Chapter 1375: The Final Push
Ding!
Obtaining a notification from the system that the red wyvern had succumbed to their attacks, Valyr was briefly left at a slight loss for words, only for him to look at everyone else with excitement in his eyes.
"We did it!" Unsurprisingly, the others in the group also had the same reaction as him, with some of them even finding it somewhat difficult to come to terms with the fact that they had killed an enemy over two class ranks their current strength.
However, after a bit more time passed, the group eventually burst into smiles and laughter.
After all, they were finally able to redeem themselves after failing to defeat the red wyvern twice in a row.
"Good news. We killed the red wyvern." Knowing that the four other guilds were waiting for his group to reach the end of its path, Valyr went ahead and sent an update to the guild leaders' group chat.
"If the next few tasks are more or less similar to what we've gone through thus far, and I'm hoping it is, then it'll only take an hour or so for us to get there."
"Take as much time as you guys need." After congratulating Valyr and his guild members for finally getting past the midpoint of their path, Malutar sent the young man some reassurance through the group chat as ILikeLamps and OneTrueJim quickly followed suit.
On the other hand, SoaringSkies1 did not send any message after all that, prompting the young man to remind of the arrogance and disdain the man had shown towards him throughout all of the attempts they've done to clear the world raid thus far.
'At the very least, this will probably be the last time I'll see him,' thought Valyr to himself, only to then look at his guild members once more with a slight grin.
"Now that we've killed the red wyvern, let's keep this pace going!"
"Yeah!"
With their eagerness and vigor renewed after the successful fight against the red wyvern, Valyr's entire group continued along the path at greater speeds than before, with almost everyone more than eager to volunteer in order for them to reach the end faster.
…
"…Finally here."
After going through another set of tasks related to the red wyvern's anger towards the heavens, Valyr and his group eventually arrived at the end of their path, the exhaustion on their faces immediately being lit up with glee.
Although most of the tasks given to them after the midpoint were more or less the same tasks they'd gotten beforehand, everyone in the group took note of the fact that the objectives they needed to complete were a bit more complex this time.
Whether it was reenacting a certain scene, or adding a certain flair to how someone cursed at the heavens, the additional requirements to the task brought an unexpected amount of mental strain to the group, especially to those who weren't well-prepared to come up with scenarios in advance.
Fortunately, the additional mental strain from those tasks were counteracted by the addition of tasks that were more or less up the group's alley.
Pure combat.
With the memories they came across talking about how it was the red wyvern aired some of its grievances out, almost everyone that volunteered to fight against the various beings the world raid threw at him bulldozed through them with ease.
Then again, with multiple buffs under their arsenal, wouldn't it be weirder if they weren't able to bulldoze through the opposition instead?
In fact, because of how one-sided the fights were, Valyr and the others took the fights as an opportunity for those that hadn't fought that long to accrue some more combat experience under their belt.
If not for that deliberate choice, the young man was certain that the entire group would have been able to reach the end of the path in about two-thirds of the time it took them.
However, he was also certain that making such a choice would eventually show its worth during the final story, especially when coordination and cooperation was key to clearing the world raid once and for all.
"We didn't take too long, did we?" Seeing the four guilds waiting near the edge of the final area, Valyr waved at the four guild leaders as he cracked a joke.
"You could've spent an entire day along the path and we still wouldn't complain," joked Malutar back as he headed closer to him, causing the two to let out a bit of laughter in response.
Letting out a slight exhale, the two then turned serious as Valyr asked, "How are our chances? Did you guys get the final task yet?"
"The latter, yes. The former… Honestly, I've got no clue." Malutar shook his head as he shrugged. "Though this is the second time we'll be fighting against the last red wyvern, we weren't even able to withstand its first attack."
"As for the final task, I'm sure you and your members will get it soon enough."
Ding!
Just as those words left the man's mouth, Valyr coincidentally received a notification from the system, prompting him to give the man an odd look before bringing up a screen containing the cause of the notification.

[Representing the Heavens] (Task)
Difficulty: S
For years, the red wyvern stood at the pinnacle of strength, its feats inspiring both awe and fear to those that witness its might.
However, once its dreams of becoming a true red dragon had showed its unsightly fangs of being impossible to achieve, the red wyvern more or less fell into despair overnight, rampaging whenever it could to vent out the anger and rage it had towards the world.
As the red wyvern continued to cause havoc without a care for the world, the other races decided to restrain the red wyvern, only to find out that their strength was simply not enough to contain the being.
Killing whoever and whatever that dared to bar its path, the red wyvern eventually attracted the ire of the heavens, telling it that it had crossed a line that it shouldn't have in the first place.
Sadly, drunk in its rage, the red wyvern continued to vent its anger towards the heavens, showing neither care nor damn for the beings that succumbed to its attacks.
Incensed, the heavens eventually formed a squad that would take the red wyvern down once and for all, giving it the slap of reality that it sorely needed all this time.
That squad… is none other than your group.

"…Hmm." Reading through the final task they needed to clear, Valyr briefly scratched the back of his head before looking back at Malutar. "So… how do we teach the red wyvern a lesson?"
"Beats me." Malutar shrugged once more, only to then ask the other guild leaders to head to where they were. "Can we even talk rationally to a being like that?"
"I mean… it's not like it doesn't know how to speak our language," replied Valyr with a slight shrug. "Though, if push really comes to shove, then we don't really have any other choice but to fight it."
"[Greater Analysis]."
Wanting to get a better idea of what they were up against in the off chance talking didn't work, Valyr went ahead and used his identification skill from afar, his target being the large red wyvern standing at the center.
Ding!

"…Damn." Sucking a breath of cold air as he looked at the red wyvern's stats, Valyr turned to look at Malutar and the others, only to see most of them looking back at him with bitter smiles on their faces.
Knowing the reason behind their bitter smiles, the young man flashed a bitter smile of his own in return as the five finally decided to initiate their final battle.
"Well, well, well. Look who we have here."
Just as the vanguard teams from the five guilds made their way to where the red wyvern stood, the latter swept his gaze over everyone in disdain.
"A bunch of beings that don't know their rightful place."
The red wyvern snorted in disdain. "Do you really think the heavens are on your side? Both of us have been forsaken by them. They've left us to fight among ourselves."
"However, that does not mean I see you as equals. Don't even think for a second that you'd be able to best me even once."
"For all of you… the only path that awaits is my victory…"
"…And your deaths."
