Miracle Summoner

Chapter 2415: -2315- [ King ]

Uruk – The Divine Tower

At the very top of this structure was the royal chamber.

Led by Merlin, Rozen's group made their way there without obstruction.

In fact, Merlin's guidance wasn't even necessary.

Rozen's group wasn't the only one in the tower—countless priestesses and officials were rushing back and forth, creating a tense and urgent workplace atmosphere.

Clerks stood in line, each holding a clay tablet, waiting before a throne.

Seated upon that throne was a young king, clad in lavish, revealing garments, adorned with golden ornaments and armor, and wearing golden gauntlets. Everything about him radiated extravagance, opulence, and wastefulness.

On his head rested a cloth cap shaped like a crown, and his gem-like red eyes, paired with his stunningly handsome face, exuded such an overwhelming nobility that it made one instinctively want to bow—or kneel.

This king sat upon his throne, a clay tablet in hand, reading its recorded reports while issuing commands in a voice full of authority.

"The frontline's weapon stores are running low. Have the three Laham blacksmith families in the east increase production. By nightfall today, five hundred spears, twelve hundred arrows, and three hundred shields must be delivered. If they can't meet the quota, then bring in their fathers and uncles. They're old, but still master blacksmiths. They should be able to help catch up."

"Has the harvest season not arrived yet? I recall it's around this time. Move the emergency rations from the western gate's basement—yes, that batch that's just about to expire. I calculated the timing precisely; now's the moment to use them."

"The recruitment exams are starting soon, right? We're nearing the point where we can't hold out without fresh troops. Have the standards been lowered? Bring me the list… Hmm, thirty-seven applicants. That'll ease the urgency for now. But what's this—Mati applied? Isn't she a girl? And only ten years old? Which fool approved this? Think I'm an idiot? If we weren't short on clerks, I'd have had that moron executed! Remove her name immediately!"

"What is this? Who made this clay tablet? The order is all over the place! This reduces report efficiency by more than thirty percent. Reject it. Tell the secretary to follow the template I gave last time—the one used for student apologies in future human schools. It'll still be in use thousands of years from now! Haven't learned it yet? Then get on with it!"

"Those fools at the Temple of Priestesses are at it again—didn't I say this is a war humans must fight on their own? Stop trying to summon gods! Have they forgotten what kind of trouble they brought last time? Idiots! Order them to cease the ritual immediately—or I'll draw a mustache on the Ishtar statue in the sanctuary!"

One after another, the young king issued directives like these—at an astonishing speed.

It was clear how efficiently he processed affairs, and with what precision he delivered orders.

Rozen was stunned.

"Damn. This guy handles everything—domestic affairs to national survival—all by himself."

Good thing the population of this era's nations only numbered in the tens of thousands. If every king worked with this intensity, they'd all be dead from overwork.

No—at this rate, even this level of governance could lead to death by overwork.

"He really is humanity's oldest king…"

Mash was left in awe. Her initial shock had already transformed into deep respect.

At this point, it hardly needed stating.

The man on the throne was none other than Gilgamesh.

"This is the Gilgamesh who returned as a wise king."

Merlin stood beside Rozen and Mash, his tone unfazed by the incredible scene before them.

"He's cast off the aura and arrogance of the King of Heroes, awakened the divine blood of a Magus, and returned as an unparalleled wise ruler. Only this Gilgamesh could perform the miracle of Heroic Spirit Summoning and even possess the qualifications for a Grand Servant. If this disaster had struck back when he was still the King of Heroes, humanity might have been wiped out already."

The Gilgamesh of the King of Heroes era may have been much stronger, but he wouldn't have protected humanity or the nation from behind the scenes. He would've charged straight to the front lines as an unmatched warrior—and without a guiding figure, Sumer would've crumbled under the demonic beast army's onslaught.

Only the wise king Gilgamesh had the capability to unite all of humanity against this disaster.

Just as he himself had said—this was a war humanity had to face on its own.

Without someone to lead humanity, even the mightiest King of Heroes would have ultimately fallen before the Three Goddess Alliance, bringing about the extinction of mankind.

At that point, human history would've completely collapsed, and this Singularity would have become irreparable.

"That this era has survived until now is thanks to King Gilgamesh—there's no denying that," Merlin said, spreading his hands. "Now that you've finally met the king—what do you plan to do?"

What else?

Of course, they had to speak with him directly.

However…

"The king seems really busy… He hasn't even noticed us. Can we really just interrupt like this?"

Mash hesitated nervously.

It was true—now was hardly the time to butt in.

Gilgamesh hadn't even spared a glance toward them and continued issuing orders to the clerks.

"I know the frontline lacks soldiers, but the new recruits aren't ready. Sending them now would just feed them to the beasts. Instead, shift some of the eastern gate forces to the front. There should still be reserves over there…"

As Gilgamesh issued his instructions, still maintaining clarity despite the workload—

Rozen suddenly spoke up.

"No—the eastern gate might have reserves, but now's not the time to move them. A battle broke out there yesterday. The commander of the demonic beasts summoned forces to that sector. There should be a sizable concentration of beasts there now. They'll attack the east gate first. Instead of moving those troops, you should reassign some from the west gate where beast numbers are lower."

The moment Rozen spoke, the entire throne room fell silent.

"S-Senpai?"

Mash stared wide-eyed.

"Ho?"

Merlin sounded impressed.

"…"

Anna turned to look at Rozen.

Rozen, meanwhile, simply stared straight ahead—toward the throne.

All the clerks and officials were now looking their way in astonishment.

And on the throne, Gilgamesh finally paused.

The king slowly turned his head and looked over.

Their eyes met.

And in that instant, they both radiated a sharp brilliance.
