Chapter 12: Chapter 11: The Offensive from Senior Kasumigaoka
"If I joke about Annie at this moment, I'll get an elbow strike. And her favorability will drop."
So, Haruto obediently went through this phase.
Afterward, the two of them went to the largest manga and light novel publishing company in Chiba: Eishūsha.
Eishūsha was a well-known giant in the industry.
Normally, it was very difficult for newcomers to meet Eishūsha's famous editors when submitting a manuscript.
But...
The receptionist was a young lady.
And Haruto was not only handsome but also had an impeccable height and physique.
A refreshing-type super pretty boy.
So, in exchange for adding each other on LINE, Haruto managed to get the location of a senior editor's office.
And coincidentally, that senior editor was coming downstairs at that moment.
The receptionist whispered to Haruto,
"That's Editor Furukawa Ami, responsible for romance light novels and Weekly Shōnen Jump."
After thanking her, Haruto shifted his gaze to the editor.
However, the editor was not alone.
She was escorting a black-haired, long-haired girl out.
Haruto narrowed his eyes slightly.
"Kasumigaoka Senpai?"
The black-haired, long-haired girl heard someone call her and looked over with a puzzled expression.
When she saw the young man who had called her, she found it a little strange.
"Are you talking to me? I don't think we know each other."
Kasumigaoka Utaha, a super beautiful girl with long, straight black hair.
Haruto nodded.
"We don't know each other, but I've heard about you from a friend."
Kasumigaoka Utaha frowned. Because that kind of answer sounded like a cliché pick-up line.
And at school, Kasumigaoka had already grown tired of people hitting on her.
Moreover, being approached at Eishūsha, in front of an editor?
"Oh? Then may I ask the name of this friend?"
Kasumigaoka Utaha decided that if the boy gave a vague answer or made up a random name, she would show him the power of her sharp tongue.
"Sawamura Spencer Eriri."
Haruto answered truthfully.
"…Hmph."
The prepared sarcasm was swallowed back.
Because Kasumigaoka did, in fact, know Eriri.
Although they weren't in the same grade, they had attended the same junior high school.
They were known as the two great beauties of Toyonozaki Private Academy.
Editor Furukawa saw the two chatting—well, at least they seemed to be chatting—and decided to excuse herself.
"Kasumigaoka-sensei, I'll be heading back now. There's still work to do at the office."
Kasumigaoka Utaha nodded.
But at that moment, Haruto spoke up,
"Editor Furukawa, please wait. My name is Takamine Haruto, and I'm a newcomer submitting a manuscript to Eishūsha."
Editor Furukawa stopped and looked at Gu Zeyuan with surprise.
Gu Zeyuan handed over his Attack on Titan manuscript.
With an attitude of just taking a glance, Editor Furukawa skimmed the pages.
Then, her eyes widened.
This level of artwork… wow.
It didn't look like the work of a newcomer at all.
"Are all so-called 'newcomers' actually monsters?"
Editor Furukawa muttered to herself.
Then, her expression turned serious as she carefully reviewed the manuscript.
Kasumigaoka Utaha, hearing the editor's rare praise, was surprised.
This Editor Furukawa was known in the industry for her high standards.
Yet, she had actually complimented a newcomer's work.
Out of curiosity, Kasumigaoka also wanted to take a look at the manuscript.
But, out of politeness, she asked Haruto first,
"Would it be alright if I read it too?"
Haruto gestured for her to go ahead.
And so, Kasumigaoka leaned in to read.
Even though she wasn't an expert in manga, she was still shocked by the high level of detail and refinement in the manuscript.
Editor Furukawa read about one-third of the manuscript before finally looking up.
"Haruto-sensei, this manga is absolutely… anyway, please come with me. We need to discuss its serialization."
She had started addressing him as "Sensei".
That alone showed how much respect she now had for him.
Haruto smiled and nodded.
Kasumigaoka also looked away from the manuscript.
Although she preferred romance stories, she couldn't help but be drawn into this intense and gripping plot.
Combined with the extraordinary artwork, the action and characters felt incredibly vivid.
It was impossible not to love.
"Kasumigaoka-senpai… that's what you called me, right? Does that mean you got into Sōbu High?"
Kasumigaoka was a year ahead of Haruto and currently attended Sōbu High.
Haruto nodded.
Kasumigaoka took out her phone.
"Let's exchange LINE contacts. During the new school year, I can be your guide."
Kasumigaoka smiled.
Haruto's appearance and talent had piqued her interest. She was not like Eriri, the eternal loser in love.
If she was interested in someone, she would take the initiative and go for it!
Haruto chuckled and accepted the exchange. After that, Kasumigaoka said goodbye and left.
Meanwhile, Haruto followed Editor Furukawa to discuss the serialization details.
The Attack on Titan manuscript was so well-done that it could be published immediately.
Even the story didn't require any changes.
For the contract, Editor Furukawa offered an incredibly generous deal.
Haruto happily accepted.
"Haruto-sensei, do you have a pen name for your debut?"
Editor Furukawa was curious.
This young man acted very mature.
But his pen name… would it be something over-the-top and edgy?
She was really looking forward to it.
After thinking for a moment, Haruto smirked.
"Let's go with Takatsuki Izumi."
A little joke of his own.
Editor Furukawa was slightly disappointed.
Just a normal pen name… not edgy at all.
"Alright then, Izumi-sensei, I look forward to working with you."
Editor Furukawa extended her hand.
They shook hands, sealing their official collaboration.
With the manga settled, Haruto left Eishūsha with Annie.
As they walked back toward their apartment, Annie glanced behind them and whispered:
"Someone's following us."
Haruto hummed softly, signaling that he already knew.
He had sensed it for a while.
It was probably that Hayasaka Ai.
Should he catch her and train her into his little servant, making her regret ever spying on him?
Haruto pondered, his dark sense of humor kicking in.
Meanwhile, far behind them, Hayasaka Ai had no idea she'd already been discovered.
"So, he went to Eishūsha… to publish a work? So, that thing in his hands was a manga manuscript?"
