Chapter 253: Chapter 253. The Overworld is in danger
After I finished reading everything, I had to sit down and let out a loud sigh.
"The problems keep popping one after another."
What I read was the origin of the System.
It seems to be created by something called 'The True God' that sends devices like the System to the worlds that are about to have a tragic end to help it.
There isn't a lot of Information about The True God, and the System does not even require to keep contact with it, since this God would know what happened and will ever happen.
Now, that wasn't part of my concern, since this God seems like a good guy.
What I read afterward was more shocking.
The world without the System was a whole mess, and there wouldn't be any intelligent creatures if it weren't for the System.
Now the System was sent here with one purpose, and that was to help this planet grow strong enough to defend itself against any world-ending threat.
The System had 2 important rules.
1. Grow the planet stronger by any means necessary, as long as it won't destroy it in the long run.
2. Don't get rid of the threat yourself unless it's absolutely necessary.
Now, the System chose to create sentient life to progress this planet, but it moved too slowly, and the Void came when the world was not ready for a threat to this level.
So, it chose to fight the problem itself.
Now this resulted in the System denying the second rule.
And there were consequences for that.
From that moment, the System couldn't interfere directly anymore, that's why it called for the heroes since it saw that the Void was getting ready for another attack.
But this only resulted in the Void having the ability to send the Monster Lords creating another problem.
Mistakes after mistakes kept happening, and the System began to lose control.
It carefully tried to gather energy for one last fight against the Void by raising the level of difficulty, which would stun the human growth but would give the System a chance for one final push.
I couldn't even blame the System for making this choice since the humans showed that they weren't to be trusted, and the final goal was the world to save, not humanity alone.
But the plan with the heroes failed, they grew too slowly for the System's liking, and the Monster Lords were too strong.
The System didn't know what to do any more until I entered the picture.
While I was ignored for a while since I was brought by Noah to probably make a mess.
The fact that I found a small God, which was hidden from it, and even created one of my own, made the System rethink.
I couldn't be a part of Noah grant plan, since I was too much of a wild card, so it saw me as a key to ending this once and for all.
It was more of a gamble than a logical decision.
The System knew its limits, so it decided to entrust all of this to me.
Of course, it didn't do this blindly but split into the people that didn't have its full memory, making it not restricted by the rules.
So now, the huge command block that was in front of us was a battery that the System couldn't use for the past few hundred years.
The good news was that Steve and Alex had full access to it, they only needed to learn how to control it.
The bad news was that the world was slowly dying.
When the System put intelligence into humans, it didn't affect only humanity but the world as well.
Before the System, this world was similar to the game, actually worse since the villagers weren't smart enough to trade or build things.
There was no inventory or Crafting tables, nothing that could've prepared the world for the upcoming disaster.
Every major change was maintained by the System, and now that it was gone, the world would slowly bring itself back to its previous state.
Which would mean the end of all I know and care about.
"How, long will it take to have some noticeable effects?"
"It would take 5 years for the people to realize that something is wrong and 10 when everything would be back to the beginning. The only things that would be a reminder of the past, will be the structures made with blocks unaffected by time."
This is just a bad day after another.
Even if we defeat the Ender Dragon, the world would still end!
Steve and Alex are indeed part part of the System, but they can't replace it anymore. Otherwise, the System couldn't create them to bypass the restriction.
And I can guarantee we can't recreate something a True God created in just 5 years.
"This only gave me more headaches, I want a vacation!"
"As much as I want to join you Trader, we need to start training."
Alex was there to put down my spirits.
"Well, I guess I should start building my new body then. Good thing that the command block has so much energy, otherwise it would've taken an eternity to create something on the surface."
I got up and prepared to place a crystal down, only to realize that I didn't have the Enderchest with me, so I didn't have the Crystals.
"Well shoot, I don't have the equipment with me. Do you know how to get out of here? I don't see a staircase."
"Unfortunately, the only way you can get out is through teleportation or by flying the way we came in. But the good news is that we can make anything you want down here, so there's no need to leave this place."
Well, that was convenient and annoying.
I have to get straight to work after 2 months of working nonstop and barely getting some sleep.
I didn't even get the chance to find out what happened while I was gone.
Wait a minute, Alex and Steve were there all this time, so I could ask them!
"Wouldn't it be more efficient to make you a new body that you can use against the Dragon? Actually, can't we make more maces like yours to fight against the Dragon?"
