MHA: THE HUMAN TORCH

Chapter 1: Chapter 1: A Spark

Chapter 1: A Spark

The first thing Harue Dai remembered about his new life was the swirl of lights and sounds—so loud and overwhelming he couldn't make sense of it. One moment, he'd been a regular teenager walking home from school thinking about what his mom made for dinner, the next, he woke up staring at an unfamiliar ceiling, trapped in the body of a infant.

He blinked, trying to focus. His vision was distorted, blurry at the edges, as if he were peering through thick glass. He turned his head, struggling to make sense of his surroundings. A stuffed bear stared back at him from the corner of the crib, its stitched smile oddly foreboding. Crib. That word struck him like thunder.

As he was trying his best not to panic,

It didn't take long for him to figure out what had happened. He'd been reincarnated.

'No. This isn't right.'

His mind raced, memories coming back from his jumbled head.

He was a perfectly normal teenager who had his whole life ahead of him, he was doing good at school, he had a good family and a couple of friends.

'Why… why me!!?'

As he was coming to terms with his new reality, he heard a door creak open, and a figure appeared—a woman with soft eyes and an expression of tender adoration. She leaned over the crib, and her voice was warm, soothing. "There you are, my little harue," she cooed.

As the woman lifted him from the crib, Harue felt an overwhelming sense of vulnerability. Her hands were gentle but firm, cradling him with practiced ease. His body responded instinctively, nestling against her chest, even as his mind screamed in protest. This was wrong—utterly, impossibly wrong.

(Time skip)

As so four years passed by in a blink.

During these four years he'd hear names like All Might and Endeavor in casual conversations. His dad would sometimes chat about hero agencies like other people talked about their favorite sports teams. It hit him one day as he lay in his crib: this was the world of My Hero Academia.

During this time, Harue quietly adjusted to his strange, new life. His parents, Akio and Reina Dai, were loving and supportive, always making sure their little family was happy. Akio worked a regular office job and had a simple quirk—he could make his skin glow faintly, like a human flashlight. Reina stayed home, using her minor fire quirk trying to juggle chores and entertain Harue. She could only make a small flame, but it came in handy when she wanted to heat up food or her favourite chocolate milk.

Neither of his parents were hero's, but Harue didn't mind. They were kind, hardworking, and totally devoted to their son. To him, they were exactly what parents were supposed to be.

Though it was hard to accept them as his true parents when he already lived a life with his other family.

Still, He couldn't shake the memories of his past life. Sometimes he acted a little too grown-up—using words a kid his age shouldn't know or sitting quietly, lost in thought, while his dad gave lectures about responsibility. His parents just called him a "smart little guy," and Harue leaned into that image. Being an ordinary, well-behaved kid seemed like the best way to avoid suspicion.

And so the day of his fourth birthday came. The day started out perfect. His parents threw a small celebration, inviting a few family friends over for cake and presents. They even got him a shiny new toy airplane, which Harue pretended to be more excited about than he actually was. Watching his parents smile with pride, he felt a rare sense of peace in this new life.

Later that evening, Harue sat outside on the porch, watching the sky turn orange and pink as the sun set.

"When is my quirk gonna awaken?" I thought.

I was a little nervous, in this world quirkless people are not treated that good, they get discriminated and are at a disadvantage at every aspect of society, from finding jobs to getting accepted to university, to even finding a partner.

' I guess people don't want to decrease the chances of their children having quirks.'

As a I was thinking a strange feeling crept into my chest—a faint warmth that buzzed faintly, like static electricity. At first, i thought it was nothing, maybe just excitement from the day.

But the warmth kept growing, spreading through his body like wildfire.

"What… what's happening?" I screamed , clutching my chest. The heat surged, and suddenly my right hand lit up in flames.

Harue gasped, staring at his burning hand in shock. The fire was alive, dancing across his skin—but it didn't hurt.

"Harue?" his mom's voice called from inside the house.

Before he could answer, the door slammed open. Akio and Reina rushed out, eyes wide in panic. Reina's quickly grabbed him from the porch while Akio grabbed the garden hose, ready to spray.

"No, wait!" Harue shouted, his voice shaking. "I'm fine! I'm not hurt!"

Reina froze mid-step, staring at him in disbelief. "The flames… they're not burning you?"

Harue shook his head, staring at the fire. Slowly, he concentrated, willing the flames to go away. To his surprise, they did, fading out like they'd never been there. His hand looked completely normal again.

Silence filled the air as his parents processed what they'd just seen. Akio finally lowered the hose and let out a shaky laugh. "Well," he said, rubbing the back of his neck. "That's… quite a quirk you've got there, kid."

Harue tried to smile, but his heart was racing. "Yeah," he said nervously. "I guess it is."

Inside, though, his mind was spinning. I've got fire powers.

For the first time since he'd arrived in this world, Harue felt a rush of excitement. His life here wasn't going to be ordinary. It couldn't be. As he flexed his fingers, still feeling the heat from the flames.

Maybe I can make a difference in this world.
