Chapter 24: Nana Shimura [2]
David walked with a slight skip in his feet towards Kaede's home, the thrill of his new power still fresh in his mind.
As he approached the house, he spotted Rin and Aoi, standing at the doorway with their luggage, ready to leave.
The timing was perfect—just as they were about to step out, he arrived.
"Hey," David greeted them casually, his tone warm and polite.
His expression was unusually cheerful, which immediately caught the siblings off guard.
Seeing how they almosr never saw him truly cheerful.
Rin, normally quick with a sharp retort or a frown, seemed to hesitate for a moment, her eyes flickering with mild confusion as she stared at him.
"David," Rin replied, blinking. "Uh, hey?"
Even Aoi, who tended to be more reserved, seemed momentarily thrown off by David's sudden bright demeanor.
There was something different about him, a charisma and confidence that made him seem almost… larger than life.
David couldn't help but notice their reactions but didn't let it affect him. Instead, he offered, "I can drop you two off at the airport if you want. It's no trouble."
Rin immediately turned red, clearly flustered by his offer. "Uh, no—no thanks!" she stammered, her usual snappy attitude conspicuously absent.
She quickly turned on her heel and began walking toward the street, Aoi following closely behind.
David chuckled softly to himself, watching as they left. Guess that natural prime charisma's already kicking in, he thought, amused.
After saying good bye to the leaving siblings he decided to take some time setting up some extra features for the next stream which would be an outdoor exploration one.
---
The night had been wild—with nothing to restraint them Kaede and him had lost all inhibitions.
Any walls or limits they'd built up just crumbled under the weight of pure desire.
The air was thick with heat, and all that mattered was them, venting pure lust.
Hours passed in a blur, their bodies moving in sync, and it felt like the world outside didn't exist.
Every touch, every kiss only fueled the fire between them, and for a while, nothing else mattered.
By the time the first light of dawn started creeping through the curtains, they were lying together, spent but at peace.
The intensity of the night faded into a quiet stillness, the kind that comes only after everything's been laid bare.
---
The next evening, David was sitting at a small table in Star-Gazer, a local coffee shop in Mustafa he'd practically lived in back in the day.
His addiction to coffee had made this place his go-to whenever he needed a pick-me-up, and even now, the rich, familiar smell of freshly brewed coffee brought a sense of calm.
It was the best spot in town, and honestly, he needed the comfort after last night.
He took a slow sip of his drink, the bitterness waking him up as he waited.
The shop was as he remembered—quiet, cozy, with the hum of the regulars coming and going.
But his mind wasn't on the coffee, not really.
He was waiting for Nana Shimura, and that had him on edge.
She'd messaged him out of the blue yesterday, asking to meet for lunch, and while he thought she'd forgotten about him, here he was.
Still, David wasn't scared—more curious, really.
The nervous energy in his gut was hard to ignore, though.
He wasn't used to being a target, but meeting Nana again wasn't something you did lightly.
He leaned back in his chair, sipping his coffee. Whatever happens, at least I've got a good brew to keep me sane.
Now, it was just a waiting game.
---
Nana arrived, a little late but looking effortlessly put together as always. "Sorry I'm late," she said with a soft chuckle, brushing some hair out of her face as she sat down.
David waved it off casually, his usual easy-going nature shining through.
"Don't worry about it," he said, smiling as he leaned back in his chair. "It gave me time to… catch up on some things."
What he didn't mention was that he'd spent most of the wait time practicing his technomancy from the Prime Spark.
With a little focus, he'd hacked into nearly every government mainframe in Japan.
Some of the things he found? Let's just say they were eyebrow-raising.
But that was a story for another day.
Nana smiled back, seemingly unaware of the subtle flex David had just made.
She looked at him for a moment, her expression softening. "I wanted to thank you, you know, for stepping up back then," she started, referring to an old incident.
David had jumped in to help her , even though she hadn't really needed it.
Still, the gesture had stuck with her.
David shrugged it off, his modesty kicking in. "Anyone would've done it and we'vehad this talk before"
But Nana shook her head slightly with a smile."Yeah you're right lets just have some lunch "
In reality, this was more than just a thank-you meeting for Nana.
There was something about David that intrigued her.
He ticked nearly all her boxes—handsome, logical, good-hearted, and willing to act when others would hesitate.
She didn't meet many men like that, not outside of her colleagues, and those she did weren't her type.
So, when she saw the chance to reconnect with him, she took it.
