Chapter 687 Zhuge Liang Meeting
687 Zhuge Liang Meeting
Meanwhile, the Axis leaders, such as the president of the Korean Republic, the leader of the Ming Federation, The Sultan of the Sultanate of Aqaba, and old man Mori from Japan seemed as jubilant as if they had won the grand prize in a national lottery.
The discussions also touched upon supernatural forces. Magic had become a common topic, as the appearance of Hell's Gate and the mountain of demonic corpses outside it provided undeniable evidence.
Even the High Tower could no longer deny the reality of magic. Around the world, both in Allied and Axis countries, people were abuzz with excitement about the prospect of magic and the supernatural world.
As for the High Tower itself, it remained suspiciously silent on the matter. Moreover, many of the mage families that once supported the High Tower had abandoned it.
Only a few families stayed behind, primarily because the High Tower had borrowed significant resources from them during the war. These families couldn't afford to "jump ship" without some substantial return on their investment.
Thus, they stayed, not out of loyalty, but to recover what they had already poured into the war effort.
The negotiations lasted several days before finally concluding. The resulting peace treaty, known as "The Treaty of New Atlantis," was signed by all parties.
The treaty stipulated that all nations must disarm their nuclear weapons and redirect their efforts toward researching and developing spacefaring and extraplanetary colonization technologies, with New Atlantis offering its assistance in these endeavors.
Of course, the aid provided by New Atlantis did not come cheap. Countries lacking advanced technology were required to contribute monetary or material resources to compensate for the large-scale space program development.
This was especially true for the nations that had lost the war. Yes, especially the nations that lost the war since this is part of their war remuneration, so their rate is different from that of other countries.
The leaders of these countries argued fiercely. Despite their defeat, they still wanted access to New Atlantis' technology without paying much. This dragged the negotiations on for several days, with only this single issue.
Eventually, Daniel lost his patience, and he arranged a secret meeting with the leaders and showed them something extraordinary.
When the leaders returned from this secret meeting, they unanimously agreed to New Atlantis' terms. Their faces were pale, and they appeared deeply disturbed by whatever it was they had witnessed.
As for Hell's Gate, it had been destroyed, but this gate was created through a powerful ritual that consumed millions of souls with the objective of tearing a permanent hole in the fabric of reality between the Abyssal Realm and the Mortal Realm.
The result was that, even after the gate's destruction, a small rift permanently formed at the site. This rift now serves as a connection between Lucifer's Abyssal Realm and the Mortal Realm.
Through this rift, small and weak demons with excellent survival abilities who manage to survive Daniel's apocalypse spell occasionally manage to enter the world. However, these demons are swiftly captured by the forces stationed there to guard the rift.
The negotiations designated the area around the rift as a jointly managed zone under the authority of the newly formed UN. However, the primary responsibility for guarding the rift fell to New Atlantis, as they were the only ones equipped with the knowledge and resources to deal with the demons.
During the negotiations, the New UN was also established. Its primary members include New Atlantis, Korea, Japan, the Ming Federation, and the Sultanate of Aqaba. Meanwhile, the former main members of the old UN were relegated to ordinary member status, losing their founding member privileges as a consequence of their defeat in the war.
Once the negotiations concluded, the leaders hastily returned to their respective countries as though their seats were on fire. Only a few nations chose to remain, primarily those with strong ties to New Atlantis and those who had been on the winning side of the war.
— Elpis - Emberweave's Residence —
In the living room, Daniel had already returned to his home in Elpis.
"What did you show those greedy bastards?" Envy asked, referring to the politicians and leaders who had come to negotiate.
"Oh, nothing much. Do you want to see?" Daniel replied with a mischievous grin.
"Is it something that will keep me up at night?" she asked cautiously.
Daniel pursed his lips and gave a slight nod to the side.
"Sigh~" Envy let out a long, exasperated sigh. "Alright… let me see."
After that, Daniel took Envy to the observation station.
When Envy saw what Daniel wanted her to see and learned the details from Nexus Prime, she indeed lost her sleep that night.
What kind of messed-up development was this!? An alien invasion predicted to happen in about 10 years!? Weren't the problems with gods and demons already enough!?
The Hell's Gate had been destroyed, true, but the rift it left behind was still generating mana at an alarming rate. Worse, to prevent the Hell mana from corrupting the surrounding area, Daniel had to install a device to convert the Hell mana into a form that could integrate with the Mortal Realm.
As a result, the mana levels in the atmosphere were rising at an unprecedented pace. At this rate, gods might start manifesting within 6-7 years. And when that time came, it would bring a new wave of headaches, and then, just a few years later, the alien invasion would follow!
The next morning, Envy woke up with dark circles under her eyes, unable to get a single wink of sleep after learning such disturbing facts. She found herself in the kitchen, cooking breakfast for her family while still haunted by everything she had learned.
No! This couldn't be right! She couldn't be the only one among Daniel's women to know about this mess! Someone else needed to feel teh same as her!
As a result, the revelations deeply disturbed Koyuki, Greed, Tian Xingyun, Pride, Michaela, and even Maria. Only Penthesilea was spared from this unsettling information, as she was still pregnant, and Envy wasn't cruel enough to burden a pregnant woman with such news.
The women were alarmed, and many of them lost several nights of good sleep. Of course, the degree of disturbance varied. Greed was the most affected, as she had numerous businesses to manage and needed to revise many of her plans to focus on space exploration and defense development.
Tian Xingyun, on the other hand, was the least affected. Being the strongest and possessing the personality of a dominant conqueror, she saw the news as an opportunity rather than a threat.
The prospect of the existence of alien life meant new resources, advanced technologies, and a chance to test her strength against them. She wondered if the aliens would have strong individuals for her to challenge and defeat.
Daniel's life, meanwhile, returned to a peaceful routine. He enjoyed home-cooked meals from his family and spent time in his workshop preparing for various scenarios he might face. The world had settled into a tenuous peace, as no one dared to cause trouble for him or his family anymore.
But on one of these tranquil days, Guan Yu visited Daniel, accompanied by Zhuge Liang. Envy wasn't home, as she had traveled to New Atlantis to preside over matters concerning the Order of Ember, along with Pride and Michaela.
Daniel was unsure of the reason for their visit, as he had complete trust in Envy to handle magical organizational matters effectively.
"Oh, what brings you here?" Daniel asked Guan Yu and Zhuge Liang, who were seated in the living room, sipping tea. That day, only Tian Xingyun and Penthesilea were at home with him. Koyuki had returned to Japan for business. Penthesilea was resting in her room on the second floor, her belly visibly larger from her pregnancy.
"My Lord, this is Zhuge Liang. He asked me to bring him here, saying he has something important to discuss with you," Guan Yu explained, introducing Zhuge Liang. Guan Yu hoped that Zhuge Liang might also choose to serve the same lord as himself.
"Ah, Mr. Zhuge Liang, I've heard much about you. It's an honor to have you here. How may I assist you? Is there something you need?" Daniel asked politely.
Of course, Daniel knew from teh report that Zhuge Liang had worked for the Qing Empire before. Many of their strategies came from Zhuge Liang himself. Though these plans hadn't caused Daniel significant trouble, he was aware that their failure was largely due to his own technological superiority and Albert's efforts in counterintelligence.
If Zhuge Liang were to gain access to critical information, Daniel might have faced a far greater challenge.
"Lord Emberweave, may I speak with you privately?" Zhuge Liang asked.
"Guan Yu is one of my confidants, and Tian Xingyun is one of my wives. You may speak freely," Daniel replied.
"No, Lord Emberweave, this information is for your ears only." Zhuge Liang insists.
