MARVEL'S MONSTER HUNTER WORLD

Chapter 54: A MUTANT'S DILEMMA AND AN UNSHAKEN RESOLVE

At this time, the little boy ran into the hall and yelled, "Mr. Derick... Mr. Qin, how are you here? Weren't you outside in the courtyard with Mr. Derick?" As soon as the child ran in, he saw Jean next to Professor Charles and asked suspiciously.

Jean looked confused, and Charles turned to her with a murmur: "Jean? No... it's Mystique!"

A Meeting in the Shadows

Raven carefully observed Watson and asked, "That's it?"

Watson shrugged. "What else were you expecting? Hurry up, Charles will be here soon..."

Suddenly, Raven's expression stiffened, and she spoke in an eerily calm tone, "Watson, are you okay?"

Watson immediately recognized the situation—this wasn't Raven speaking. It was Charles, using his psychic abilities through her.

Watson shook his head. "I'm fine, and don't worry, I haven't done anything to her."

"Good. I'll be there shortly."

As soon as the words fell, Raven's expression shifted back, and she clutched her head. "Damn it, Charles used me for his psychic abilities again!"

Watson rolled his eyes. "That just means he cares about you. He's afraid I'd get mad and beat you up..."

Raven suddenly squinted her eyes. "Wait... Why didn't he control you? Are you... immune to mind control?"

"Bingo! Do I get a reward? A kiss, maybe?" Watson teased. "Alright, hurry up and be a proper mutant."

Raven smirked. This man was interesting. With a slight shake of her head, her body began to shift.

Watson watched in fascination as Raven's form changed like a 3D animation breaking apart into layers, revealing her true blue-skinned, red-haired self.

Taking a step closer, Watson asked with curiosity, "Can I touch it? Just curious."

Raven, unexpectedly bold, grabbed Watson's hand and placed it against her cheek.

"Wow... soft," Watson remarked, pulling his hand back. "I thought the markings on your body were tattoos."

Raven gave a small smile before her body shimmered again, morphing into a completely different woman.

Watson tilted his head. She looked familiar... but not quite.

Seeing Watson's lack of reaction, Raven changed again.

Pepper Potts?!

This ability was insane.

Finally, Watson reacted, and Raven smirked before changing once more—this time into Natasha Romanoff.

For a second, the air froze.

Watson's eyes darkened as he grinned. "That's a very useful ability, Raven. But if you ever use this face in front of me again, you'd better pray Natasha never finds out."

His aura suddenly turned suffocating, a chilling dragon's glare locking onto Raven.

"Because if she disapproves... I will kill you."

Raven instinctively took a step back. That killing intent—it was real.

Just then, Charles arrived, scanning the situation before sighing in relief. "I'm very sorry, Watson, that you had to experience this."

Turning to Raven, he asked, "What are you doing here?"

"You already know, Charles. He's coming soon, and I was hoping to find him a powerful ally."

Charles shook his head. "But Watson is not a mutant."

"What?" Raven turned to Watson in disbelief.

Watson shrugged. "I never claimed to be a mutant. I don't have an X-gene."

Raven fell silent. Magneto was a pure mutant supremacist—if Watson wasn't one of them, there was no way he would accept him.

"Since that's the case, I suppose I wasted my time. You won't try to stop me, will you, Charles?"

"...I will stop him, no matter what." Charles turned and walked back toward the school.

Raven sighed before morphing into a random woman and walking away.

As Watson watched her leave, he called out, "I still think you're cuter in blue."

She glanced back with a small smile but didn't reply.

"Fool," she muttered under her breath. "It's called disguise."

Late-Night Reflection

Back at the school, Charles apologized again before leaving, clearly troubled. Watson said his goodbyes to the others and returned to his room.

In the middle of the night, he sat up and stretched. "Man, I really can't sleep well anywhere but my own bed."

Checking his system, he noticed someone outside on the minimap.

Anna Marie?

What was Rogue doing out this late?

Watson stepped outside to find her sitting alone, lost in thought.

"My powers... what should I do? Who am I?"

Hearing his footsteps, she turned. "Mr. Derick?"

Watson raised an eyebrow. "Why aren't you in bed?"

Rogue lowered her head. "I nearly caused a war because of my powers. They shouldn't exist. I'm nothing but a dangerous tool..."

Watson sat down beside her. "There's no such thing as a useless ability—only people who haven't figured out how to use it yet."

She stayed silent.

"Here," Watson said, holding out his hand. "Try using your power on me."

Rogue's eyes widened. "No! It will hurt you!"

"I'll be fine. Just trust me and go slow."

Hesitant, Rogue slowly removed her glove and pressed her palm to Watson's.

She braced herself, expecting the usual pain and energy drain.

But then... nothing.

Watson's health bar stayed at 100%.

No reaction.

99%.

100%.

It recovered instantly.

Rogue gasped. "You're okay?! Even Mr. Logan couldn't withstand my power!"

Watson chuckled. "That's because you absorbed his ability. But I'm not a mutant. I'm something... different."

A hopeful look flashed in Rogue's eyes. "Then... does that mean I can practice controlling my powers with you?"

Watson grinned. "Absolutely. Let's give it a shot."