David, oblivious to the thoughts racing through Nana's head, sipped his coffee again, feeling a mix of calm and curiosity.
He had noticed her interest, though it wasn't something he was used to processing so directly.
Still, something about this meeting felt different, like there was more to it than just a simple thank-you his prime brain could tell it.
Get it ? prime brain , david chuckled internally at his terribke joke.
David and Nana settled into the café and ordered some lunch their conversation flowed easily at first, the small talk typical of people getting to know each other.
Then Nana's eyes fell on the wallet he placed on the table, its unmistakable blocky green and brown pixel pattern standing out.
"Wait… is that a Minecraft wallet?" Nana asked, raising an eyebrow and leaning in with a smirk.
David chuckled, slightly embarrassed but owning it. "Yeah, it is. Game's been around forever, hasn't it? I grew up with it."
One of the few things that surprised him was Minecraft's existence, Dvaid had to give the props to gen alpha that probably made the survival possible.
Nana's smile widened. "You're telling me. I've been playing it since forever too. It's kind of funny that it's still popular after all these years."
David blinked, a little surprised. "You? Minecraft? I didn't think heroes had much time for games."
"Surprise, surprise," she replied, laughing softly.
"When I'm not out saving people or training, I spend my free time mining for diamonds or building ridiculous things like giant floating islands. Minecraft's the perfect vanilla escape after a long day of fighting villains."
"Wow, that's unexpected, but honestly, I love it," David admitted.
Intruged by the idea of a gamer girl hero, "I've put in way too many hours on that game too. It's the one thing that just never gets old."
The two of them launched into an animated conversation about their shared love for Minecraft.
Which is quite weird.
Nana revealed how she'd once spent weeks constructing a sprawling sky fortress, complete with waterfalls and hidden redstone mechanisms.
David couldn't help but be impressed given he wasn't that serious in playing.
"Okay, that's awesome," he said. "I gotta see that. The best I've done is maybe a giant mansion… and that's with the back unfinished."
Nana laughed, her eyes brightening. "The unfinished back is a classic. I feel like everyone's got a build they just never finish."
"I know, right?" David replied, shaking his head. "There's always that one project. "
David was happy knowing that minecraft still had popularity in all generations, it wasn't the same game he grew up with but it was the only peice of media of his era still widely loved.
Yeah, those gen alpha kids were onto something. Honestly, the game's a legend now. I still can't get over how much new content they keep adding.
They exchanged stories about in-game disasters too—Nana once got cornered by a horde of creepers while trying to finish a particularly tricky underground base, while David had lost a full inventory of diamond gear after being killed by a villager when he went afk.
"You'd think after all these years, I'd know better than to dig straight down," David said with a laugh, shaking his head. "But nope."
"Classic," Nana replied, grinning. "I've lost count of how many times I've done that."
Their banter shifted naturally from games to fitness when David casually mentioned how gaming often served as his reward after hitting the gym.
"You lift?" Nana asked, her interest clearly piqued.
"Yeah, been working out for a while now," David answered.
"I mean, it's a great way to clear my head. There's something about hitting the weights that just makes everything better."
Nana nodded in agreement. "Exactly. I hit the gym whenever I can. It's kind of my way to unwind when gaming doesn't do the trick. There's nothing like the feeling after a good workout."
They swapped gym routines, comparing notes on their favorite exercises.
David liked heavy lifting and focusing on strength training, while Nana was more into a balanced approach—endurance, speed, and strength, given her hero duties and already enhanced strength.
"You ever do deadlifts?" David asked.
"All the time," Nana replied. "There's something satisfying about lifting something heavy off the ground. And don't even get me started on squats."
"Okay, now we're talking," David laughed. "I can respect that. Squats are brutal, but worth it."
"Brutal, yes. Worth it, definitely," Nana agreed, taking a sip of her coffee.
The easy camaraderie between them was refreshing, a mix of shared interests in gaming and fitness that made their conversation feel more natural than the small talk.
David was pleasantly surprised by how quickly they had bonded.
"Who knew?" David said, leaning back in his chair. "The legendary hero Nana Shimura's a gamer and a gym rat."
"Hey, I contain multitudes," she teased, flashing him a playful grin. "Besides, you're not so bad yourself, David. I wasn't expecting this either, but it's nice. Not often I can geek out about gaming or talk deadlifts."
David smiled, feeling like this unexpected connection was something he didn't realize he needed.
He had found a perfect friend.
