Chapter 79: Chapter 079: Born a Warlord
"Now, let's go over the rules for the Cavalry Battle. The match will last for 15 minutes. The total score of each team is determined by the sum of all its members' points."
"The rider must wear a headband displaying their team's score. Players will try to snatch headbands from other teams before time runs out. The final ranking will be based on the total points held at the end."
"Any stolen headbands must be worn around the neck. Also, losing your own headband or having your team fall apart will not result in elimination."
"Quirks are allowed in the competition."
"However, since this is still a Cavalry Battle, any deliberate attacks aimed at breaking up a team's formation will result in a red card and immediate disqualification."
"You now have 15 minutes to form your teams," Midnight announced leisurely.
As soon as she finished speaking, many students rushed to find teammates.
Ezaki Kitazawa paused for a moment—this kind of match was just too boring for him.
"Ezaki, team up with me! We've got this in the bag!" Mineta said with an excited grin as he looked at Ezaki.
"Huh? Mineta, even without you, we'd still win," Kaminari Denki chimed in, teasingly.
Mineta frowned. "Can you not be so brutally honest?"
"Team up with me!" Kaminari stepped in front of Ezaki and added, "You're going to be the rider, right?"
"Yeah, yeah! You're in!"
"What about me?" Mineta asked hopefully.
Ezaki Kitazawa frowned. "Not happening. You're too short—you'd be a crippled horse."
He wasn't joking. He didn't really care who he teamed up with, but Mineta was just too short to be a viable teammate.
"Hahaha!"
Kaminari patted Mineta's shoulder and laughed. "Ezaki's right. Your height is a real problem. Unless you're the rider, you'd just be a broken-legged horse."
Mineta's face darkened, but he had no choice but to look for another team.
"Ezaki, do you have room on your team?"
Jiro Kyoka walked over and asked.
"Still need two more. You in?" Ezaki Kitazawa asked.
Jiro Kyoka smiled. "Sure!"
"I'll take the last spot. Never had the chance to win without doing anything before." Kirishima Eijiro grinned.
"Alright, that makes a full team." Ezaki Kitazawa said casually.
Meanwhile, in the break room—
The principal pushed the door open and walked in. Noticing All Might sitting there, he asked,
"So? Has Ezaki Kitazawa changed at all?"
All Might looked up slightly. Seeing that it was the principal, he replied calmly,
"Oh, it's you, Principal. Yeah, I haven't seen him for over a week, and his strength has skyrocketed again. And that's just his base power—he didn't even use his Quirk in the last event."
"Just as I expected. Have you heard about the cliff collapse deep in the forest yesterday, All Might?" the principal asked.
"I did, but they're still investigating whether it was caused by someone or if it was just a natural accident." All Might replied.
"The investigation is done. The team confirmed it was man-made—apparently caused by a single punch." The principal explained.
"A single punch? Was it an enemy?" All Might's eyes narrowed.
The principal just smiled, sat down, and said,
"Don't worry, All Might. It wasn't an enemy. It was Ezaki Kitazawa."
"Ezaki Kitazawa??? Does the investigation team know?" All Might asked.
"They don't. I already spoke to them and had them label it as a natural occurrence."
"Smart move. Still, Ezaki Kitazawa never stops surprising us." All Might leaned back slightly.
"Yeah. From the first time I met him, he left a deep impression. He's the first student I've ever heard Aizawa praise." The principal chuckled.
Just then, All Might's phone chimed.
After silencing it, he stood up and said,
"He's the most unique person I've ever met. If this were wartime, everyone would fear him."
He felt lucky—lucky that Ezaki Kitazawa had chosen the right path. Otherwise, he didn't even want to imagine the consequences. Even Midoriya Izuku, who inherited One For All, might not stand a chance against him.
"If he were born in wartime, he'd be a natural war god. But in this era of peace, he might not be able to reach his full potential." The principal added.
All Might immediately shook his head.
"No... Principal, in a time of peace, he is the symbol of peace! Anyway, no time for this now. The second event for the first-years is about to start. I have to go."
With that, All Might turned and left.
