Marvel’s Shadowed Knight

Chapter 88: Chapter 88: Don't Eat the Pickled Radish!!!

At the same time, Captain America, who had been absent for quite some time, reappeared in the public eye.

He was in New Mexico, resisting the scattered rebel forces that had emerged in opposition to the American government after the Sentinel War.

His mission was to maintain the current state of America.

Although he had been operating in the shadows before, he was still a wanted man in the U.S. at the time.

If things had gone wrong, he could have faced attacks from both the rebels and the American military.

But now, he no longer had such concerns.

After Stark, Thor, and a certain someone who broke the American President's nose met with the President, all warrants against the members of the Ultimate Alliance were revoked.

Naturally, he could now appear in public without any restrictions.

Speaking of which, the plan Stark proposed to the President had indeed succeeded.

The U.S. and the City had reached a truce, with Stark being "sacrificed" to the Creator as the supposed price for the peace agreement.

Everything was progressing according to Stark's plan.

When Stark was delivered to the City, the Creator, Reed, immediately conducted a full examination of him.

However, what he didn't know was that the tumor in Stark's brain had its own consciousness.

This small oversight cost the Creator dearly.

Stark's brain tumor, Anthony, communicated with the City's AI and successfully made it realize that Reed's actions were not driven by the City's progress but by his own personal vendetta.

As a result, the City's AI announced to all "Children of Tomorrow" that Reed was no longer fit to lead them.

All "Children of Tomorrow" withdrew from the internal conflicts of America.

In the end, both the Creator, Reed, and the defected Hulk were completely subdued and handed over to the U.S. government.

This was why Stark and Thor were able to be here now.

The three titans of the Ultimate Alliance had returned to the world once more.

Their reappearance ignited excitement among the people.

Scattered members of the Ultimate Alliance, who had been displaced before, started regrouping under their banner.

Everything seemed to be heading toward a brighter future.

However, someone had made an even bigger mess.

Nick Fury looked at the two people he had summoned. At this moment, they might be the only ones in the world capable of handling this situation.

"I never knew S.H.I.E.L.D. had teleportation technology," Jessica said casually as she sat down in a chair.

With the fall of S.H.I.E.L.D., she and Nick Fury no longer had a superior-subordinate relationship.

Besides, she was now with the Batcave.

Nick Fury didn't respond.

After all, teleportation technology wasn't something S.H.I.E.L.D. possessed—it was something he developed himself through a scientific team that had studied Thor's teleportation abilities.

Although it was successful, it was nowhere near as powerful as Thor's ability to teleport the Three Fliers instantly.

However, bringing a few people over was more than manageable.

"So, what's the problem this time?" Jessica, seeing that Fury wasn't going to explain, simply shrugged indifferently. "Hopefully, we can resolve it quickly. I don't want Aunt May worrying about me when I get back."

"I also have a research paper that I've only written a tenth of," Miles added weakly, raising his hand.

Fury ignored Miles and instead looked at Jessica. "Have you grown too comfortable in your cozy little family life?"

"I think it's nice," Jessica replied.

She was no longer the same Jessica as before.

Maybe spending too much time with Bruce had changed her. By now, she was practically immune to Nick Fury's mind games.

After all, when it comes to darkness, who could be darker than the bat hanging upside down in the Batcave?

"No! Absolutely not."

Even Nick Fury was out of the question.

Realizing that his words had no effect, Nick Fury chose not to continue the conversation on this topic.

Instead, he turned around and played a video recording.

The location shown in the video was all too familiar to Jessica and Miles.

Because it was the same place where Aunt May's house had once stood.

But now, all that remained was a pile of ruins.

Just as they were about to ask what was going on,

A figure appeared, walking toward them from the other end of the street.

That silhouette, that familiar short golden hair—there was no doubt who this person was.

"Impossible! I watched him die at Kingpin's hands with my own eyes!"

Miles was the first to react, his emotions surging.

After all, he had once stood powerless, witnessing Spider-Man's death right in front of him. And now they were saying Spider-Man was alive? How was that possible?

Nick Fury didn't say a word. He simply pressed the pause button.

Jessica was also filled with doubt, but she didn't question Nick Fury.

Instead, she turned to Miles and shook her head. "Miles, keep watching."

Hearing Jessica's words, Miles had no choice but to stay silent and wait for what came next.

Seeing that Miles had calmed down, Nick Fury resumed the video.

When the figure finally arrived at the scene, Jessica and Miles could no longer deny it—

The person in the video was indeed Peter Parker.

Nick Fury even froze the frame on Peter Parker's close-up.

Miles could barely hold himself back.

"I assume you're going to give us an explanation, aren't you?"

Jessica, however, grabbed Miles before he could act, turning to Nick Fury with a cold gaze.

"The Spider-Man you saw—or rather, Peter Parker—is a clone."

Nick Fury's words instantly ignited Jessica's fury.

"I thought S.H.I.E.L.D. was better than this. Turns out, you're just like the rest of them!"

This time, it was Miles holding Jessica back instead of the other way around.

But even he was disgusted by Nick Fury's actions.

An organization that prided itself on justice was secretly engaging in such despicable experiments?

"I want to hear your explanation."

Jessica, restraining her anger, forced herself to speak in a calm tone.

"After years of research across different nations, aside from the Super Soldier Serum, the only stable method to create super-soldiers is cloning Spider-Man."

Nick Fury said it without even blinking.

"SON OF A BITCH!!!"

This time, not even Miles could hold Jessica back.

He could only watch as she threw a punch straight at Nick Fury.
