Chapter 19: Quirk Apprehension Test (1)

~Ren Y. POV~

[UA High, Boys Changing Room, Japan]

With that done everyone began to follow suit with Kirishima asking me in a curious tone walking down the hallways, "Hey! Did you by chance save 2 girls from a giant villain a few months ago?"

Hearing that question, I turned to him, pausing before answering in an honest tone, forgetting about that event, "Well, I wouldn't say save, but yeah why?"

He quickly took a quiet bow causing a bit of a scene for us, "Thank you!"

This caused Mina's eyes to widen as I responded in a sheepish tone, rubbing the back of my head, not used to this praise, "What's with that? Were they your friends or something?"

That was when Mina came with a smirk on her face walking over in an upbeat tone, "No. They were mine though."

Pretending to be confused for a second, I soon exclaimed making it look like I remembered in a curious tone, "Ah! I recognize you. You're the girl that was running to attack that guy, weren't you? Poor choice of action. He'd have crushed you."

Blinking her eyes, she waved her hands, denying such claims I made, explaining in a chill tone, "No. I wasn't going to attack him, just distract him long enough for help to arrive. Anyways, thanks for saving them."

Shrugging my shoulders I can see Toga eyeing me accusatory as I replied but soon pointed at Karishima, "Don't mention it. Wasn't much. But by that logic though, were you the guy that was stuck in fear by the intersection?"

Drawing the attention to him as he explained himself clenching his fist in a determined tone eyeing me, "Uh… yeah. I'm ashamed. It wasn't manly at all. But you were so manly! How you casually talked him down and led him away! So cool!"

Smiling at this I responded in a casual tone as we continued walking down the hallways shrugging my shoulders, "Don't mention it, man. But you certainly flipped your appearance. What's with that red hair and all? I almost didn't recognize you!"

However, I felt a chill with Toga asking with an 'innocent' smile on her face 'cutely' asking me no more like demanded, "Ren-chan, when did this happen? Was it before or after?"

Knowing what she meant, I replied, accidentally slipping my tongue off the event, soon drawing attention to myself in an innocent tone, "Before the Naruhata Incident. I learned my lesson last time trying to convince Lady Nagant – shit."

But before the girl's process, they began to ask questions. Once I was at the boys' changing room entrance everyone but Shoto, Toga, and Bakugo asked curiously since Lady Nagant confession was known to them. Info regarding it was scarce but I just had to open my mouth on instinct.

"Hey, what did Toga mean by Naruhata Incident?"

"Did it have to do with vigilantism?"

"How did you not get caught?"

"Vigilantism is not cool!"

"What's your Quirk?"

"Tell me about the villain!"

"Was the Lady Nagant hot?"

Being drawn to the center of attention, I attempted to calm them down, responding in a calm tone, but it seemed like Bakugo and Shoto were interested in listening, "Guys, guys. Can we talk later? All of you. Let's get dressed and to the field. I'll tell you on the way. And one question at a time."

They all agreed and rushed to the locker rooms to change. As I changed Sero looked over to me in amazement pointing out loud, "Guys, you seeing this? He so jacked!"

As the rest of them looked at me, some gasps were abound. Kaminari asked in a curious tone of my body physique, "What sort of insane workout do you get like this?"

I replied in a casual tone, putting my gym pants on and pulling up the rest of the jumpsuit, "You can't handle it, trust me. It's better for you to not know."

Kirishima, being the manly kid that he is, asked in an optimistic tone, "Just tell us. We can handle anything!"

I sighed, pulling out from my [Sub-Space], surprising my classmates with a training regime routine in a casual tone, "It's too much to explain. I'll give you the routine later I have it noted down. Now any questions?"

They blinked surprised but seeing soon getting the chance with Kaminari asked in a curious tone, "So what was Toga-chan saying about you during the Naruhata Incident? What exactly is that?"

Rubbing the back of my head I responded in an embarrassed tone explaining that whole debacle, "Oh that… well to summarize let's just say I was tailing someone that could be a villain. When he took a friend of mine to an abandoned building in Naruhata things went south real fast."

Kamanari nodded his head, with Ida asking in a curious tone with the usual stoic voice, "If that's the case, what was the villain like? And did you fight him?"

I nodded my head as I explained in a heated tone on the subject, sighing out loud, "Yup. Not my brightest idea against a Villain that's a speedster, suicide bomber, and fucking regenerator but I managed to get him by surprise. Talk about a real scary experience."

That seemed to gain their attention, and they were surprised by my actions, with me raising my hands up and exclaiming, "But fortunately, enough though I managed to knock him out by surprise right in time for the police and heroes to come to the scene. I stalled enough time for when Heroes Eraser Head and Midnight with the Police came to capture the Villain and corpses, ending that story."

We soon exited out of the field with Kirishima and Sero shouting out loud, "That's so cool!!"

The girls soon whined except for Toga as they heard the shout, with Mina complaining, "Aw, man, we missed it all!"

I rubbed the back of my head, changing my attention to Eraser Head. I wonder what a day in his class is like in reality.

