Among the six Infinity Stones, the Power Stone is the most important. On its own, it can destroy an entire planet. When combined with the other stones, it provides them with energy, enhancing their abilities.
Because Infinity Stones only function within their native universe—and are nothing more than pretty rocks in others—George hadn't been particularly enthusiastic about collecting them until now.
But after thinking it over, he realized that even though he personally didn't care much about the Infinity Stones, that didn't mean others felt the same.
A single stone posed no threat to him, but if someone gathered several, the danger could escalate quickly.
So now that he was already out and about, he figured he might as well retrieve the Power Stone and store it in his transformation space for safekeeping.
He currently possessed the Power, Space, and Mind Stones. The Time Stone was still with the Ancient One. The Reality Stone remained sealed away, and only the Soul Stone was left scattered somewhere in the universe.
Even if someone managed to find the Soul Stone and pass its trial, possessing just that one stone would still not be enough to pose a threat to him.
Furthermore, while the Infinity Stones are external sources of power, they could still be useful in battle if he ever encountered a stronger opponent. They weren't completely useless.
In the future, once he attained a certain level of mastery in magic, he might even be able to gain deeper insights by studying the laws contained within the stones.
So, as he was about to leave Xandar, he had a change of heart and decided to take a detour to Morag to retrieve the Power Stone. After all, it would only delay him by a day.
A day later, the Sanctuary II arrived above Morag, a planet submerged in ocean.
Using Apparition to teleport above the sea, George closed his eyes and began to scan the area with his spiritual sense, trying to locate the Power Stone.
Although the Power Stone was sealed within the Orb, the overwhelming energy it emitted could not be completely concealed. As long as he concentrated, he was confident he could find it with a bit of time.
"Found it!"
Sure enough, after an hour of searching, he located the general position of the Power Stone.
"Transform."
Opening his eyes, he used transformation magic to turn himself into a large fish and dove headfirst into the ocean.
George had mastered his transformation magic to the point where he could become almost anything he imagined. However, during transformation, his magical power couldn't be fully utilized.
But that didn't matter—his regular superpowers alone were more than enough to deal with any sea monsters.
In fact, he didn't even need to use magic. Every sea creature that came near him, trying to make a meal of him, was instantly electrocuted by the lightning emanating from his body.
With lightning-enhanced speed, George swam rapidly through the water like an electric eel, and soon found the Orb containing the Power Stone in an underwater temple.
"Got it!"
He placed the Orb in his transformation space, reverted to human form, and teleported back to the Sanctuary II.
"All right, let's head back to Earth."
Star-Lord and the others exchanged confused glances. They had no idea what George had just retrieved from the sea, but they obediently piloted the Sanctuary II toward the nearest jump point.
Five days later, the ship arrived on Earth. After briefly summarizing the trip to Professor X and the others, George handed off responsibility and returned to seclusion.
The Nova Empire had a highly refined process for guiding less-developed civilizations into the interstellar age. With Professor X and Coulson handling the transition, things were unlikely to go wrong.
As for whether the leaders of various nations would try to stir up trouble?
The Nova Empire's partnership was with George—not Earth. Their support for Earth's integration into the cosmic community was solely because of him.
If the world's leaders failed to act sensibly, the Nova Empire would have no problem helping Professor X and the others put them in their place.
While Earth in the Marvel Universe was busy entering the cosmic age and initiating interstellar migration, in the world of Cardcaptor Sakura, Sakura and Syaoran were nearing the end of their quest to collect all the Clow Cards.
"Master, Sakura and Tomoyo invited us to Tokyo tomorrow," Syaoran said after finishing dinner on Friday evening.
Sitting nearby, Meiling also put down her chopsticks and looked at George with hopeful eyes, afraid he might say no.
"Go ahead," George said with a smile. "Take plenty of money—boys shouldn't be stingy on a date. And be careful."
With a wave of his hand, he cast a household spell that cleared the dishes from the table. Then he took out a Clow Card and handed it to Syaoran.
"I've finished studying the Fight card. Give it back to Sakura for me tomorrow, and while you're at it, borrow the Create card."
Not long after they had captured the Thunder card, Syaoran's cousin Meiling had come chasing after him and ended up staying. Since they were both juniors to the current body George inhabited, he naturally took care of them as well.
As time passed, Syaoran and Sakura's relationship grew closer—especially after a family visit to Hong Kong. At this point, it was only a matter of time before their relationship was set in stone.
Because of that bond, it was easy for George to borrow Clow Cards from Sakura for research.
However, to avoid interfering with Sakura and Syaoran's card-capturing process, he only borrowed one card at a time. Once he felt he had thoroughly studied it, he would exchange it for the next.
As for the whole process of capturing the Clow Cards, George never intervened. He neither helped nor hindered them.
To him, this was merely a trial and a game that Clow Reed had designed for his daughter—and it wasn't particularly dangerous.
George's real interest was in studying the magical system left behind by Clow Reed, especially the cards themselves, which encapsulated the essence of his magic.
Lately, he had been researching the Fight card—a magical card that encompassed all forms of combat techniques from around the world.
Even someone completely untrained and inexperienced could become one of the world's top martial artists simply by activating this card.
Up to now, George's close-combat style had been little more than brute strength—overwhelming opponents with physical power and reflexes alone.
His actual fighting skill was only slightly above average, and that little bit of knowledge came from a mutant research lab.
With his current physical abilities, if he were up against someone like Captain America—someone who had true combat training—he could easily be taken down.
Although his primary combat style relied on long-range magic, improving his melee abilities wouldn't hurt.
Now that he had mostly unraveled the workings of the Fight card, he could use its magic on himself. With it, even if his opponent had equal physical capabilities, he could outmatch them through sheer technique—yes, even someone like Captain America.
As for the next card he intended to study—the Create card—it held even greater value for him.
As the name suggests, it's a card capable of creating anything.
When activated, it produces a book. Whatever is written inside that book manifests into reality—a literal embodiment of the laws of creation.
If George could fully understand and master the power of this card, he might one day be able to create a world of his very own.
The more he studied the Clow Cards, the more he came to appreciate the immense power Clow Reed had wielded.
No wonder, with just a strong wish in his heart, Clow Reed had been able to prevent Yūko's death and give birth to an existence on the level of Fei Wang Reed.