Steve spoke before I could ask my question.
"Sorry guys, I got into this mess because someone else controlled my body. And while you 2 are more trustful than Noah, this is only the second time I've met you. As for your second question, you shouldn't ask me in the first place."
Alex looked hurt that I accused them of being untrustworthy.
But I didn't have a choice, I knew next to nothing about them or their intentions.
I know they're part of the System, and now I know the true purpose of the System. But those 2 were specifically made to be different, more human...and that's not always a good thing.
"We can't make the same weapon as the mace, since that tool alone took half of our reserves. Instead, we could make some powerful enchantments that would boost the strength of our army. Not only that, but we can make new bodies for them as well, so that would be a good project to start on."
Oh wow, they move fast with the ideas.
If we can make weapons similar to the ones Daniel had at the beginning, the army's strength will grow exponentially!
And if they make bodies like the iron golems, it would be even better.
"That is a good idea. But we would waste so much energy on that."
"What's the point of hoarding energy if the world is going to end in one year, or at most in 10?"
She got a point.
"Trader, how about we compromise on something. I'm guessing you don't trust us to make a body that you'll use in the final battle, if I'm right?"
"I guess that's true...why, for you ask?"
"What If we make a body that you can use to train yourself, and if you're satisfied with it, we can give you the blueprints to make it on your own! That way, it would register to you, and at the same time, we would not waste a lot of time for you to learn how to use the Crystal."
That sounded so wrong, but there was no downside I could think of.
It would actually benefit all parties involved if we worked like this.
"Do you think you can make me a body that can hold the godhood from the command block?"
Steve and Alex thought for a while.
"It would be hard, but I guess we'll have to aim for at least that level, if we want to stand a chance against the Void."
"That sounds like a plan. Let's get to work then."
"I'm glad to hear that! I already had an idea in mind."
Alex quickly spoke like a kid who was about to play her favorite game.
She touched the command block, and Steve let out a big sigh before joining her as well.
A few minutes later, I could see in front of me how an exact copy of my body was being made, which was quite a unique experience.
Once they were done, Alex turned around and looked at me with a proud smile, which made me raise an eyebrow.
"Aren't you supposed to know the shape of my soul before creating this?"
Alex froze on the spot and slapped her forehead in embarrassment.
"I knew I forgot something! Steve, why didn't you tell me anything?"
"I tried, but you ran off before I could speak."
She let out a frustrated sigh and looked at me.
"You don't have the armor anymore, so it should be easy. Sorry Trader, it won't hurt at all."
"Wha-"
Suddenly I felt something pulling me, and I could see my body falling to the ground while I was floating in the air.
"Oh wow, you truly came from another world. You look so different...why do you even look like that? Where are the edges? And you have a small nose, and wierd eyes."
"Alex! Put me back this instant, or I'll be very angry!"
"Okay, you don't need to be angry. Steve got your shape, so we should be good."
In the next instant, I was lying on the ground, feeling drowsy at what just happened.
I don't remember them being so daring.
I swear, every being that had some power seemed to take consent as a suggestion instead of a requirement.
At least this time, my arm wasn't ripped off.
As I was moving my arms and legs to get back the feeling of normalcy, I saw how my double was getting disintegrated right in front of my eyes.
It was an unsettling sight to say the least.
I waited for a few more moments, and another clone of me was created.
But this time, I wore my special glasses and was able to see the whole process, which was quite insightful to see.
It seems that the 2 of them work as one brain.
One has the job of creating the body, while the other is working on the soul room.
Once the 2 of them are finished, they combined their ideas with ease and the body is formed.
"Ok, this time it should work."
I then saw a golden hand aperead above Alex and was about to reach me.
"Oh no you don't!"
Then I quickly made a golden dome that managed to block the hand.
"Why are you stoping me Trader? I was just about to squeeze into your new body."
"Have you not heard about a heads up woman?! Why do you take my soul out of the body so easily? Do you think I'm a toy for you?"
I was quite angry at how they treated me, and if she didn't fix that attitude, I wouldn't work with them anymore.
Suddenly she slapped her head as a realisation dawned on her.
"I'm sorry Trader, I was just so exited to try something as amazing as this, that I forgat about basic manners. I promise that I won't do it again."
Well at least she knows how to apologise unlike a certain hero.
"Ok, I'll forgive you. But first tell me what you made."
Alex smiled brightly.
