Chapter 1460: Myriad Prodigies: Second Round - Valyr (2)
"…Are any people in the next batches that we should keep an eye on?"
Just as another batch of 500 participants had been called up to the surface, a certain group of individuals glanced at the participants that appeared with slight boredom.
"Well, there's a few of them that you could consider notable, but their recorded feats don't really make them stand out that much compared to the rest," replied one of them to the question with a wry smile.
"Are you sure about that?" asked one of the women in their group in return before pointing at one of the participants in the current batch. "The Frost Spear Queen is part of the current batch, you know?"
"The Frost Spear Queen?"
"Did someone say the Frost Spear Queen?"
At the mention of the title, not only did the other people in the group immediately shift their gazes to where the woman was pointing, but the various people surrounding them did so as well.
With that, all of them were soon greeted by the sight of a slightly tanned woman with azure hair tied into a messy ponytail.
Gripping onto her azure spear with a slightly aloof expression, almost everyone who looked at her could not help but feel a sense of admiration well up within them, their minds recalling the feats that had got the woman to where she was currently was.
Before becoming known as the Frost Spear Queen, only those within the same city as her knew of her, especially since she was the daughter of the head of one of that city's noble clans.
However, that all changed once the skirmish between humans and orcs had transformed into a full-on war, with the woman immediately making a decision to volunteer at the frontlines.
Though her father dissuaded her hundreds to thousands of times to not head to the battlefield so rashly, her father eventually let her go there, seemingly being swayed by the conviction and determination she showed in her decision.
And fortunately, she had the skills to back it up.
Thanks to her always being on the verge of life and death at the battlefield, the woman's skills with the spear underwent an explosive growth as she began to gain a reputation for being one of the more ferocious fighters at the frontlines.
In the end, that reputation eventually cemented itself into the moniker she was known today, especially once she brought a decent chunk of the battlefield to a standstill with her ultimate skill.
"Hey, look. Her batch is up against the Onyx Scar Serpent King," said one of the men in the group after some time, prompting everyone's attention to shift towards the large black serpent.
Though some of them felt as if this match-up was unfair against the Frost Spear Queen, the majority were confident that the Frost Spear Queen's skills would be more than enough to handle the serpent without worries.
"Oh, hey! Ylvar's part of the final batch!"
Just as the group thought that there was only one person in the current batch that would catch their attention, the group soon heard someone shout these words, prompting them to immediately shift their gazes to where everyone else was looking at.
Whoosh!
Although the group didn't recognize him at first, they eventually realized that the young man everyone else in his batch was flocking towards was none other than the famed Ylvar everyone was talking about.
However, since they were the group that accompanied the young man during the first time he was brought to Algerie Kingdom, they knew that the Ylvar everyone else knew was just an identity that hid who the young man truly was.
"To think the person we escorted to the kingdom under Imperial Production Guild back then would turn into someone everybody recognizes in over a year," said the other woman in the group with a slight chuckle.
"As long as the beast they're up against is receptive to his combat style, then there's no doubt he'll pass the second round no problem," responded one of the men to her question while faintly smiling.
"…I think you just jinxed it, Paul."
"…What do you mean I jinxed it?" Hearing the man beside him utter such words, Paul slightly frowned, only for his complexion to then turn slightly pale as he noticed the beast Ylvar's batch was up against.
"…Man."
"See what I mean?" The man wryly smiled before letting out a sigh.
"Out of all the beasts their batch could have faced, they really had to face against the Jade Crystal Gorilla King."
…
Hoo… hoooh… hooohhhh!!!
Watching as its opponents for this round began to charge and surround it, a trace of annoyance appeared on the gorilla's face as it bellowed out in anger.
Whoosh!
Not wanting to remain passive and let its opponents give it a beating, the gorilla proceeded to move around the platform, leveraging its higher stats to the fullest to avoid getting hit.
"Alright! Just like what we've talked about!"
Of course, having watched the gorilla's movements for who knows how many times already, Valyr and everyone else in his batch remained both calm and vigilant, their minds thinking about the plan they agreed upon.
"Debuffers!" Waiting for the gorilla's movements to gradually slow down, the young man's eyes eventually gleamed once the opportunity he was waiting for arose.
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
As if the entire batch had been working together even before the tournament, the debuffers within the batch swiftly stacked all of their debuffs on the gorilla, which immediately caused the latter's movements to slow down.
"Hooh…!"
Not only that, but the debuffs also reduced all of its stats by a decent chunk, which made the gorilla feel as if its own body wasn't its own body for a brief moment.
"Hoo… hooh!"
However, once it was able to realize what was going on, the gorilla quickly adapted to its reduced stats and began to move with more ferocity.
"Uhoooh…!"
With anger written all over its face, the gorilla moved towards those within the batch that stacked debuffs on it, knowing that it would be able to exert more power if they were incapacitated.
"Defense!" However, just before it could attack any of them, Valyr barked yet another order to the batch, prompting some of the members to cast defensive skills onto the debuffers.
Swoosh!
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Seeing its attacks be nullified before it could even land, the gorilla felt more anger rise up deep within, its gaze eventually landing on the cause behind its ineffective attacks.
"Come on."
However, contrary to its expectations, the person it looked at instead returned the gaze with a mocking smile, only to then let out a ferocious aura that matched the gorilla's own.
"Let's see what you've got."
