shaped his eccentric personality, which never quite fit in with the other kids.
Life in a lower-class family was tough. To survive, Jason resorted to stealing at the age of eight, blackmailing classmates at ten, and robbing strangers with a 9mm pistol by twelve.
At thirteen, his parents were killed in a gang-related shootout. This tragedy led him down an even darker path, and he soon found himself in juvenile detention for assault.
When he was released at seventeen, Jason joined a small gang in Hell's Kitchen. Using the skills he'd picked up in prison, he quickly rose through the ranks.
Not long after, the notorious Wilson Fisk, aka Kingpin, saw potential in him and extended an offer. Jason, eager for power, accepted, becoming one of Kingpin's most trusted enforcers.
Over the next decade, Jason climbed the criminal ladder through sheer daring and strength, eventually becoming Kingpin's right-hand man.
By the time he was twenty-seven, Jason had it all: a car, a house, savings, luxury, women, and a crew of ruthless thugs ready to follow his orders. He had succeeded in every way... but there was a looming sense of emptiness.
As he gazed at the giant screen again, he saw Tony Stark being interviewed, and despite his confident demeanor, Jason felt a deep sense of powerlessness. Stark was an inventor and billionaire, someone whose reach extended far beyond any criminal. He couldn't compete with men like Stark, let alone the gods of the Marvel Universe that would soon arrive on Earth.
A new era of superheroes, aliens, and cosmic battles was approaching. Jason was just a thug in the grand scheme of things. Even if he were the second-in-command of the Kingpin's empire, to cosmic entities, he'd be no more than a stronger ant.
His future felt bleak.
Ding! You have slept with Vanessa, Kingpin's girlfriend. Villain points awarded: 20.
"Wait... What?"
The sudden, translucent screen that appeared before him caused Jason to frown deeply.
Is this some kind of system?
After a few moments of shock, Jason turned toward the solid wood bed five steps away.
An elegant woman, Vanessa, was lying under the covers, sound asleep, with a satisfied smile on her face. The chaos of the bed suggested the two had shared a passionate night.
Vanessa was Kingpin's girlfriend.
Who is Kingpin, you ask?
Wilson Fisk, also known as Kingpin, is Jason's boss. He's a towering figure of strength, capable of smashing through walls with a single punch. He controls all illegal activities in New York and commands hundreds of criminals.
Vanessa is Kingpin's most beloved—and only—woman. Any man who dares make a pass at her would find their body discarded in a dumpster by morning.
Jason was fully aware of Vanessa's importance in Kingpin's life, and he never imagined he would be in her bed.
A few days ago, Kingpin had to leave New York abruptly due to problems with his Los Angeles operations. Before he left, he gave Jason the task of protecting Vanessa. After all, Kingpin's enemies were numerous, and the woman he loved would be at risk.
Though Jason wanted to head to Los Angeles and kill the people responsible for messing with Kingpin's business, he had no choice but to stay in New York as ordered.
Reluctantly, Jason became Vanessa's personal bodyguard, escorting her everywhere and keeping her safe.
Jason's indifference toward her, though, seemed to pique Vanessa's interest. She started initiating conversations, which led to dinners, shopping trips on Fifth Avenue, and visits to art exhibitions.
And then…
Ding! Mission completed. The Villain System is now activated!
The transparent light screen blinked and pulled Jason back to reality.

The caller ID read… Kingpin.
In an instant, a chill ran down Jason's spine.
Oh no!
Was Kingpin aware of what had happened?
Jason felt his heart race.
No, that's impossible! He did everything in secret. There's no way Kingpin could know.
"Stay calm," Jason muttered to himself. "You've got this."
Vanessa stirred in her sleep as the phone rang.
Jason didn't have time to admire her beauty. He quickly covered the phone speaker and stepped out of the room to answer the call.
"Boss?"
A gruff, familiar voice responded from the other end.
"Jason~"
Jason swallowed nervously. "What's up, Boss?"
Kingpin: Silence.
"Everything's normal here in New York. The deal with Mrs. Gao is going smoothly," Kingpin continued.
Jason started to feel uneasy. "Is everything okay in Los Angeles, Boss?"
Kingpin: Silence.
"Tell me, Jason," Kingpin said, his voice smooth but with an edge, "What does it feel like to sleep with Vanessa?"
