Chapter 95: 95. Echoes Of The Past II
" What do you mean Nee-san " she asked back in the same bland tone.
" Saya... it's just you have never been the same after what happened, Do you think Itsuki would wan- "
" Nee-san!.... P-Please.... j-just don't "
A sigh was heard from the other side "Saya .... Nee-san knows you are hurting, but please for yourself, for me..... or at least for him ....please take care of yourself "
Saya didn't reply as her eyes were a little misty.
Seeing no response the person on the other end just sighed and said " Take care, I'll check up on you later "
*Beep*
The sound of the call being hanged was heard through the receiver but Saya was out of it for a few moments before she put her phone back and wiped her eyes.
Saya gazed at the pendant on her neck and reached out to hold it gently. She held it in front of her eyes for a few moments and gently opened it and an image was visible inside.
Saya's cold face had a hint of a smile as she gazed deeply at the picture inside while her eyes contained a myriad of emotions.
The Image was of a beautiful purple-haired girl with a bright smile hugging the arm of a black-haired young man who also had a smile on his face. She looked the happiest in that picture.
Saya gazed at the image with a sad smile, her current smile was completely different from the one she had at that time, how could she not be happy when the reason for her happiness was him....

" Damn it!" Pakura cursed as she deflected a Kunai that was thrown at her.
Who would have thought the peace treaty was just a trap, a trap to kill her?
But even if they sent all of these people to kill her it was impossible, because if she couldn't beat them then she could still escape but the problem was her companions.
If she escaped then her fellow Suna shinobi and her disciple Maki would definitely be in danger thus she could only stay and hold back the enemy.
Looking at the corpses around her, she seemed to have killed a lot but they were just some canon fodder Jonins or Chunins. The whole battlefield is covered by mist and the real hard hitters were hiding, biding their time, waiting for her to exhaust her chakra on these scrubs.
But Pakura won't commit such an amateur mistake, thus she has been using some small wind release techniques along with exploding tags and her ninja tools to fight the enemies.
The constant mist prevailing in the area, lowering her vision had made the battle much more deadly.
But if they thought this was enough to do her in, then they were in for a rude awakening...
.....
" Haah .....Haah" Pakura was breathing heavily as she gazed at the enemy shinobi who were surrounding her.
Pakura smiled bitterly as she gazed at the bloodthirsty smiles and the lustful leers thrown her way, she never expected the situation would have come to this.
The reason for her current predicament was .... poison. She was poisoned and it was the slow-acting type, the only way she could imagine herself being poisoned was through food and the food was prepared by her allies.
As if a veil was lifted, everything started making sense to her. The difficulties she faced in the past few months, the support towards her becoming Kazekage, Rasa's unkind gaze, her whereabouts being leaked when she was on a mission, being assigned to do multiple dangerous missions back to back, the rank of missions being mistaken, the sudden peace treaty with Kirigakure, a village so far away from Sunagakure that it won't have much use to them.
First of all, when was a peace treaty so important, didn't Kumo tear up their agreement with Konoha over a flimsy reason and attack them? Then what was preventing Kiri from doing the same to their poor Suna?
And she was especially sent here to show their sincerity, do villages send out their top combat powers to negotiate peace treaties? What would happen if the other side set up ambushes?
Isn't that what their Suna did to Konoha?
Thinking about all of this Pakura felt bitter, the pain of betrayal was a bit too much. She had worked all her life for the betterment of the village and this is how they repay their 'Hero'?
Even thinking about the title of 'Sunagakure's Hero' made Pakura feel nauseous, and hatred started brewing deep within her.
But Pakura also felt a chill when she thought about Maki, what would happen to her? Will the Higherups deal with her to tie up all loose strings.
No! She can't die here, she needs to help Maki. Pakura no longer trusted her own village shinobi after what they did to her, she didn't find it beneath them to kill Maki.
But her body wouldn't move and gazing at the shinobi around her Pakura knew her best fate would be death and worst she would be used as a plaything. She knew the hatred the Kiri shinobi had towards bloodline shinobi and they would surely torture her in every way possible to satisfy their vanity and hatred.
Pakura had a bitter smile on her face as she decided to end her life.
'Sorry Maki'
Her eyes became a little misty as her whole life started flashing before her eyes as she held Kunai to her throat, but the most memorable and cherished memories were of 'him'
'Will he be sad?' Pakura couldn't help but think when she thought of him, even if he was annoying she was glad that she met him.
Because though it was one-sided she was able to experience love.
Pakura finally smiled a little beautifully as she stabbed Kunai in her throat.
