Chapter 21: I feel Like I should've died

In a long distance run the first rule you needed to know is to pace yourself, make a rhythm which your body follows and make it so that it becomes a constant, like the beats in a song, your footsteps have to be equidistant to each other.

This applied the same for parkour and sprinting albeit in different ways.

'The Creators of this rule definitely didn't expect it to be put in this situation.'

What is this situation you may ask?

Well when answered with blood and guts your mouth would be wide open right? You should probably close it unless you want guts in your mouth.

Using the head of an undead archer as my platform I pushed down on its magically bound together body and ran away from the ensuing horde.

Kicking at my enemies I felt a pinch in my ankle as I distinctly heard the sound of something tearing.

But could I stop just because I tore something? Although I would like to, this was quite literally a life and death situation.

Eyes scanning the distant walls, turning back to the previous area wasn't an option as they could probably just follow closely behind, and since it was guarded by some new enemy I had no prior information about.

And since there wasn't anything scarier than the unknown I was just going to place that information onto the back burner.

'I hate you with a passion Cherry.'

Cursing the brown haired lady from my memories who handed the very same insignia that the Elite Zombie carried in their palms I instantly slid against the ground to dodge another red insect trying to slice off my face.

Colliding against the knees of a zombie, I grabbed their skinny body and used it as a crutch to get up, tossing them to the ground where they were stomped on by a shield bearer.

'Just what I needed.'

Rushing to the Shieldbearer the Undead Archers took aim at my running body and fired at my body.

But I wasn't just going to stay still and be their unwilling target.

Kicking against the shieldbearer's raised shield it tried to fling me off of itself, just what I was aiming for.

icking off of its raised shield arrows thudded into its exposed body killing it instantly as I flew through the air.

The problem of flying in the air is that unless you have a way to fly through the air, you were nothing more than a very predictable but fast target in the air.

The thing is, despite my ground walker heritage I developed a way to fly.

'Just a very painful one.'

Stabbing the tonic into my hands the grenade I had unpinned earlier instantly exploded into a rain of fire and shrapnel.

Slicing into my body and that of the flying red beans, the tonic's healing properties instantly healed the produced wounds pushing out the metal shards embedded into my flesh while tearing apart the red flying bean shaped scythe wielders.

Feeling both the strength of the tonic flowing through my veins and the pain that accompanied the explosion, arrows flasheed past the area I was previously in a purple bolt mixed in amongst the horde of projectiles.

'Good, it wasted its bolt.'

Now knowing that the white robe had at least five seconds before they fired off another bolt that tore through everything in its path before disappearing it was a five second window where I didn't have to worry about a teleporting enemy that could appear from out of nowhere.

Now putting the teleporting red horned being into the back of my mind, I crashed into the bodies of zombies.

Hurriedly punching the face of the zombie aiming to bite down onto my white flesh I felt a sudden heat emanate from the blaze tattoos carved into my body, a signal that the blaze rune was a ctivating for reason beyond me.

I certainly didn't have a weapon, and just as I was trying to understand why it was activating my hands suddenly burst into a flame that scorched their faces off.

'I didn't know I could do that but I'll take it.'

Swiftly adapting to the sudden knowledge I could apply the powers of the runes directly onto my body I twisted my body and released a flame filled kick into the soft spines of undead.

Well in the case of the undead archers it was more bone than flesh but you get the point.

Burning them unalive I t3wisted my body around and used their charred corpses as my following platforms.

Glancing at the flying red pills I grabbed their skulls before they could split to reveal their inner scythe and used the power of their wings to toss me through the air.

Tossing the Sinew Slicer and allowing it to chop up some more sinews before it could be destroyed I soon abandoned it to the horde and swept between their limbs

Jumping up to dodge their little jaws I kicked, I punched, I ran, I slid.

Get up, duck, kick, sweep, hand stand, push, bomb move, tonic, flames, punch, vault, vine rune, throw wooden chips.

Scanning my surroundings I felt my heart leap into my throat as the pair of eyes within my eyes continually bounced at my surroundings.

Enemies behind, enemies ahead, and enemies above, the only thing I could see for several meters were enemies, it wasn't to the point where every movement that they made interfered with one another but it definitely was to the point where it wasn't possible to see through the horde.

But, because of the fact that there were so many of them, I was able to realize that the number of enemies ahead was much less than that of the enemies behind and above.

Which made sense since the enemies above could follow me much easier than the ones I had used as unwilling platforms.

Everything became a blur from that point on.

Arrows thudded into my backside, but since they weren't a particular hindrance more so they were a literal pain in the ass I ignored them.

Shoulder blades grinding against the metal heads I tensed my muscles and leapt through the air once again.

'Boom.'

Preparing to drug myself once again, flames coated my lower body as I kicked at the shield bearer, preparing to do a very suicidal moveset one final time as I neared the edge of this unceasing horde of undead.

'Just how many undead are there!?'

Feeling extremely angry at the unfair amount of undead I guess now was the worst time to not pay attention to my surroundings.

'Now to dru-!?'

Purple lightning crackled at the edges of my vision as pain suddenly assaulted my hand.

The very hand holding the tonic within it.

'...Shit.'

I guess that was the point where they were starting to get used to me.

'But I have other things besides that tonic!'

Instantly abandoning the bloody scorched hand colored black by the purple bolt of thunder magic, I instantly adapted to the situation and pulled out the magical orange colored and flavored cure all.

'Thank you Guillian.'

Making a mind to save all of the materials I had gained right now to be given to Guillian I moved to drink the orange elixir.

*Crack!

'!'

Eyes widening, glass crackled around my unwounded hands as I strenuously turned my eyes to the white robed figures hidden amongst the chaotically surging undead tide.

Yes, figures.

At some point in time, one of the white robed figures accompanying the Elite zombie had abandoned their post to come after me.

'Well that's just not fair.'

Feeling another purple bolt blast against my forehead as I was blankly staring at the third white figure that unleashed the purple ball held within its shoulder mounted horns, the last thing I felt was something wrapping around my waist.

The next thing I knew? I was set atop a pile of rags feeling as if someone had used my bag as a punching bag before being run over by a truck, several of them actually.

In more terse words I felt like shit.

"Ugh!"

Feeling a piercing pain shoot up my spine as I tried to get up, I relinquished control of my body and laid dead against the ground feeling as if the world had just had their way with my body.

But in that sense of immense soreness and pain there was a question.

"How in the Seven Hells did I escape? I feel like I should've died."

And just as there existed the problems known as a question, there was a solution in the form of an answer.

"I can answer your questions."
