Mash-up Anime World: Creating the SCP Foundation to Contain Anomalies

Chapter 174: Chapter 172: Containing Ame-no-Uzume, the Band's Performance!

With a swipe of his fingertip, the lines of death unraveled.

The next moment, the crow feathers drifting in the air silently crumbled, dissolving into a wisp of black mist.

A piercing scream echoed through the space.

The sound was sharp and chilling, sending shivers down one's spine.

Haruto recognized this voice.

It was the scream of Hikaru Kamiki.

As the black mist gradually dissipated, the screams also faded into nothingness.

And with that, the reincarnator's story came to an end.

The girl surrounded by ravens watched this scene unfold, her eyes showing a rare glimmer of surprise.

"Now, he shouldn't be able to complete his mission."

Haruto spoke calmly.

With his Mystic Eyes of Death Perception, he had seen Hikaru Kamiki's lines of death.

It was the death of his very existence, more thorough than mere physical death, mental death, or even soul death.

With a swipe of his fingers, Hikaru Kamiki was erased from the world, completely beyond any possibility of reversal.

After that, Haruto simply lifted the restrictions of the world's power.

Time returned to its normal flow.

Countless ravens once again circled and soared through the air, though they now seemed more agitated than before.

Haruto and the girl locked eyes in silence.

A multitude of emotions flickered across her innocent gaze before she finally looked at him and spoke,

"You have to take responsibility!"

Haruto: ?

Hearing this, Haruto tilted his head in confusion.

He had expected that forcefully killing Hikaru Kamiki would make this goddess, who governed reincarnation, either furious or sorrowful.

After all, she had kept going on about some "mission."

But in the end, what she said was that he had to "take responsibility."

That sounded like he had somehow wronged her.

Tsk tsk.

Seeing Haruto's confusion, the girl added,

"Now you have to complete the mission. It has to be done. You must take responsibility!"

Haruto shrugged.

"So, what exactly is this mission?"

He didn't really care about the so-called mission.

The girl, however, hesitated for a long time without giving an answer.

Clearly, just like before, she only had a vague sense that there was a mission, but she had no idea what it actually was.

"In that case, why don't you come with me for now? Once you figure it out, you can tell me. Otherwise, finding me again later might be difficult."

Haruto extended his hand to her.

The girl looked at his outstretched palm, hesitating for a moment.

But in the end, she reached out and placed her delicate hand in his.

--------------

The containment process was much smoother than Haruto had expected.

After eliminating Hikaru Kamiki, he successfully met the goddess responsible for reincarnation and smoothly brought her back to the Foundation's containment site.

"By the way, what's your name?"

Haruto casually asked.

The girl, still holding his hand, looked up at the countless ravens swirling in the sky before answering after a brief pause:

"Ame-no-Uzume."

Haruto raised an eyebrow in surprise.

Ame-no-Uzume?

He had assumed she was another nameless deity like Kameshigami, but she turned out to be unexpectedly well-known.

A goddess from Japan's legends.

There were many shrines and temples dedicated to Ame-no-Uzume.

So why was such a famous goddess wasting her time fixating on reincarnating some random scumbag?

Thinking about this, Haruto was speechless.

He brought Ame-no-Uzume to the containment site in Chiba.

For her containment room, Haruto specifically arranged for it to be in the high-security containment level, right next to Kameshigami's room.

After settling Ame-no-Uzume in, Haruto went next door.

Inside the adjacent containment chamber stood an ancient and peculiar shrine.

As Haruto stepped inside, a vibrant butterfly emerged from the shrine, fluttering toward him.

The radiant butterfly circled Haruto a few times before gently landing on his fingertip, rubbing against him.

Seeing this, Haruto chuckled.

"Hello, Kameshigami. Long time no see. Looks like you still remember me."

The butterfly on his fingertip flapped its wings twice in response.

Haruto's smile deepened, though he couldn't help but feel a little puzzled.

Compared to when he first contained Kameshigami, had this butterfly from the river of time... grown smarter?

Well, being smarter wasn't a bad thing.

"Kameshigami, I actually came to ask for your help with something."

Haruto gestured toward the neighboring room.

"There's a delusional little goddess next door, obsessing over a scumbag from the entertainment industry. Her name is Ame-no-Uzume. I don't know if you know her, but anyway, help me talk some sense into her. As a goddess, she should be protecting her people, not wasting time on some worthless man."

