MHA: The Hero With the Sun (HIATUS)

Chapter 7: Chapter 6: Rising Tensions and the Start of Something New

The aftermath of the USJ attack hung over Class 1-A like a shadow. For many, the event had been their first real taste of the dangers that came with the path they had chosen. But while fear lingered, so did determination. The attack had galvanized the students, pushing them to grow stronger and reaffirm their resolve to become heroes.

The Fallout from USJ

In the days following the attack, U.A. was abuzz with activity. Teachers, staff, and even government officials were frequently seen moving through the halls, ensuring the school was secure. For Class 1-A, the atmosphere was tense but charged with resolve.

Kenji Saito sat in his usual seat, arms crossed, as Aizawa addressed the class. Despite his injuries, the homeroom teacher stood tall, his voice steady as he gave them a critical reminder.

"You all survived an unprecedented situation. That's not something to take lightly. However, survival alone isn't enough. The attack on the USJ proved that villains are becoming bolder. If you want to be heroes, you must prepare for the possibility that this was only the beginning."

Kenji's jaw tightened. He remembered the chaos at the USJ—the fear, the helplessness. His Quirk, Solar Core, had helped protect his classmates, but it wasn't enough. He needed to become stronger.

Momo Yaoyorozu, sitting beside him, raised her hand. "Mr. Aizawa, what steps will the school take to ensure our safety during training?"

Aizawa gave a nod of approval. "U.A. is enhancing its security measures, and we're doubling down on practical training. This leads me to our next topic."

The class leaned forward, their attention sharp.

"The U.A. Sports Festival is coming up."

The U.A. Sports Festival Announcement

The mention of the Sports Festival sent a ripple of excitement through the room.

"It's an opportunity to showcase your abilities," Aizawa continued. "Pro heroes from all over Japan will be watching. For some of you, this will be the first step toward earning internships. Take this seriously."

Kenji exchanged a glance with Momo, who seemed just as eager. This was their chance to prove themselves—not just to the pro heroes, but to themselves.

"The Sports Festival begins in two weeks," Aizawa added. "Use that time to train, recover, and prepare. I expect nothing less than your best."

The Stir Among the Students

News of the Sports Festival spread quickly throughout the school. The other classes, already aware of Class 1-A's involvement in the USJ attack, were abuzz with speculation and rivalry.

Walking through the hallways, Kenji could feel the stares of students from the general and support courses. Whispers followed him everywhere.

"They're the ones who got attacked by villains, right?"

"Class 1-A thinks they're so special now."

Kenji's patience wore thin when he overheard a particularly loud comment.

"They're probably not even that strong. The villains didn't finish the job because the teachers showed up."

Kenji turned sharply, his amber eyes blazing with intensity. The group of students froze under his glare.

"Say what you want about us," Kenji said, his voice calm but laced with an edge, "but we faced something you can't even imagine. Instead of running your mouths, maybe focus on improving yourselves."

The students shrank back, muttering apologies before scurrying off.

Momo approached him, her expression a mix of concern and admiration. "That was bold of you, Kenji. But you didn't have to stoop to their level."

Kenji sighed, rubbing the back of his neck. "Maybe not, but I'm not going to let them disrespect what we went through."

She smiled faintly. "Fair enough. Just don't let them get to you."

Two Weeks of Training

Determined to make the most of the two-week break, Kenji crafted a rigorous training schedule for himself. He focused on refining his Quirk, pushing his endurance, and developing new techniques.

Mornings were spent practicing Sunflare, experimenting with the intensity and range of his light bursts. By gradually increasing the duration of his flashes, he hoped to disorient opponents longer and create openings for counterattacks.

Afternoons were dedicated to physical training. Kenji ran laps, lifted weights, and practiced combat drills to improve his speed and agility. He knew that raw power alone wouldn't be enough in the Sports Festival.

Evenings were for strategy. Kenji spent hours analyzing footage of past Sports Festivals, studying how different quirks were utilized. He took detailed notes, occasionally consulting with Momo, who was more than willing to lend her insights.

One evening, as they reviewed a match between a former U.A. student and a pro hero, Momo turned to him.

"You've been pushing yourself hard, Kenji. Don't forget to rest."

"I'll rest when I've earned it," Kenji replied with a grin. "Besides, you're not exactly taking it easy either."

Momo laughed softly. "True. But balance is important."

Her words stuck with him, and he decided to incorporate more downtime into his routine, spending a few evenings chatting with classmates or reading hero biographies.

The Day Before the Festival

On the final day of the break, Kenji stood on U.A.'s training field, the setting sun casting a warm glow over the school. He took a deep breath, feeling the familiar warmth of his Quirk pulsing through him.

"Ready for tomorrow?"

He turned to see Momo walking toward him, her expression confident but kind.

"As ready as I'll ever be," Kenji replied. "How about you?"

She nodded. "I think so. But remember, the Sports Festival isn't just about winning. It's about showing who we are as heroes."

Kenji smiled. "Then let's show them what Class 1-A is made of."

As they stood together, the weight of the past weeks seemed to lift, replaced by a shared determination. The Sports Festival awaited, and with it, a chance to shine.