~Shouta A. POV~

[U.A. High School, Field Gamma, Japan]

I look at the children in front of me. They were those whose quirks have the most potential to develop into something Pro Heroes, they're the Class 1-A. Though usually there are transfers through the classes there are those who will stay in 1-A Class through the whole 3 years here.

I look at the kids, there are quirks like the one Shoto Todoroki has. With a quirk like that, he will become a Pro Hero, in this world no matter what anyone says people are truly born unequal though they can be somewhat overcome with hard work… up to a certain extent.

Then I look at the others as they come to the field where I hold the Quirk Apprehension Test. As they all come, I look at the one who I think has the best potential amongst all the ones in here.

Ren Yuki. An enigma for some who know his identity and background. His Quirk [All in One] allows one to permanently copy the Quirk of his target by touch not flashy at first but it holds the most potential under that kids use.

Been Quirkless for most of his life and only a year ago using his Quirk having decent usage facing discrimination most of the time but persevering. I laughed my ass off when I saw the news of the 3 heroes getting scolded by a child doing their jobs.

But then came the Naruhata Incident, where he fought against the Villain with multiple Quirks and, fortunately, managed to get him by surprise and call law enforcement. It was idiotic of him to fight the villain, but you gotta give him guts, being a shield for his friends to escape, which leads to a major problem for him.

He has a big hero complex. But nothing with my teachings can't fix his attitude in order.

He has the bark and bite I'll give him that much. But from my understanding, his been sparring with Soga and Koichi before entering UA but could still use some work with the right equipment.

When they are all here, I just tell them in my usual voice maintaining my stoic expression, "Today we will be holding the Quirk Assessment Test. To see where the limit of your Quirk is."

When one of them hears this, they say in an argument stating the obvious, "But orientation… we are going to miss it."

Sigh… well then, I guess I better teach them some things as a teacher. I just say to them in a stoic tone, "Sigh… If you want to make it to the big leagues you can't waste things on pointless ceremonies. We here at UA are tethered differently and I can run my class as I see fit."

Then I looked at all of them in the eyes and said in a neutral tone gazing at their expressions carefully, "You have been taking standardized tests your whole life… and you have never used your Quirks in them before. The country is still acting like we are all born equal and not letting those with power excel. It's not rational. One day the ministry of education will learn."

Then I turn my eyes towards one of the students and say in a stoic tone, "Yuki you managed to get the most points on the entrance exam. What was the furthest distance softball throw when you were in junior high."

Yuki seems to think a little before answering, "69 meters… I think."

Good enough. I mentioned to him tossing a softball, "Try doing it with your Quirk."

Ren comes forward and goes into the white circle. I tell him that anything goes if he stays within the circle. Then Ren just seems to think of something, so I just say to him in a stoic tone, "C'mon just go ahead you are wasting our time."

He just smiles and says, "Sure Aizawa-Sensei."

Then he just simply throws his ball. High in the air and as it was coming down, I saw his body begin to spin. Rotating quickly gaining momentum… I see where this is going. Then as the ball comes down, he kicks it using the built-up momentum with a halo ring –

*BOOOOOM*

And it flies away. Well… I did say to him that anything goes if he stays in the circle, but it is a ball throw. Well, I guess I will also say not to kick the ball to the next batch of students that comes around.

Glad to see this copycat managed to be friends with those vigilantes in Naruhata. I guess it makes sense seeing The Crawler's Quirk [Slide and Glide] it holds the potential to be a Hero.

Checking my device for that measurement of how far the ball went I see the number 1669. So, 1669 meters is pretty good, then I show it to the other students. They all gasped seeing it, "WOOOOAHHH!!!"

Then I hear the pink girl say in an excited tone, "That looks like fun. I wanna go!"

I also hear someone else say in an excited tone, "Using our Quirks as much as we want. This is what I'm talking about."

These children are taking it as fun, are they? I just looked at them with a cold expression and spoke in a cold tone, "Fun…? Fun, is it? You have 3 years in here to become heroes… you think it's going to be fun and games. Idiots… today, you will compete in 8 physical tests to gauge your potential. Whoever gets the last place has none… and will be expelled immediately."

"WHAT!!"

All the students looked shocked as I looked at them again explaining myself, "As I told you before, I get to choose how I run my class. If there's a problem, you can head home right now."

Then the gravity girl, her name was Ochaco Uraraka if I'm not wrong seemed a little riled up and said, "We just got here… you can't send us home. Even if it wasn't the first day that isn't fair!"

Okay, these little shits are annoying me now. My voice got a little colder as I spoke to her in a harsh tone looking at all of them, "Oh, and you think natural disasters are? Or power-hungry villains? Catastrophic accidents that wipe out whole cities?!! NO! The world is full of unfairness, it's a Hero's choice to try and knock back that unfairness. If you want to be a pro then you will have to push yourself to the limit. For 3 years UA will throw one terrible hardship after another at you."

I then lazily point my finger towards them with an apathetic smirk, I say to them in an aphetic tone, "Your fates are in our hands. Welcome. This is the hero course at UA High School!"