Hearing Haruto's words, Kameshigami's wings paused mid-flap, as if puzzled.

Just as Haruto wondered if the butterfly deity hadn't understood, it suddenly took flight and landed near the wall separating the two rooms.

Seeing this, Haruto stepped outside and removed the partition between the two containment chambers.

Ame-no-Uzume curiously looked at the shrine in the adjacent room, as well as the radiant butterfly.

Kameshigami flapped its wings and flew toward Ame-no-Uzume. The girl extended her delicate fingers and allowed the butterfly to land on them.

Then, the two deities seemed to engage in some kind of silent communication.

Watching this unfold, Haruto nodded in satisfaction.

Now that was more like it!

A rebellious young goddess being guided by a wise senior deity to change her mindset and embrace her true responsibilities, this was exactly what needed to happen!

As for whether Kameshigami and Ame-no-Uzume would conspire together to break out of the containment site...

Haruto had full confidence in Kameshigami.

This butterfly from the river of time had been contained at the site for quite a while and had never caused any trouble.

In fact, given its nature, if Haruto weren't personally overseeing it, the Foundation wouldn't even have the means to contain Kameshigami properly.

Unfortunately, the Foundation still lacked the capability to restrict time-based entities.

Kameshigami remained at the site entirely out of its own willingness to cooperate.

As for Ame-no-Uzume, she was more like a confused little girl and lacked the ability to break out.

[Successfully contained anomaly: Ame-no-Uzume.]

[Anomaly classification: Level 5 Apocalyptic. Containment status: Stable.]

[Reward: One Level 5 lottery draw.]

As the system notification popped up, Haruto left the site in satisfaction.

---------------

Time passed, and soon, the weekend arrived.

The scheduled performance date had finally come.

Haruto rode in Kyoko Saito's car as they headed to the Shimokitazawa performance hall.

Unfortunately, the weather was terrible today.

Early in the morning, Japan's meteorological office issued a storm warning, advising citizens to stay indoors.

The streets were nearly deserted, the only sounds being the howling wind and the rustling of tree branches.

Clearly, expecting ticket-holding audience members to brave the storm just for a 500-yen ticket, barely the price of two cups of bubble tea, was unrealistic.

After entering the nearly empty venue, Miyako frowned.

"President, I don't mean to question your judgment, but… can a decent band really be found in a place like this?"

Shimokitazawa's live houses weren't even among the more well-known underground music venues. Hoping to find a band here that could match the level of an established idol group seemed like a pipe dream.

Or rather, trying to find hidden gems in the underground music scene itself was an impossible gamble.

Haruto merely smiled and gestured toward the stage, signaling Miyako to watch before making a judgment.

Though the audience turnout was dismal, the performance was set to proceed as planned.

As the lights dimmed, four young girls stepped onto the stage.

The atmosphere was heavy, and even the usually cheerful Nijika Ijichi struggled to maintain her smile.

They had poured their hearts into preparing for this moment; practicing tirelessly, day after day, with hopes and dreams built upon their effort.

Yet in return, they received nothing but a storm warning and an empty venue.

The emotional letdown was crushing.

In a way, it would have been less painful if no tickets had been sold in the first place—then, at least, they wouldn't have had expectations.

As the spotlight came on, Ikuyo Kita forced herself to stay upbeat as she introduced the band.

"We are Kessoku Band. Thank you for coming to our performance. Our first song is 'Guitar, Loneliness, and Blue Planet.'"

With that, the music began.

But…

Nijika missed her cue.

Ikuyo's vocals were off-key.

Her fingers, stiff with nerves, struck the wrong guitar notes.

Even the usually reliable Ryo Yamada played her bass below her usual standard.

Miyako frowned as she listened.

She always trusted the president's judgment, but this time, she was certain he had made a mistake.

This band was simply not ready.

When the song finally ended, the venue was dead silent.

Miyako took a deep breath, leaned in close to Haruto, and whispered,

"President, maybe next time. They still have room to grow."

Her words were gentle but firm.

But in the next moment, Miyako watched in shock as Haruto raised his hand.

"You can do it!"

His voice echoed in the empty live house, bouncing off the walls.

The few audience members present were stunned.

Even the four girls on stage froze.

For the first time since stepping onto the stage, Hitori Gotoh, who had kept her head down the entire time, lifted her gaze.

Her teary eyes locked onto Haruto.

Then, without hesitation, she clutched her guitar tightly, pressed her pick against the strings, and strummed with all her might.
