Miss Witch Doesn't Want to be a Diva

Chapter 101: Another Corner of the World_2

"Due to failure, many of the ruling powers were purged, and these giant enterprises were implicated."

"Without the pillars of core industries, the economy naturally keeps declining. Because of the economic weakness, it's difficult to gain a voice in the Central Council, as those politicians only speak for those who sponsor them generously."

"In the Southeastern Star Domain, even though the economy was struggling back then, due to contributions in the civil war, they were allocated new industries and given support for large enterprises, which helped maintain the local economy. The most typical example is the Four-leaf Crystal Star Domain, as the production base for the new fleet at the time, it stationed numerous military industrial enterprises, leading to rapid development during the war."

"Later, to express gratitude for the sacrifices made by the residents of these Star Domains, the Federation annually allocates funds to improve the local climate and mitigate the pollution and aftermath caused back then."

"But who ever thought, we in these Star Domains also contributed much to support the war back then, with many places facing environmental destruction and severe pollution just like the Four-leaf Crystal Star Domain."

"Unfortunately, we were on the losing side, so no sympathy or attention is given to us."

"No one chooses to be born with guilt, nor wishes to endure the torment of poverty for so long. Even if it was a mistake back then, I think four hundred years of punishment is enough to repay, and those predecessors who made mistakes have already been judged and dealt with."

"How does the Federal Central Council view us?"

"As comrades in a family, or children of former enemies? If they see us as comrades, why do they turn a blind eye to our prolonged suffering! If they view us as children of enemies, why do we still acknowledge so submissively? Are we born lowly?" At the end, the voice carried a slight tremor and long-subdued emotions.

...

The room was silent for a few seconds.

"You've changed, Moxun." The young man with black hair looked at his friend on the stage.

"You used to be very gentle and amiable, but I had a bad temper."

"Turns out it's the opposite now, right?" The silver-short-haired young man on the stage picked up a beer next to him, opened it, and took a large sip before letting out a long sigh.

"That's right, I've changed." He squatted down, the beer can rubbing between his fingers.

"I don't know how to explain it specifically; you can understand it as a smart aleck who felt good about himself going to a brighter world, only to find he was just a clown who could never turn things around."

Yade shook his head, "No matter what, you graduated from a prestigious university, and the company you work for now is also a well-known Giant Business—" His words were cut off by the other person.

"Enough, these things are merely outsiders' simple and ignorant views, like the lie of 'your life will be happy once you get into college.'

"Life's various problems can't be solved just by going to college, and many harsh realities can't be solved just by being smart." After finishing, he drank the rest of the beer from the can, then threw the can away and rested on the stairs.

"I originally thought that after years of university interaction, I could slowly assimilate with them, but ultimately realized it was wishful thinking. The more I tried to please, the more I was looked down upon, like a dog."

"Sigh..." In response, Yade stood up, walked over to sit next to him, and gently patted his back.

"You never told me these things before; I always thought your years studying in the Central Star Domain were happy. While training and studying at military school, I also encountered similar exclusion incidents, and didn't want to affect my friends' moods, so I suppressed them and never mentioned it."

"All stubborn, huh." With that said, he laughed self-mockingly.

The two sat in the empty room, silently drinking the beer they brought, occasionally clinking their glasses, as the empty cans slowly accumulated on the ground.

An hour later, Yade threw the last empty beer can into the trash can, then returned to the chair to sit.

"Having said this much, you wouldn't just come to me for complaints and to vent emotions, right?" He looked at Moxun leaning in the corner.

"I came to you for more than just that." The silver-short-haired young man stood up, slightly shook his dizzy head, then walked to the podium and swiped the control panel.

"As I said before, I want to change the current situation, and it's not just my thought but the thought of more and more people who are gradually realizing the truth."

"Like the storm of public opinion following the assassination of the Songstress, we contributed to it."

"You guys are really bold, aren't you afraid of being caught by the Court of Judgment?"

"Why would we be so clumsy? Are you underestimating my brain?" Moxun showed dissatisfaction.

"We certainly wouldn't foolishly engage in various protest incidents. It's too crude and easily exposed."

"Nowadays, it's like walking on a path full of kindling, we only need to ignite a subtle spark at the corner to set off a raging flame. This isn't because we are powerful but because the foundation of the era has already been prepared, just waiting for a heroic person to ignite it."

"It's not us, the rats in the gutters, who made a choice; it's the common result of many who've experienced similar encounters as us."

"That's right, it's not us manipulating and causing all of this, but the era has chosen us to complete this inevitable task."

"It's imperative to make the Federation Central recognize our importance, to break this unequal situation, so as to soothe our hearts filled with dissatisfaction and anger."
