Chapter 5: Chapter 5: Mrs. Sawamura’s Worries—What If My Daughter Never Gets Married?

Eriri dashed into the apartment.

Haruto took a deep breath before calmly closing the door.

A tsundere was nothing he couldn't handle.

Eriri had originally entered out of sheer stubbornness after being dismissed. But once inside, she was immediately drawn to a stack of drawings on the table.

On the surface, Sawamura Eriri was a refined and elegant young lady from a prestigious family.

In reality, she was a hardcore otaku and a well-known doujin artist.

Of course, her true passion was drawing.

So, upon spotting the manuscripts, she couldn't help but be captivated.

Takamine Haruto followed her inside, discreetly putting away the two sets of tableware from the table.

Hah, mere Eriri.

Eriri flipped through a few pages, her expression shifting to excitement and surprise.

"Is this Haruto's work? Your skill has already reached seventy percent of my level!"

She knew Takamine Haruto had been studying manga.

He even asked for her advice on some techniques.

But this level of polished artwork was something she had never seen from him before. And soon, she became deeply engrossed in the story.

It wasn't until she finished the entire manuscript in one go that she looked up again.

"This is amazing! Do you have more? I want to see the continuation!"

Eriri spoke excitedly. She was completely hooked on the story about Titans.

She hadn't even noticed Haruto quietly removing her half-eaten plate of fried rice.

Takamine Haruto shook his head.

"This is all I have for now. The rest will take time."

Eriri reluctantly put down the manuscript, clearly reluctant to part with it.

"Are you planning to debut as a manga artist? Since you learned from me, I bet you'll become famous soon!"

"Do you want me to introduce you to an editor? You just need to treat me to three meals, and I'll make the arrangements!"

Eriri held up three fingers with a sly grin.

'Three solo outings… This should… no, it will definitely lead to progress!'

She thought to herself.

However—

"That won't be necessary." Takamine Haruto shook his head.

Eiri: !

"Why!?"

She blurted out in protest but quickly realized her outburst was inappropriate and sat back down, blushing.

Haruto pointed at her, stating matter-of-factly:

"Because all the editors you know specialize in ecchi content. Totally the wrong genre."

Eiri: o.O

She had completely forgotten about that critical detail.

Eriri wanted to clutch her head and cry.

"There must be a way!" Eriri made one last attempt.

Haruto reached out and ruffled Eriri's golden hair, smiling. "No need."

Eriri shook her head, shaking off Haruto's hand.

"Haruto, you're such an idiot!"

Then, Eriri launched her signature twin-tail attack—whipping her hair, using her golden twin-tails to strike like a secret technique.

Ultimately, the attack was forcibly stopped when Haruto cupped her cheeks.

Feeling the warmth of his hands on her face, Eiri's cheeks instantly turned crimson, the blush spreading down to her neck.

"Baka! Let go of me!"

"You were the one who attacked first, Eriri."

"Urusai!"

After Eiri shouted her signature phrase, Haruto finally let go.

The tsundere girl clutched her face, cooling down for a long time before returning to normal.

"Hmph!" Eiri huffed, turning away to avoid looking at Haruto.

Coincidentally, her gaze landed on the bedroom door.

Remembering the manuscript in her hand, her curiosity was immediately piqued.

She was curious about Haruto's manga workspace.

Jumping down from the chair, Eriri walked toward the bedroom.

Just as she grabbed the doorknob, ready to pull the door open—

A hand pressed against the door.

Eriri: !

The door was held shut, preventing it from opening.

Eriri turned her head and saw Haruto's face right in front of hers.

'T-This… this is the legendary kabedon!'

Realizing this, Eiri's eyes turned into spirals, lost in embarrassment and helplessness.

"So curious about my room? Eiri, could it be that you actually like me?"

Haruto's voice reached her ears.

Eriri could even feel his breath.

The heart that had just cooled down began to boil once again.

"I… I…" Eriri stammered.

Such an intimate situation, such a close atmosphere…

And considering the fact that, deep down, she really did have feelings for the boy in front of her…

So—

"What nonsense are you talking about?! I'm leaving! Idiot! Big idiot!"

Eriri chose to flee.

Frankly, if it had been anyone else, this scene would have ended in a bold move.

But not her—Eiri the Golden-Haired Defeated Dog.

Struggling out of the kabedon, Eriri ran straight to the entrance, opened the door, and left the apartment.

She dashed into her own apartment next door, slammed the door shut, and crouched down in the entryway, clutching her head.

"What am I doing?! I just needed to… AHHHH! I missed my chance again!"

Eriri clutched her head and wailed, regretting her actions.

Hearing the commotion, a beautiful woman emerged from inside the apartment.

She bore a 70% resemblance to Eriri, sharing the same petite frame and twin-tail hairstyle—but with black hair instead.

This was none other than Eriri's mother, Mrs. Sawamura Sayuri.

Seeing her daughter crouching and wailing at the entrance, Mrs. Sawamura didn't even need to ask to know what had happened.

She let out a long sigh of exasperation.

Mrs. Sawamura was really worried about her foolish daughter.

How would she ever get married?

After three years of being neighbors, Mrs. Sawamura had come to understand the boy next door quite well.

Kind-hearted, handsome, and a genius—he even ranked first in the national exams.

And her daughter clearly liked him.

Naturally, Mrs. Sawamura hoped the two would get together.

But… it had been three years!

As a mother, she had even stepped in to help multiple times.

And yet, her daughter had made zero progress.

Mrs. Sawamura covered her face with her hand and sighed again.

A boy like Haruto was definitely popular with girls.

At this rate, her daughter was doomed to be a defeated dog.

After all, a fake childhood friend and a hardcore tsundere? No chance at all.

Mrs. Sawamura could already see the tragic future awaiting her daughter.

Sigh… What should a mother do to save her?
